I guess it’s been about 8 years since I first ran across one of these ridiculous pop up assemblies. American Standard really outdid themselves with this mess - making it impossible for a homeowner to work on their pop up and also making it impossible to replace this pop up with a standard one - you have to replace the entire faucet if you want a normal pop up assembly because the cable from the faucet can’t be replaced with a normal rod. Absolutely STUPID. I could never get the hang of taking these things apart and putting them back together quickly, but I had a helper who somehow had no problem with them and he could do it very quickly. I always made it his job to deal with those pieces of junk because he was always quick and successful.
I try so hard to not be an old fuddy duddy and accept all new shit. I’m a plumber not a materials science guy so I’m trying to trust this new cheap bullshit but damn. They make it hard with shit like this lol. I’d still install it if it came with the faucet but damn, C’mon American standard. How about some standard shit😂

Yeah I think the days of pull rod stoppers are done... Push pop assemblies are so nice.. easier to install and better for cleaning
