How to split shingles (with a 50ton wood splitter)

Here we are using our wood splitter to split perfectly sized parallel shingles.

you dont make shake shingles with an axe, you use what is called a froe. its not bad, and it gives you better more consistent shingles.and you should never use wd 40 on a hydraulic cylinder, if you feel the need to lube it use grease. and cedar wood makes best shingles other wood tends to rot
