  • An ambient, haunting drone. The Hologram Microcosm is looping and layering the SOMA Lyra 8, reverb from Valhalla Supermassive, and subtle movement from the Galaxy Tape Echo.

Awesome playing, dude! How did you connect everything to the interface? I'm more curios on how you can play the Lyra and manipulate that sound with the Microcosm :)

Thanks for the message! I'll try my best to answer your question about the set up. The Lyra is going into Ableton via one of the Scarlett's inputs. In Ableton I tidy up the signal with some EQ and compression - the Lyra's dynamics can be pretty wild so I find it helps keep them in check. Then, I send it to the Microcosm via the Scarlett's outputs, before bringing it back into Ableton via different inputs on the Scarlett. The last step in Ableton is to put it through the Valhalla Super Massive reverb. Took me a while to find all the settings I liked, but once I did I was hooked. Hope that helps.

@@locustt7 It can sound quiet and then get loud really, really, really fast.

Honestly how do you do that? I also own a Lyra 8 and a Microcosm and I just can't get anywhere near.

Instead of using the Microcosm’s reverb, I like to use Valhalla Supermassive at the end of the chain. I also layer different Lyra sounds using the Microcosm’s looper, which can create a more textured soundscape. Took a lot of experimenting before I found a range of sound I liked. Hope that helps! :)
