Awesome video, and excellent playing too. I was also a die hard ASC1 user before, but just the new IRs after enough to make it worthwhile for me. Thanks again, great work.
@MarioCuervo 300 was completely reasonable for what I bought over 4 years ago. To keep getting updated since that time, free of charge, is pretty rare. No other pedal company has done this (that I'm aware of).
@MarioCuervo So yea updates are free usually, but with this new update, they literally gave you free IRs from a third party that everyone would normally have to go out of their way to find and purchase outside of the ACS1. And they pretty much started from the bottom again instead of making a totally different V2 pedal. That’s arguable for sure, but giving quality third party IRs via firmware update is literally giving something for free. Which is wild!
Great demo - thanks! Had considered this pedal a year ago and ruled it out due to some sonic issues I just didn‘t care for. Ended up getting the (great!) ToneEx Pedal, instead, when it came out. It seems that older firmware sounds more transparent on clean tones, less dull. But maybe it is only about eq knobs position. I get the excitement about drives range, but I am not sure if they really improved the clean tone. But maybe less sterile means more lively, who knows. I do not own it, I only describe what I hear here. We both know that these subtle differences matter, but the only way how to tell what is better is by playing and attaching to the feel of the sound.
Yea for sure! There are still some great clean tones with the original firmware. I just noticed that the 2.0 firmware has a better response not only with gain but also with feeling on the fingers. And it definitely took drives and distortion better. But yea, I’d say trying it out on your own would definitely speak more than just watching this demo
@@nobesmusic I wrote dull but I did not mean it mean. It may even result in more consistent or coherent, a bit warmer sound. Maybe it is good change on cleans too ;)
Just updated mine after a long day away, absolutely INSANE. And this is coming from a guy who has the UA DRuby combo on my board for a while! The feel is UNREAL! 🔥
Mike, you think it sounds better than the UA Ruby? I have the Dream and would like the extra amp options of the ASC1 if it could capture the feel of the dream
@@ryanmaurer2630 I’m gonna be 100% honest with you. I actually thought that yes, the Dream and Ruby were incredible new technology with how great they feel. However, they are a 1 trick pony. They do what they do incredibly well, but that’s all they do. Personally, I actually PREFER the sounds in the ACS1 BETTER than the UA stuff now with this new update. So, to answer your question, yes. The ACS1 is much more usable and versatile than the UA stuff, and the way all these new IR’s allow you to truly customize the feel and tone to your exact liking, I don’t see a need for the UA stuff in my rig anymore. IR tech and cab sim tech will always be improving, what matters to me is, how much can I tweak it to get that sound out of my head.

Can you do a video showing how they take overdrive and distortion pedals now? Show everything from a low gain overdrive to a high gain going into Fullertone or something.
@nobesmusic Awesome! I still can't believe that there are no videos simply showing it as a pedal platform. I understand the new update sounds awesome, but sometimes you have an awesome distortion you want to use, too.
Yea I think it appears that way at first when the gain is around 12 o clock, but as you add more gain, the pedal gets substantially louder and evens out with previous firmware!
the new update does sound great! but its less volume. hows the compression's head room on the new update? cause i have to put my volume knob at 10-11oclock on the old update, so that it wouldnt compress when pushing with a clean boost pedal
Yea for real! Compression feels more subtle when I stack drives, the saturation blooms more instead of compressing more and sounding narrow. I did throw on a clean boost while I was experimenting before doing the video and it sounded great! I had my volume at around 12 and my gain at around 2 o clock
Did you use the same IR in both pedals? I know they provided new IRs, so I'm curious how much of the sound difference is due to amp model changes vs. different IRs used. Sounds good, though.
After updating to 2.0 did you notice on the Fullerton (clean, low gain setting) some unwanted combination tones when playing a minor sixth interval? Was that an actual drive pedal into this thing in the end? I'm looking at my iridium and it doesn't take any pedals good if I have gain on iridium higher than say 40% so I basically have to use clean amp if I want to put some dirt in it. Is the acs-1 actually capable of getting good sound when both using the breaked up amp and a heavily distorted signal as an input?

Thank you for making this video. So helpful. One question I have that I have never understood. I downloaded the new IRs. Are the front IRs controlled by the left CAB switch and the back IRs controlled by the Fullerton/London/Dartford switch. If someone can give me a good explanation, I would be so thankful :)
Thanks for watching! Nice. So to select the back IRs, just hold the bypass switch and toggle between ABC when your holding on to the bypass if selects the back IRs
Thanks a lot! Most of the video was just the ACS1, but here’s the signal chain, for the added effects: Shnobeltone Daily Driver > Caballero Effects Chroma Drive > ACS1 > D1 Delay > R1 Reverb
I don't know what's going on with mine but it sounds nothing like this. I did the update and yes, there is a lot more gain, but it sounds really artificial.
Hey! Sorry to hear that, I’d try to redo the update again. Maybe there was an issue with the firmware uploading. And if that doesn’t work, I’d recommend contacting walrus to see if something is up with that specific unit. Their presets that are automatically downloaded onto ACS1 should sound good right out of the box. How was the previous firmware for you?

We included IRs from our new XR IR Collection in the 2.0 update. It’s an improvement all around!
@@Tone_Factor I was wondering if you guys had used those! Thanks for the clarification!
@@Tone_Factor can I ask which ones? Or were these specifically XR IR’s that you cannot buy and only come with the ACS1? Just wondering!
What drive pedal do you use?
That was the Shnobeltone Daily Driver! It’s killer
please make a comparison video with klon, or soulfood, and with lamb overdrive too
@@rndbrl check out Shnobeltone’s channel! He does a killer comparison with the klon and king of tone. It’s awesome!
I’m assuming you need an frfr for this since it doesn’t have a way to turn off the irs, I’m a right?
No I don’t believe you can bypass the IRS
Actually you can, I watched a video on how to do it, so it is possible , tho I decided to go with the Simplifier DLX, that unit is loaded with features and great tones.
@@MartinVazChannel nice! That’s awesome!
do you have any volume signal drop problem with modulation pedals after acs1 ??
Hey! Not sure I haven’t tried it. I have my modulation pedal before
if u tried please let me know! @@nobesmusic
@@gongvdo will do!
Man that sounds great! What’s your signal chain for this demo? Thanks!
Thanks a lot! Most of the video was just the ACS1, but here’s the signal chain, for the added effects:
Shnobeltone Daily Driver > Caballero Effects Chroma Drive > ACS1 > D1 Delay > R1 Reverb
1:55 ey thats how snails do it
😂
I don't know what's going on with mine but it sounds nothing like this. I did the update and yes, there is a lot more gain, but it sounds really artificial.
Hey! Sorry to hear that, I’d try to redo the update again. Maybe there was an issue with the firmware uploading. And if that doesn’t work, I’d recommend contacting walrus to see if something is up with that specific unit. Their presets that are automatically downloaded onto ACS1 should sound good right out of the box. How was the previous firmware for you?
Hi brother, can you please tell me which studio monitors do you use ? 🥹
Hey! I use Wharfedale
Great video - thank you!
@@acceptances for sure! Thank you for watching
