- Jet2 Trip Report from London Stansted to Tenerife South onboard one of their newest Boeing 737 equipped with the new Boeing Sky Interior.
A great flight from London, in the UK, to Tenerife South, in the Canary Islands, Spain, with one of the biggest holidays tour-operators in Europe: Jet2.
We departed from a very cloudy and rainy London and, after 4 hours we finally could see the water of the Atlantic under the clouds. In Tenerife, we approach runway 25, which is not the usual runway in use, so we had an amazing approach (first time on the channel) with stunning views of the island and the Teide volcano.

I've flown 5 times with Jet2 and I always had great experiences.
I think they are one of the airlines that better focus on their "type of clients". I mean, they know perfectly the "standard profile" of their passengers and they know how to engage a lot with them, which is what every company (not only in aviation) wants, and just a few achieve. They are doing a great job, no doubts about that.

We are due to fly with jet2 to sunny beach in Bulgaria, on 31july 2020, been before in 2018 , loved it , keeping our fingers and toes crossed that the covid19 wont screw it up. .. good vid , enjoyed it.

La verdad es que el Sky Interior de Boeing ha sido un enorme paso adelante en lo que a comfort en cabina se refiere. Algo con lo que Airbus no ha sabido competir, al menos por ahora.
De hecho, los interior de los nuevos aviones de largo radio de Boeing (B787) me parecen bastante mejores que los de Airbus (A350).

It refers to a Jet2 aircraft engineer named Bob Gruszka who was with the airline since the very beginning and sadly passed away, it's named in remembrance of him :)

Me pareció curioso lo de la tripulación de cabina :"ladies and gentleman, guys and girls". No lo había oído antes. Me gusta también la cabina en ese rojo tan bonito. Vaya diferencia entre la salida de Londres, lluvioso, nuboso y la llegada a Tenerife Sur con sol en una parte. Muy majo el vuelo. Me gusta esa compañía aunque nunca he volado con ella. Magnifico video como siempre.

Although not ideally located for most of us, Stansted is an excellent airport in terms of diversity of destinations you can get to from there. The airport itself is pretty damn good too.
Stansted has grown a lot in the last years. Mainly thanks to Ryanair, but also other airlines like Jet2 are flying now from there. Let's see how it will be with all the airports London after COVID.
I'm really looking forward to fly again with Jet2, TUI... I enjoy a lot flying with them.

Estos detalles son lo que hacen fantásticos tus vídeos: en las tomas de los minutos 13:48 y 14:40 mantienes fija la altura del horizonte con lo cual se ve mover el avión. Genial! No me canso de verlos. Y en estos momentos de reclusión parece que estoy viajando, ¡a ver cuando podemos volver a hacerlo y con precios asequibles! Saludos.

A mi me encanta grabar ese tipo de planos, sin embargo, mantener el horizonte "inmóvil" requiere un movimiento de manos que me ha costa mucho "dominar" jaja Pues hay que moverlas exactamente al contrario que hace el avión. Te sorprendería la posición en la que me quedan manos al grabar estos planos jaja
Yo no espero poder grabar más vuelos hasta Julio/Agosto en un escenario favorable. Aun tengo bastante vídeos por subir y bastantes que puedo "re-usar". No obstante, creo que lo que sí será más posible hacer es viajar en tren. Intentaré grabar más de esos viajes mientras no pueda volver al avión.

Hi. Thanks for sharing this flight experience. I have a question for you. routes like this, mostly tourism travel, will they have the numbers to be offered by many airlines after this historical moment ?

Well, as you've said, these are mainly touristic routes. For these routes to be profitable for airlines you must be a tour-operator (like Jet2 or TUI) or a low-cost (Ryanair, Easyjet, Wizz...) or having some kind of passengers willing to pay high-fares for legacy airlines... this last one is not very common hehe That's why we don't see KLM, Lufthansa, Air France in the Canary, but Transavia, Eurowings, Iberia Express... But who knows with this new aviation that we are about to discover...

@@pilotsam004 Countries are starting to reduce the lockdowns. It seems that we are going back, very slowly, to the "new normality". By the way, if you are in the UK, Wizzair has started already some regular flights from Budapest... Maybe you could try come back to SK that way.
@@OnBoardHD yea virus struggle in hot weather and we are getting hot weather in most parts of the planet so some lockdowns will be over soon, I am aware that wizz air has started flight and they've also said bratislava will be one of the airports they will resume flights to but the airports in slovakia are still closed so as soon as the airports are open we are immediately going home. Thx :)

Jet2 es... bueno, es Jet2. A mi me gusta bastante volar con ellos, pero la verdad es que los mensajes que hacen por la megafonía son... especiales. A mucha gente les parecen "pegajosos".

Jet2.com is such a good airline. I have flown between Leeds Bradford and Malta on their 737-800 last November. It was a good flight and paid only £38
I always enjoy a lot flying with them! If I would live in the UK I would be flying with them a lot more! :)
@@OnBoardHD the funny thing is that there were only 23 people on board that flight and over 100 people on the Ryanair flight Leeds-Bradford to Malta leaving 15 minutes after us. My fare was £25 for the seat, £10 for the pre-ordered meal and £3 for guarantee cabin baggage

how come the Stansted transit was closed? and when was this filmed? Jet2 are now the only other tour operator aside from Thomson, since Thomas Cook & Monarch are no more...I'm wondering if Jet2 will go long haul, like Florida for example?
This was filmed at the end of January, if I remember well. It was probably under maintenance. This was the first and only time I went by bus between "terminals" in Stansted.
As far as I'm aware, your on-screen routing is incorrect. During the welcome PA, the captain said the aircraft would be following an oceanic routing to the south of Ireland. Probably T16. So you wouldn't have flown over France, Spain, or Portugal. Flight would have headed towards Southampton possibly, then West along the South coast out over Cornwall, then about 200nm West of Lands End, making a left turn down to the Canaries.
You are absolutely correct. This happens when I edit similar videos together and I mix the routes haha

La verdad es que nunca he tenido grandes turbulencias... si bien es cierto que al ser piloto, estoy acostumbrado y lo que yo llame "turbulencia ligera" para muchos pasajeros es mucho más...
Un vuelo que hice desde Madrid a Dallas (el vídeo está en el canal) tuvo un poquito de movimiento durante las primeras horas del vuelo, pero no fue nada super-destacable...

Hello OnBoardHD ! In Austria we had re-open our Stores and Shoppingcenters with strong rulement ! Distancing to each other , order to wear a mouth /nose protection and desinfection the Hands out of the Stores ! The problem is the waiting time to enter the Stores , and i will not waiting 1h or more to enter the Store , while the Security on the entrance will only let a few people in the Store , and thats the reason for the long endless waiting !
Hi Robert! Yep, I'm aware of what is happening in Austria. Remember that I'm living just 60 km from Austria hehe In Slovakia opened lots of business today. With limitations but, for example, restaurants are opened from today.
Hopefully, we won't have an increase in the cases and we'll be able to slowly transit to the "new normality"...
I know that I won't be able to fly fo recording until mid/late summer in the best scenario. I still have several videos for uploading, however, I think I will reinforce the train videos on the channel until that moment, as the train trips will be a lot easier to make. It's just an idea, but I think it could work.

Hi I’m travelling on jet 2 in august unfortunately I have an aisle seat and I checked in so I can’t change it however I did see there’s spare seats. How have your experiences been with their cabin crew and changing seats if you have? :)
I can't help you with that... the best you can do is to wait for the boarding to be completed and ask the cabin crew :)

I flew on this exact 737-800 (G-JZHO) from NCL-ACE back in November 2019. While I’m no fan of Jet2, I would certainly do anything to be on one of their planes at the moment! I was due to be flying on their A330 in September but that has since changed as these are being sent back to the lessor. I will instead get a 757!

OnBoardHD - Flight Experience The A330s and all other aircraft that were being leased in such as Titan and SmartLynx A321s have been returned for the summer period. These aircraft should return in 2021.

OnBoardHD - Flight Experience It’s such a shame. I’ve already cancelled 13 flights including my summer holiday to Hawaii😢.
My next trips are in June and after that I don’t have anything booked until late August when I go to Seville. I’m really hoping Spain opens without quarantine as I have 5 visits planned before the end of 2020, 3 of which are transits through MAD...

For what I read every day on the news, the situation in Spain is improving quite fast, but with the lockdown release, I hope we won't go back and have to put more restrictions again...
In my case, this is the first time in 7 years that I don't have any booked flight. I had some for March but all of them got cancelled, of course. At least, I have vouchers from all the airlines, including TUI, British Airways or Air Baltic.
I feel we are getting closer to the "new normality" (that's how they call it in Spain).

A modo de curiosidad, como piloto de Ryanair, ¿Tienes base fija o eres itinerante?. Ojalá tenga la oportunidad de poder tener un vuelo contigo, y ver un poco la cabina siempre que sea posible, jeje.

Siempre puedes preguntar a la tripulación de cualquier aerolínea ver la cabina en tierra. Si no están muy apurados nunca ponemos problema a que cualquiera venga a ver la cabina EN TIERRA.

@@curtisj2165 Yep, the wind is usually exactly from the other side. This approach is very uncommon.
OnBoardHD - Flight Experience yes, I’ve been noticing that there seems to be a lot of issues with RUclips lately, like for instants I tried to upload a video a few days ago but whenever I did, it automatically changed the video from a public to a private video and I never got it to stay at public so I had to delete it. And whenever I try to watch a live stream it keeps on cutting off randomly for no apparent reason. And this is no time for,RUclips to fail us because if it does, I literally won’t be able to make it through lockdown.
@@boeinga370 I really don't know anything about that. I didn't have any problems with it. Maybe it was just something punctual... =/
