He gotten tire & beaten down by Roy. Harding arms was hurting, getting pounding. He couldnt go anymore. Thats something i never seen before in boxing someone quit on a arm beatdown. Bad Ass Roy
Its like roy Jones fought more southpaw fighters than any other boxing legend
He didn’t. He tried to avoid southpaws as much as possible. Roy even said it himself
Not facts
You a lie @@creoleDJ
It's true. He fought a lot of south paws
@@The1whoStrives Roy said it himself. He really had no choice but to deal with southpaws as a light heavyweight because there were so many in the division. All you need to do is look it up (it was mentioned at the 6:29 mark), but judging by your response I can tell that you won’t look it up…
When Harding lowered his hands, Roy targeted his arms, and when he raised his hands, Roy targeted his body.
You can clearly see the bicep muscle deformation in the left arm of Harding... He clearly couldn't throw the left.
Pensacola in da house. Blown up middle weight that became heavy weight champ of the world.
That ref is fantastic. Love how he almost always makes them work out of the clinch
At 9:50, that punch was extremely smooth.
seriously, Roy could of knocked this guy out in round 1 if he could be bothered.
In round 8, Jones wanted to see if Harding still had power in his right hand, after he targeted it. You can tell that Jones allowed Harding to hit him in that round.
Harding was a decent fighter and he gave Roy trouble. Roy looked like he had a bad night though. Harding dominated Tarver (their first fight) and had won a close fight vs. M. Griffin. He was a worthy opponent but a 30-1 underdog. He tore the bicep in his left arm in round 2.
That fukin bell at the end shook me
Looking back at these Larry Merchant always seemed grumpy and unsatisfied no matter what. He could have sat with the two grumpy old men Muppets in the balcony.
No that’s just his style
Larry always nagging
I think Steve Bunce captured this well when he said "nobody's winning this fight, and nobody's losing it".
Before the weight cut after Ruiz fight, Jones always looked fresh even after 10-12 rounds of boxing. Not even a single scratch on his face.
Harding’s left bicep did look pretty f’d up tho. It did look torn. But this is a championship fight. Sorry you don’t quit.
Merchant loves to hate on gifted fighters.
OMG....Roy could've wiped out the Super Middleweights right after this fight... It was the perfect time to catch Calzaghe...Kessler...Lacy... and that loaded division... but here come the HEAVYWEIGHT HYPE and Money talks...
Calzsghe smashed him
@@DonDayJRway after this lol
Who did his contract expire with? His HBO contract or promoter contract? He was never really signed with a promoter
Obvious torn bicep, Jones was getting to him though from the 9th.
You can't Jones with one arm..
Plot twist: the guy wasn't a doctor
I love how Roy always praises God publicly after his fights! Also fuck a Larry merchant..
I feel sorry for Eric, although behind on the score cards he was game and was even ahead or at least even through 6. Somewhere in the 7th to 9th round exchanges he hurt/tore the bicep muscle, rendering his left hand useless from then on. And still he hung in there, not running or playing rope-a-dope but fighting as best he could!
That's the right call. At first I thought he was throwing more hooks as strategy but by about the midway point of the 9th, he isn't using the left at all. Then in the corner, he starts saying, 'I can't use the left at all.' Game effort but he would have made it to the decision. Jones really did fight a lot of boring fights, especially at Lt. heavy. Doesn't initiate action at all. He probably understood by that point his chin was questionable.
@RobotBoy71 if anything he didn’t have the best chin since his weight depletion that plays a huge factor and how he in reality was a blown up middleweight. Your chin doesn’t necessarily improve when your weight increases but the punches power does
That's incredible
5:35 - Harding was actually in the fight by the 8th. He was tied on one of the scorecards.
He made that man fake an injury 😂
I've seen that s*** in heard those excuses a lot he was getting his ass kicked and he quit
I don't know about ass kicked. He was losing, not enough to quit tho...
Watch the last round - he never threw the left hand except some pitter patter when they were tied up. He was compromised.
Larry merchant is the worst.
Ha. I absolutely love and miss Larry in spite of some of his faults, but he really was a cock to both Roy and Harding that night. LOL
Al Gavin doesn’t get the credit for his training prowess…
If it wasn't for the tear he would have given Roy more problems. You could tell Roy wasn't jumping on the kid but may have turned him to pasta in the last 2 rounds. You can't throw a punch with a torn bicep, only other guy who did that and finished the fight was SHANNON BRIGGS! and he took a beating of all beatings but still stood his ground cause HES THE CHAMP!
Yep instead of running the show he watching Roy no good in boxing if u want to win u have to go for it
9:44.
This is Roy Jones most boring fight
Because Jones always had problems with taller fighters with long reach but once he settles in with combination punching with those fighters he looks good. Go watch Roy Jones vs Tarver first fight
@@jcentricity pwahaha stupid what about John ruiz tall and longer reach Rjj at his prime beat so many tallest and longer reach. Rjj is flatfooted and to slow n ds fyt
@@jcentricity in tarver fight his past his prime
Biceps my ass. Harding quit. Jus not willing to give it all up, & that's fine. the man has a future still. Some champions would give they life for the big W and some just won't give it all up over a victory and money..
8:48.
Davon Benson ...that punch would have knocked out 90% of fighters...geez
