      Me too I was looking for a project for building a rat rod shop truck and I have a fairly solid project or it is now thanks to the ground squirrel for chewing on my wiring harness for map sensor connector pigtail which shares it ground wire between several different sensors including the tps and the fuel pump relay and crank sensor so it doesn't currently run now, anyway it is a 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed 318 magnum V8 46 RH manual shift transfer case lever on the floor 1500 4x4 truck has 210k miles on it it ran strong for a 318 magnum V8, the front suspension is completely rebuilt and the truck drove better than most of the second gen dodge trucks I've been in, owned or been around. The transmission worked great because the previous owners replaced the front pump, input shaft seal and torque converter so if you shifted this truck into reverse and you didn't have your foot on the brake pedal it would just start backing up, and I have already replaced most of the brake lines from a complete set of stainless steel brake lines from classic tube out of ohio except for the ones up under the bed since they don't leak yet but they are in the truck, and the front rubber brake hoses are also in the truck id just bought those before the ground squirrel attacked the wiring harness. Anyways I'm looking for a preferred 68-71 Ford f250 camper special equipment truck which is usually either a custom cab, or a sport custom trim truck, and hopefully a fe bbf, automatic transmission but would consider a 4spd floor shift manual transmission or a column shift 3spd manual transmission, and the camper special truck has better brake Pckg in the front even if it is not disc brakes that they have in 69-72 trucks, and the rear 8 or 11 leaf spring pack per side and dana 60 rear end beefy truck. .

    1968 for sure did have door switches for the lights, for some reason yours is missing but the wires should be in there. Also that red light on the lower left of the dash lights up when starting to show it works but if it stays on it means you have an issue with your brakes and/or the proportional valve. It has nothing to do with the emergency brake like many people think.

    CT some of those had a small generator under the hood where you were saying the second battery went. It would charge the battery and give power to the camper plug. I think that is the set up you have!

      oh that's cool! 😎😎😎 Thanks man!

    • @MaxGiganteum
      @MaxGiganteum 5 месяцев назад

      @@CTmoog Without the full video under my belt, the generators generally were old school Onan brand generators. Going on memory, they pulled fuel from the normal fuel system and yes, they would provide power to a camper that rode in the bed. You could run all the lights, heat (if there was electric heat installed as opposed to LNG), a hot water heater, a cooking stove/oven, an A/C unit and if so equipped... plug in to sockets on the exterior of the camper. What it all boiled down to was how the camper was set up. Some were built all electric and others weren't. Some were set up to run LNG tanks for heat, hot water and the stove. Electrical power was supplied by dual batteries under the hood and the electrical was only used for a few lights in the interior. To the best of my knowledge, all the generators were aftermarket units. None were made by nor installed by Ford. The dual battery setups including the wiring for them was a factory install. Anyone else feel free to comment on that if your memory varies. Best wishes!
      - Max Giganteum
      Edit: after finishing the video, I see no evidence of a generator having been installed on this truck.

    That truck brings back so many memories! We had a green '68 F250 Highboy on the farm back when I was a kid. Sold it when we sold the farm. I miss that truck!
    I look forward to watching your progress on this one. What will be your approach to getting this one resurrected? If it were me, I'd get the engine, transmission, fuel system, and brakes/suspension all squared away before I started messing with the cosmetic issues (depending on how bad the rust is, of course).
    EDIT: As I continue watching the video, it sounds like your plan is similar to what I'd end up doing. Cool!

    Hi CT, I'd call it Custom Jack like Jack Daniel's. What is going on with Rusty? I was hoping to see you weld in the floor pan and dog legs soon? Going to be putting the 40h vw motor picked up in the shop soon to play around with. Got it for 50 bucks plus a bunch of good parts so not loosing money on it if it's shot? Will seen when I get going on it

      It's kind of sad to sell it before it's finished. It does cost allot to finish them though. I'm at the point that I need to sell some of my projects to keep moving on. He definitely has the room on the farm to store allot more.

      @@TimsWorkshopTJY it’s also sad cuz that’s the bus that started the popularity of this channel. RUclips pushed that content and the bus never got done. I think it sucks even more when you sell a project after it’s done unless that’s the goal from the beginning.
