- This is a 4K video of Bournville a village on the southwest side of Birmingham, England. So we explored Bournville village on 22nd Aug 2020. A day of mixed weather and one thing we loved was the different style of houses. Every house seemed to have had the same amount of thought and love put into it.
It always amazes me at how the landscaping is always so neat and formal. I love all of the architectural features.
We do only film the nice bits 👍 Thank as always 🙏👍🌈
It's because there's rules you have to abide by to live there including paying to upkeep the roads and area, not being able to add in hedges, fences or walls in your garden without permission and not being able to park certain vehicles in your driveway
I grow up in bournville as a child and it’s such a beautiful place
Glad we could bring some memories back. We enjoyed filming there. Can’t wait for lockdown to finish so we can go further afield. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, it makes what we do worthwhile. Thanks 🌈👍
@@CarolandDerek very welcome. I’m waiting for lockdown to finish so I can take my partner to where I grow up and show him around properly
@@sophiedidierserre2679 you will soon be able to do that, keep safe 🌈🙏👍
@@CarolandDerek and you
I totally agree I grew up on green meadow Rd
Bournville Village founded and built by the Cadbury family for its employees. Can we imagine anything like this today? So well designed and so well crafted and so well maintained and well over one hundred years old.
Thanks for adding a comment Kevin. It still has a feeling of being loved. Thanks again 🙏👍
Perfect music for a fairytale-like town!
Thanks as always for your encouraging words 👍🙏🌈
My nan and grandad used to live on maple road, my mum and auntie grew up there I have very fond memories spending time there as a child

@@CarolandDerek Stunning! Who else would love to live there? Now I can't wait to watch the Hampton Court one, if it can top this, I'd be very surprised!..I'm also going to research George Cadbury, I think most of those chocolate makers were Quakers?
Aww I remember going there! I went there about 4 or 5 times, once even on a school trip!
Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🙏
@@CarolandDerek ✨✨
So pretty there. I really like how the houses are so different from ones here in Canada. I especially liked Sycamore Road 👌
It is a nice spot 👍🙏🌈
i grew up on elm road which is just round the corner from sycamore road.... in summer there you could smell the chocolate coming from the Cadbury factory !
Your music was my dad's favorite! Beautiful place! ATB Kaat 😁

Love this one! How
Many walks do you guys have? Really loved how blur the sky is at the end!
They are only short walks and we always try to film two a week. We started to do them just for us to look back on. But it seems to have become a bit of a passion. Keep safe guys 👍🙏🌈
Having watched several of your latest videos in one hit, it’s amazing how far you have come in respect of the filming and editing. Thoroughly enjoyed them, and thanks for sharing 👍

We can’t we are both dairy and gluten intolerant 🙁
What a Wonderful Village I love the places the houses and filming so awesome.

Beautiful! Love those amazing wood-timbered buildings. The village overall is great to walk through. It's brick buildings are great too. Very nice. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀👍
Thanks we are going to a little area we love today. Hope we can do it justice. You have a good one too. 🎥🌈👍
Thanks for taking us around the beautiful village !! I love the houses and street views. Lovely tour 😍👍👌
You know it’s a hobby for us but your comments area appreciated and make it even better, so thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it 🎥🌈👍
Nice video of my local area. One small quibble - the relocated medieval manor house is Selly Manor, not Sally Manor.
Thank you 🙏 will try to correct that 👍 we will have to cut that small section out or pin your comment 🤔 but thanks for letting us know ♥️🎥
as an a level geographer, bournville is one of my case studies. I had learnt that due to the quaker influence in the village, you werent allowed to consume alcohol in bournville, but unless im mistaken i think i saw a man drinking a beer at the rest house. Have i misunderstood, or is this law not really practiced anymore?
You have asked and I must find out 🤔😉 there are still restrictions and all the buildings can’t be altered. I will see what I can find 🙏👍
You are correct 👍 BUT, you can get a drink if you are a resident of the hotel or if you are having a meal 😱😉
It's a very nice place but there's rules that you have to follow when you live in the village, otherwise you will be asked to leave the village.
We know but it keeps its atmosphere. Thanks for taking the time to comment we really appreciate it 🙏👍😉
Bournville is not a Village it is just a district of Birmingham and has been for many years.
But it is tightly controlled and it is still known as a village by some who live there. If you could add a bit more historical or local information in the comments. People who are interested do read the comments 👍🙏 thank you 🙏
@@CarolandDerek Bournville is definitely not tightly controlled, it was built by the Cadbury family to house workers at the nearby Cadbury Chocolate factory when they moved their chocolate making factory from Birmingham out to a green field site on what was then open fields which at the time was in Worcestershire, it was called Bournville because it was built on the banks of the Bourn Brooke and ville a French word for village hence Bournville, because the Cadbury Brothers wanted the then Village to sound a bit posh, these house were rented to the managers and higher grade workers of Cadbury's who rented them from the Cadbury Family and as they were Quakers there were no pubs in the then village, for the other workers the Cadbury family had a station built on the Birmingham to Bristol Line and the women worker were escorted to and from the station for safety. Over the years Birmingham and it's boundaries expanded and finally engulfed Bournville and it carried on getting bigger past Bournville taking in Selly Oak, Longbridge and Rednal taking over these areas from Worcestershire County Council, as the years past Cadbury's became a part of Kraft Foods/Mondolaze and the workers houses past to a housing association called the Bournville Housing Trust, so now all though it has a Village type look it is not as people are thinking a tiny English Village, but now a district of the City of Birmingham, Birmingham has a couple of more strange areas such as Yardley Village, Moseley Village, Erdington Village, Harbourne Village, Kings Norton Village and even a Royal Town, Sutton Coldfield all just districts of Birmingham now. In your video you show all these timber framed cottages, but these are just museum pieces in the center of Bourneville still owned I believe by Cadbury's, but the rest of the Houses as I mentioned are now owned by a housing association within the City of Birmingham and even though it has a quaint feeling about Bournville, it s not a little isolated English Village in the middle of the Country side, but it is a very nice part of Birmingham still with no pubs with the Cadbury Factory still there producing Chocolate. I actually do not live far away being a Brummie.
When i think england, i think this.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. We have just popped over to your place and pressed all the buttons 🙏👍

In awe of the architecture in my beautiful home of Bournville. This is how the world could be without capitalism.
Thank you for making a very important point. You live in a wonderful and beautiful area 👍🙏
@@CarolandDerek Thank you so much. Love your channel ♥️
Built on capitalist ideology, if you want to see Socialist villages go to Romania theyre not playing Vaughn Williams music I can assure you, I've been on mission there, better yet go to other districts of b'ham to see welfare socialism.
@@vincentwilliams8685 Romania is a victim of capitalist austerity. Romania isn't socialist. But Sweden & Norway are - and multiple years of polling and research reveal they're two of the happiest places to live in the whole world. Furthermore, the idea that George Cadbury's founding of Bournville and the kind, generous way he treated his workers was somehow born from capitalist ideology is laughable. Have a great day though :)
@@tamekam7937 mention Ceausescu in Romania and they'll tell you what they think of socialism.
