Really enjoyed the playing and the demonstration. I have put my ACS1 away in favor of my Quad Cortex. I may have to pull it out and update it. This sounds good for sure.
I say this all over the forums and stuff, but the magic of the ASC1 to me is that if you beat the daylights out of it with a treble booster it acts like an amp getting beaten to death by a treble booster. It's what made me move entirely to it as the center of my rig. Sadly I'm traveling now, so I can't hear the update, I just hope they didn't mess up that part of how the pedal reacts. 'Cause those new IRs sound fantastic. Great work Michael, and awesome demo tune.
What's your thoughts on this unit compared to the DSM & Humbolt DLX if any? Good video....very tempted to pair with the Helix as my Amp & Cab option 👍🏼
I have an HX stomp that was my main amp modeler for a couple of years. IMHO it's the bestest combo w/ the ASC1. I think the Walrus does the pure amp thing a bit better, but with the Stomp I have a) lots more options when I want something higher gain, or different, or a bass DI'd, b) all of the routing and sound interface goodies that come w/ the Stomp and c) I use the Stomp post ASC for all of my mod/reverb f/x. The Stomp is still the best bang for your buck anywhere, it does so many things extremely well, but I've never once thought of selling my Stomp even after the ASC became my only amp modeler.
You are getting some really nice tones here. Is there still no cut control for the AC30 model? I’ve never understood why they didn’t make the mid control act as a cut control like Strymon did. Speaking of the iridium, how do you think the ACS1 compares now? If you are allowed to say.
I’m always allowed to give my opinion on stuff, if I wasn’t able to - I wouldn’t make the video! Both have their pros and cons.. I think the ACS-1 feels better, but I like the drive on the Iridium better. The ACS-1 is noisier but you can run different amps on each side so the stereo imaging is better… Maybe I should do another video on it? 🤔
@@MichaelWWestbrook Love that attitude! I definitely don’t mind only being able to run a single amp on the iridium. Heck, I’m just happy to be able to run stereo effects into it. So I haven’t really gotten into the dual amp model thing. Well, I run 2 tube amps at church, but that’s the only way I can get my stereo sound in my ears. If I could, I would do that with one amp, though. What do you think about not having a cut control on the ACS1? I never hear anyone complaining about it, but I kind of feel like an AC30 without a cut control is unthinkable. Did you miss it at all?
Have you ever tried the ASC1 with an FRFR speaker? I’m just wondering how it would sound. I need to find a portable solution for a music therapy program. Thank you for your videos, I have learned a lot from them!
After updating to 2.0 did you notice on the Fullerton (clean, low gain setting) some unwanted combination tones when playing a minor sixth interval? (ex: intro of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room) Unless it's some kind of firmware glitch that only I got, I'm curious why no one else picked up on this nuisance. Fullerton, low gain, clean tone, any cab. Please comment if you noticed!
Hey man! I’m currently using the Strymon Iridium and thinking if I should move to the ACS1 for its form factor.. How would you compare the two of them, especially on taking drive pedals?
Hi Michael thank you for explaining the new features, I noticed that if you hold the bypass button down and turn the mid knob left to right it changes colour and sound but I’m not sure what it’s doing. Any ideas thanks again. Mick
@@MichaelWWestbrookwhen you make the video please be brutally honest. I’m about to drop some money on the whole package. I’m impressed with what I’ve heard so far and I’d love to hear your take on it. Thanks!
@@DieselWeazel as someone who has owned an Iridium, Kemper, ACS1, UA Dream, etc. I can honestly say the Tonex sounds and feels the most realistic to me. With it being the same price as all of those other amp in a box pedals but you can have unlimited captures/tone models, comes with the full plugin version, takes analog pedals way better, etc. it's a no-brainer IMO.
Not a fan. Since when have we become so enamored with a single cab and a single mic to get the job done? It’s so limiting and the tones aren’t all that impressive. Nothing beats an amp. I don’t care how much people say it “comes close”
Great tones 👍. This demo brings this device back to the shortlist. Very nifty package for three quality amp sims. Thanks!
this update is truly significant, I was about to sell mine and buy a UAD Dream, and I’m gonna keep the ACS1
Some how I’ve made it this far with out playing the UAD stuff so I can’t compare
Honest to God i was looking around to move to the UAD platform too, alll week.. then i saw the instagram post of the update. So happy!

Wow, big improvement. Got some work to do this weekend!
Dude your playing is fantastic
@mikecole4489 Thanks! Love your channel
Loving those sounds at 7:30!!!
And at 7:45!!!
Nice playing there Michael. Pretty impressive pedal.
Another great video!

Great demo... New subscriber here... Much appreciate for the ACS1 demo.
Thank you!

Michael, were you going straight into an interface here or were you using something like a walrus canvas in btw pedals and interface? thanks
I was using the DISO+ then into some Neve style preamps into a Focusrite Clarrett 8preX
Man that wood finish tele has got me in loooove. What brand is that!?
Sugar Guitars!
@@MichaelWWestbrook looks insanely gorgeous. U lucky u have one!!
what a great sounding pedal. perfect for an old fart like me who gets scared of menu's and app's. very natural sounding amp in a box pedal.
Yeah, it’s nice to have it all at your finger tips
Why is your led not flashing magenta when you tweak the settings? Mine flashes until I save or load a preset.
Man. Seems like a cool update but after spending a lot of time with the Tonex lately, the ACS1 just sounds like a DI signal with some EQ to me
Yeah, I’ve really been digging the ToneX. Haven’t made a video with it yet but that’s coming

Will do. I’m trying to get more real world experience with it and really give it some time before I give my opinion on it.

you can load an IR that is a blend of multiple mics in different positions
Yeah, it’s all a matter of taste. Lots of great tones can be had with a single mic but the same can be said with multiple mics and cabs.
