I don't know what to tell you, man. I'm brand new to golf--40 years old, and I can't stop watching your videos. I feel like your teaching style gives me the confidence to keep trying and the energy to have fun. I never realized how self-conscious I would be golfing in front of other people--I wish I had you riding in my cart giving me the crispy KFC talk when I get in my head too much! Thanks for all of your golden tips!
Welcome to this great game, Mark! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, and I sincerely appreciate your kind words in that regard. While I can't quite be with you in the cart, have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? It might just be the next best thing. That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Additionally, you'll find all my short game content (putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play), advanced level courses on shot shaping and power/distance, diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more there. @@SagutoGolf I think it's time to make a small investment in my golfing so that my life will finally be good :) Happy to join the Saguto golf team. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
@Mark Whitson - That's awesome!! Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start in the school: 1) Regardless of a member's experience and skill level, it is imperative that we take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this. 2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing! 2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down. 3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf 4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I look forward to assisting you through the school’s structured lessons and drills towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level! Tom, this is exactly what I was doing in last Fridays round. My shots were awesome. No matter what club I had in my hands, the shot felt powerful. I am definitely going to archive this video for future viewing. Good Job! Keep up the good work.
Oh my gosh this tip transformed my swing in less than 15 minutes! I have struggled with lag forever and just couldn’t get that feeling consistently. I did the noodle arm drill for about 10 minutes this morning and then started hitting full shots. It was amazing! I hit about 50 straight shots in a row right on the button with no fats or tops. Once I started hitting full shots the only swing thought I had was trying to relax at bit at the top of the back swing and feel the weight of the club head. I swear my swing almost feels effortless now and with more power. Thank you so much for all your tips but this one has had the biggest impact on me and freed my mind up from having to think about so many things. I am so pumped up about my swing now!
Wow, Mike - Considering that this lesson video was just released a short while ago, I'd say you did a rather impressive job of incorporating it into your swing on the fly. Nicely done!!! 💪💪 Thanks for sharing your success with it, and keep up the great work!! Tom
@@SagutoGolf Tom I’ve incorporated many of your tips into my swing over the past few months and have been hitting the ball better than at any point of my life but I was still having problems maintaining that lag at impact consistently. This tip today was the piece of the puzzle I had been missing. I can attribute about 90%+ of my bad shots to not maintaining lag at impact and in my opinion this is the biggest mistake golfers make. I just finished another session and it produced the exact same results so it wasn’t a fluke. My biggest problem now is I’m going to have to adjust the yardages for all my clubs because I’m compressing the living sh*t out of the ball now and not swinging any harder.
@@NonnyStrikes It’s a pretty long list. I played HS football, baseball, basketball, ran track, golf, weightlifting team, raced motocross, bicycle road racing, mountain biking, archery and martial arts.
Having watched number of your videos and incorporating your tips I managed to finally get good consistency and distance with my iron shots. I very much like your simple, uncomplicated, easy-to-repeat techniques and 'feels' which make all the difference in the swing mechanics. Phenomenal sense of humor is the icing on the cake. Thank you
My pleasure, @N4865G!! I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I am very glad to know that you are benefiting from my instruction content and enjoying my teaching style!! Thanks for sharing your success, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!! Tom
Watch his Palmer tip best tip ever !!In my estimation gives reference point to be coming through with confidence!! I think the tip tend to put the whole swing on preferred plane Great tip I wanna use it all the time.
What a great tip for feeling lag. One thing I think this also helps is grip pressure. It lessens it. And in my case, it’s exactly what I need as I always tend to grip the club with too much pressure. After doing this drill on range over and over, my shots are longer due to lag and late release and it forces me to have less of a death grip on the club. Super.
Awesome! I'm glad this lesson resonated well with you, David!! Excellent job incorporating the lag into your swing, and thanks very much for sharing your success with it. I'm having flashbacks to your Caddyshack/Carl Spackler video from @ a year ago. That video really made a HUGE difference in how I hit the ball, helped with my wrist hinge and really increased my distance with all clubs. Also it helped 'loosen' me up prior to and during my backswing. Also, can't forget the simplicity of 'up the plane, down the plane''!! As always, Thanks!!!
Yep - Same concept, different approach (and outfit), Jeffrey! I'm glad Carl's version resonated well with you. If he wasn't chasing gophers I'm sure he would have eventually invented the LagShot....😆 Keep up the great work and, as always, have fun out there!! Tom

It's all about making physics & geometry work effectively within the realm and confines of human physiology and psychology, Jack. No need to reinvent the wheel. When laws and constants can peacefully coexist with our unique set of individual variables, a good golf swing can be the outcome! If you view enough of my instruction videos you'll come to notice that I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason is why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. I have a Lag Shot but never used it. So far the straight lead arm has made a huge difference for me - more than anything I have tried so far. Making solid contact 90% of the time. Next step for me is to start introducing some wrist hinge and generate some lag. Going to try these drills today, with and without the Lag Shot, and work up slowly. Enjoying your approach to the swing brother. Seems to resonate well with me.
I'm glad to know that my instruction is connecting well with you, Alan! With regard to wrist hinge, the folding of the trail arm, creating lag - these should occur naturally on autopilot and without having to contrive or force anything. I speak to this point in a recent episode here: ruclips.net/video/u7MP6A8wL6Q/видео.html Also, the LagShot should really help you with this. By the way, have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? @@SagutoGolf At this point I am not ready to commit to any additional paid content since I already invested in the Top Speed Golf System with Clay Ballard...which I do like. His system is very structured and comprehensive so I am not ready to jump ship just yet. That said, I admit the straight arm video has helped me more than just about any one change I have ever made in my swing - so I am intrigued. I plan to check out the "Top 3 Things...." mini course and see how that goes too. As you know you can only make so many changes to your swing until it becomes counterproductive so it's best to take it slow IMO. I did already commit to signing up if things continue to improve which I suspect they will. Cheers !!
@Alan Edwards - Understood, and I certainly would not want a member to have multiple paid subscriptions with the potential for conflicting information and confusion! Thanks for your reply. I hope you enjoy the mini-course!! Cheers! Tom
I hope it performs well for you! And my apologies in advance if I mention my school to you again in a future reply. I respond to so many comments from countless golfers from across the globe every week that I can't keep track of what I've said previously to each individual!
Hey Tom, I'm thinking of purchasing the lag shot driver. My irons are usually good, but when I'm hitting the driver straight and solid my score goes way down. About 50 to 70% or more pars. And greens in regulation a good number. But I struggle with consistency with the driver. And if the lag driver works, I'll eventually spring (no pun intended) for the 7 iron. Thanks Tom for all that good instruction. Mollie says hello and she still loves your scottish pants and socks!! :)
Hi Tom, I think the LagShot would be an excellent tool to assist you in resolving your issues with the driver. I’m glad this lesson resonated well with you! A lot of amateur golfers fight the instinct to hit at the ball, so this technique will certainly help them in their efforts to overcome that. Thanks! Tom
That's my problem with graphite shafts. Swing weight is measured at C2-C3. I think I need to weight the heads to at least C6 or 7. Love your present swing.

Hey Tom!, awesome stuff as usual. I had a great start the other day, tempo, doing everything you say. From the moment I felt into the first bunker all the magic went straight to the bucket lol. I would love to see a how to transition from that swing to the bunker swing, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the video, Pedro! Here's a bunker lesson: ruclips.net/video/y6lsY3Pd85I/видео.html There's more detailed instruction on this in the online school. Beyond that, it's important to learn how not to allow one bad shot or bad hole ruin your round or affect your swing. Just move on to the next tee. The pros you see on TV are excellent at doing this. They have very bad short-term memories, which is very good for their golf games.... 😆 TS
Bobby Jones always started his backswing and downswing with the hands and the club “following” along. Not as easy as it looks but a great swing thought and drill.
Yes indeed. I'm doing it primarily as a drill to build in "feel" for the clubhead, but there are some greats who actually swung it like that. Glad you enjoyed it!!
Reminds me also a little bit of Pete Cowens concept - just let the shoulder drop and let natural forces work (basically the clubhead „falling“ back to the impact)
In terms of the physics you get the bend “lag” to load the shaft due to the inertia of the club head or the fact you drop the hands just before the completion of backswing which is possible with just a slight bit of side bend to the right, a move which can be done independent of the tilting of spine or turning of shoulders. The dropping the hands move is something Bryon Nelson is credited with developing in the 1930s when making the transition from hickory to metal shafted Driver. Once the downswing is started the hands must keep accelerating down faster than the club head mass. If the club head mass matches the speed of the hands the bend comes out of the shaft prematurely, a swing fault of beginners who grip the club in the fingers so tight it restricts the thumb-up/down waggle range of movement in the wrist (radial/ulnar deviation). The way you and all good ball strikers seem to accomplish this is to progressively increase the amount of side bend in the swing as in a side arm toss of a stone across a pond. This can be shown by trying to swing without side bending which like tight a grip will cause of “casting” (early straightening and swinging out of the club head) which robs the swing of the kinetic energy stored in the bent shaft.
The actions of good ball strikers to and through the zone are rather consistent, save some measure of individual idiosyncrasies. What each “feels” - whether it be dropping the hands, trail side tilt, lateral hip slide, lead arm off the chest, swinging the handle, rolling the trail foot, etc - is unique to each. Thus I offer a variety of feels in my instruction - including those mentioned and more for the transition/downswing - to help each individual golfer to work out what performs best for them. Thanks for your detailed comment! Tom
Another thing for folks out there... Practice keeping your lead arm straight and use the trail hand (usually dominant hand) as the motor. Don't do it near a ball for the first 10-20 minutes. Just practice around with that for a while... see what happens.. don't force things... let them happen. DON'T GET INTO YOUR HEAD WITH THOUGHTS FROM VIDEOS AND TIPS. Just relax and try this. Have an open mind about this game... and you'll be changed as a person without realizing a thing.
@@SagutoGolf HAHA I started messing around with long driving just because I know smeshin' the ball is easier when you simplify it. I took the weight motions from stack and tilt, and started walking with it sorta.
I got the Dave Pelz putting track and the only way I could swing the putter without hitting the track was with noodley hands. And when I took it to the coarse I was sinking putts from every where. And the guy I was golfing with was amazed.
@@swisstrader I had to relax my hands I let the putter head lag it was straight back and straight thru. I let the putter head get in the way of the ball. No control
Hi Sug, watching you taking the club back with your right hand is new for me to view/see! I was always told that the left hand dominates the full swing -ie- take away with the left hand/arm, then follow through with the left hand/arm! Should I change?
That's up to you to decide, Alan. I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. Wow. I've been googling reviews for this thing all day prior to seeing this video. Since I use a lot of your swing fundamentals I was wondering what your thoughts were on the Lag Shot. Wasn't sure if you were into swing trainers. I've found the Orange Whip helped me a lot with my driver. Was wondering if this thing will be the missing piece for my iron play.
I think it's a great aid, Jeff. You can warm up with it like an Orange Whip, but then you can also take it to the range and actually hit full shots with instant feedback. That's what I really like about it.
Joined golfer 1st hole pin high 410 on card but he skulled sand shot after 300 yard drive blamed me ! Ok he had lotta talent but copped out blamed me and I've been with plenty world famous golfers not one complained me coming up behind or anything else!!
Tom, I am finding that I am swaying back on my backswing occasionally. In watching this video it appears your left foot is planted. Other videos from other sources have the left foot moving some (aka Jack Nicklaus, Steve Scheffler); but in either case (plant/not plant left foot) should you sway backwards in the backswing. You might comment on this in a future video. I bet MANY of your viewers need to be reminded of this.
Actually, Warren, I comment about this regularly. Here's an example: ruclips.net/video/FmdHyl6OBIs/видео.html In the swing system I teach you start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. The upper torso/head - and thus the swing center - remains in place during the increasing forward weight load in the downswing. There's no shifting back and forth, and the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing. And here's Jack Nicklaus on weight shift - "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play." I’m using JumboMax Wrap Series grips (X-Large). I personally love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone. They’re not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy."
Keep working on it, Frankie - with time and proper repetition it will ingrain itself. It's really a matter of conquering that "hit" instinct, the likely cause of your Achilles.. Nice job!!
Tom can orange whip gain me 20 drives if so I will budget it? What do you think and should you do one orange whip practice swing then grab your driver?
@David Mahady - I've used the Orange Whip as a warmup tool and it's fine. With the LagShot swing training aid that I'm using you can get a similar warmup with the important added benefit of being able to actually hit balls with it and obtain instant feedback.
Do you ever run into this? When a person has a flat shoulder turn and the begin turning their shoulder down and tilting it feels like they’re falling toward the target and it feels dramatic and they have success but as time goes on they get used to it and to try to get the same sensation they end up getting too steep with the shoulders and actually the tilt towards the target and if so how do you prevent that or get back to where you’re supposed to be. I’ve seen your videos on Palmer. Even though he says he wants his shoulders pointing at the ball at the top but it doesn’t look like he actually makes it that much down but about a foot outside the ball.
It certainly can happen. An exaggerated feel is often necessary for a golfer who has a deeply ingrained flat turn, but once they’ve properly built in the tilt they need to switch to maintenance mode. This is where the power of regularly videoing our swing can really be of benefit. Also, I cannot overstate the value of the diagnostic and corrective lessons and drills in the online school. Try this: Assume address position and place your head against a wall. Now tilt towards the target while keeping your head in place. When you are fully tilted you should be in perfect top of backswing position - your head and swing center intact, with the proper combination of tilting, turning, and extending. If you haven’t already done so, please consider enrolling in the school. You won’t regret it.

@harinder brar - I have phased out in-person instruction so I can further dedicate my efforts in support of the online school. I will, however, continue the V1 Swing Video Analysis lessons as they are instrumental to the progress of my school's members, and these can be done for any student from anywhere across the globe. This enables me to put my eyes on your swing and offer some very specific observations and corrective action plans if applicable. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf And here's a link if you are not already enrolled in the school and would like to know more about it: saguto.golf Thanks! I'm having some trouble transitioning from the overcooked noodle arms at 1/4 power to a full on the course swing. Anybody else have this trouble? Love the sweet contact at 1/4 speed, slicing the ball like crazy when trying to hit it full.
Revisit the video at around the 4:30 mark, Chris. You don't necessarily need to have the "noodly arms" on the course. It's just a matter of building in a "feel" that you can then incorporate into your actual full swing. Also, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. It depends on the "feel" that works best for you, @josurke, and the one that you reference is certainly acceptable and effective for many players. I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. I’m using JumboMax Wrap Series grips (X-Large) and absolutely love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone. They’re not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy."
Kind of like tennis how they leave the racket loose in their hand when they strike the ball? (Full disclosure, I know nothing about tennis, but I've heard this.) I just wanted to comment to help grow the channel. Lol.
It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause, Brian. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. There's an entire section of my online school dedicated to resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. @@SagutoGolf Thanks for taking so much time to respond. I work very hard to improve my game. I have a 5 handicap so I feel my ball striking isn't bad but can always be improved. I was relaying just some issues I have with the Lagshot.
Understood, Brian. I suppose then that your normal swing is dialed in when the LagShot is pushing it right. That does actually make some sense, though if desired the Lag Shot flight might possibly be corrected with a slight adjustment in ball position
My pleasure! But please note that my suggestion is simply for "window-dressing" your ball flight with the LagShot club only. If you are satisfied with your ball striking where it matters, then I would not change anything in that regard.
Yes, Ralph, and I demonstrate it with the driver later in the video. It’s essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: ruclips.net/video/7fmtzyH3rsA/видео.html. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: ruclips.net/video/SLjwU_1Cc7o/видео.html If you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously. The best way to describe the feeling for your left arm and hand, is to throw a frisbee. Just practice that movement fully, while bent over at the ball.
@311hitwall - Your lead arm should remain straight - not tense or rigid - because it is the radius of the swing circle. If you can hold your arm straight out in front of you without it tensing up, then you should be able to keep it straight with a club in your hand as long as you have a proper grip. I'm starting to talk to myself in the shower about golf. Then when I get to the mirror. I say "wouldn't it be nice, if people just got rid of their ego"
You're only starting to talk to yourself about golf now?? Man, you've got some catching up to do.....😎 Yes - the mighty ego permanently relegates for too many folks to the vast abyss of golf swing frustration!
Okay I just figured it out the left arm has to be straight at the dress and the left elbow cannot be flared out to the left if your left elbow is flared out to the left elbow elbow is flared out to the left no matter what you do your swing is doomed it is the most important part of the swing and it is such a deceiving bad setup devastation because you can have your left arm in front and leaning towards the target but if your elbow is not talked in you are doomed no matter what else you do in the swing I got it it's not the right arm thank you been end the spinning right arm spinning right arm

Hi Jeff, I do offer V1 Swing Video Analysis lessons as they are instrumental to the progress of my school's members, and these can be done for anyone from anywhere across the globe, school member or not. This enables me to put my eyes on your swing and offer some very specific observations and corrective action plans if applicable. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. Yes......and????? 😎 As I've likely shared with you previously, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my RUclips content. What appears to be strong, Dennis, likely has more to do with how my arms and hands naturally hang from my shoulders, and I speak about this in an episode from the archives titled "Find Your Natural Grip for Great Golf Ball Striking": ruclips.net/video/47G9ZPaJTQE/видео.html So in other words, what appears to be strong may actually be more of a neutral grip for me. The checkpoint would be whether or not the hands are rolling or flipping through the zone, or if I need to do something active to hold them off from doing so.
All this talk of lag. Lean your left hip towards the target into impact and think about taking a divot after the ball. Done. You now have lag, now stopping thinking about it and just let it happen naturally. Or else you will decelerate

@@SagutoGolf I think it's time to make a small investment in my golfing so that my life will finally be good :) Happy to join the Saguto golf team. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
@Mark Whitson - That's awesome!!
Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start in the school:
1) Regardless of a member's experience and skill level, it is imperative that we take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered.
You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf
4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members.

Thanks John, and great job figuring this out on your own!!

Awesome work, Mike!! I am sorry about your new problem, though.......😆😆
Keep it crispy and have fun out there dialing in those new yardages!!

Hey Tom,
I'm thinking of purchasing the lag shot driver. My irons are usually good, but when I'm hitting the driver straight and solid my score goes way down. About 50 to 70% or more pars. A lot of amateur golfers fight the instinct to hit at the ball, so this technique will certainly help them in their efforts to overcome that.

Beyond that, it's important to learn how not to allow one bad shot or bad hole ruin your round or affect your swing. Just move on to the next tee. The pros you see on TV are excellent at doing this. They have very bad short-term memories, which is very good for their golf games.... 😆

Excellent Video Tom 👌

Tom
Very fine tip. It works buddy
Thanks! I'm glad to know that this lesson helped you!
Hogan's "three right hands".....
@@SagutoGolf HAHA I started messing around with long driving just because I know smeshin' the ball is easier when you simplify it. I took the weight motions from stack and tilt, and started walking with it sorta.

Give up control to gain control. Nicely done, James!
Tom,
I am finding that I am swaying back on my backswing occasionally.
Here's an example: ruclips.net/video/FmdHyl6OBIs/видео.html
In the swing system I teach you start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward.
I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play."

Curious Tom, where do you focus your eyes during the swing? I know it may be different for different players and I've seen/read to focus a couple inches in front of ball and it gets in the way of the swing.
My eyes are at the top of the ball as that is conducive - for me - to hitting the ball first and then taking a divot.

what size grip are you using and do you think that helps feel the club head?
I’m using JumboMax Wrap Series grips (X-Large). I personally love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone. They’re not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy."
My swing is right there, just need to work on tempo and when I do, I'm smoking the ball. Flush everytime. My Achilles is rushing to thr ball.
Is that a jumbo grip?
Please share your thoughts.

Revisit the video at around the 4:30 mark, Chris. You don't necessarily need to have the "noodly arms" on the course. It's just a matter of building in a "feel" that you can then incorporate into your actual full swing.

LOL! I appreciate the support!!
Yes - there is a lag effect in the tennis swing motion as well, so nice guess..... 😆😆
When I use the lag shot I hit the ball to the right. If I work on keeping it from going right I hook my irons.
It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause, Brian. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature.

@@SagutoGolf Thanks I will try that out.
My pleasure! But please note that my suggestion is simply for "window-dressing" your ball flight with the LagShot club only. If you are satisfied with your ball striking where it matters, then I would not change anything in that regard.
Dose it apply to driver?
The difficult part is keeping the left arm straight yet being relaxed to feel the weight. There seems to be no middle ground for me.
Your left arm is supposed to bend. The issue comes in when you let your left arm goes across your chest.

So in other words, what appears to be strong may actually be more of a neutral grip for me. The checkpoint would be whether or not the hands are rolling or flipping through the zone, or if I need to do something active to hold them off from doing so.
Imagine overnoodling it and the club slips out and hits a Chinese guy on the next tee!
If Paul Rudd and Tom Hanks had a son who played golf
You must control club face
The clubface will return properly to the ball if we allow it to do so without any manipulations.
All this talk of lag. Lean your left hip towards the target into impact and think about taking a divot after the ball. Done. You now have lag, now stopping thinking about it and just let it happen naturally. Or else you will decelerate
Can you explain why one would need to pay you $99 for a subscription when you have shared how to swing the club so simply? There is no refund, but it would be frustrating to have paid to find out there was nothing more to your teaching....
Well...even if this is all there was to it, don't you think you would at least owe me the price of a half-hour lesson with a PGA pro for all that you have learned and benefited from here???.......😎

@@SagutoGolf maybe so. Just be nice to know up front that's what I would be paying you for - one simple swing thought and that's it. Your approach is definitely genuine and passionate, I will give you that. 🙂
Well, @Common Sense, I think I've explained in some detail what you get for your "tuition" dollar. Either way, I appreciate your being here as a channel subscriber and I'm very happy to know that you have benefited from my instruction content!
@@SagutoGolf One more quick question and thanks for the other replies. Does joining your golf school online give you access to members only youtube videos, or is that a separate membership fee?
