    They are all news bites. This tour was after Kim and Kanye started an online bullying campaign and the press came after her which led to her not being seen for a year. She came back with the reputation album and this tour and clapped back at her haters. I heard she invited all the reporters from those news bites to the tour and didn’t tell them she was going to be using those clips. I love how when she gets hate she uses it as fuel to make an amazing album.

    You are in the majority with Taylor not being on your radar for the last decade or so. The industry tended to make her out as a pop princess and as I heard one person put it, they had an image of her still being 19 and singing Disney songs in their minds. This tour took place when she was 27-28.
    Taylor's greatest strength is her ability to morph and continually prove people wrong. Even if you don't like one particular song or album of hers try another one. She literally has something for everyone. And hardcore Swifties support her no matter what genre she goes down because her lyrics are so relatable no matter what the vibe is sonically. Her ballads are brutal and will get you in your feels.
    Live with a big production, acoustic (she plays guitar and piano), or videos, no matter what it is she pushes the limits of creativity. Her stage shows are like the biggest Broadway production ever and her videos are like mini-movies.

      Guilty. I never paid attention until about 2 weeks ago due to a reaction video. My eyes were opened and I felt sad that I was not as open minded as I like to think I am as a person. I just ignored her. When I saw a few of her videos. after I scraped my jaw off the ground. decided to see what others thought in these reactions. I always knew she was a songwriter but, found her songwriting to be intelligent and clever.
      I just posted on this thread how it is sad that Miley Cyrus, who cannot make up her mind as to what kind of singer she wants to be so now decided to copy Taylor Swift. Miley is getting praise and respect for copying Taylor while the press and public turn up their noses at the original. Explain that to me.

  • @user-c704
    @user-c704 7 месяцев назад +44

    Taylor writes all of her own songs. She occasionally has co-writers and she works with producers but she is the main one in creative control, ESPECIALLY with lyrics. She's a true poet, in my opinion. I agree with you that her live performances are amazing and you get to see that aspect of her artistry. I do also really recommend her music videos though! She makes them feel like films, they're so high-level. If you like this Reputation tour, I'd suggest her Look What You Made Me Do music video. That song is from this same album.
    For further lyrical genius, the albums Folklore and Evermore are fan faves. The Long Pond Studio Sessions are video recordings of the Folklore songs, and she and her collaborators filmed interviews/conversations about the songs as well. I highly recommend you add those to your list as you fall down the Taylor rabbit hole!

    First of all, this isn't Don't Blame Me -- this is Intro/Ready For It. LOL And yes, the intro is all made up of real sound bites. Red lips have been her signature for over a decade, but she's never partnered with any makeup company as far as I know. And don't worry, we all have a crush on her. I think she's best live, so I was happy to hear you say you prefer that - there are SO many performances for you to watch! The other song from this tour that you should watch is I Did Something Bad. Then I'd suggest something more intimate - Cornelia Street Live in Paris.

    I love your reaction so much and the fact that you acknowledged Taylor is a pretty girl with sex appeal. I’m so tired of seeing some people say she’s the most plain Jane, boring white girl who can’t sing and has terrible music. The truth is, in my opinion, the opposite of all those things is true. She’s a beautiful young lady, a very talented young lady and an amazing entertainer who doesn’t have to be practically naked to get attention. She plays numerous instruments, writes all of her own songs and performs them, has won numerous awards, etc. The haters say she’s overrated; however, I think she’s earned every award and accolade that she’s been given. Above all that, she’s an incredibly kind human being. And this is all from a female who could almost be her mom. I love Taylor and hate the abuse she takes in the media and online. It’s so uncalled for. But I’m glad that you’re getting into her discography. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how good her music truly is. And contrary to what some might have you believe, her songs aren’t all teenage love songs. 😊

    @JenniferDomitrovits-xu9df 7 месяцев назад +27

    It’s impressive that you picked up on how she was turning the tables on what people were saying about her so quickly. 😊
    Swift is well known for her “clap backs”. Several of the songs on Reputation were exactly that. Reputation was a comeback album/tour after her cancellation in 2016. I Did Something Bad is along the same lines and the tour performance is a lot of fun to watch.
    Look What You Made Me Do is from Reputation and a full-blown clap back. The tour performance is very good, but I recommend the music video. The visuals in the video are an important part of the song. This song/video were the first Swift dropped about a year after her cancellation and they announced her comeback. (Long story surrounding the cancellation, but at least one important thing to know is that Swift was called a “snake” and bombarded with snake emojis during that whole ordeal.)
    The music video for Blank Space is also a lot of fun. It’s poking fun at the media portrayal of Swift as a “serial dater”.

    I have not followed much the music world in past couple decades due life. Jumped in couple years ago and this past winter Taylor has jumped on my radar through this tour videos first. I think I did something bad was what really sold her for me from this tour. But there is so much more to find out. I think if you want to see totally different part of her with videos that are directed by her too you should do first cardigan and then willow. That is besides the I did something bad live version from this tour. There is AMA performance from that too but imo it is not that well filmed tho it is good performance too. I would stick with the version from this concert.
    And yeah I know what you are talking about with having image from younger her and not being on date with how old she actually is. I had that same problem too since she had just jumped in to the music world when I stopped really listening music for couple decades. But it has been fun to find her as an artist now. There is so much to find out. I think you would probably also like the bits there are from her creating her songs for the reputation album. Those are the bits that I find most interesting...how someone creates their art.

    You were, in fact, NOT ready for it!
    You talked about whether or not you'd relate to songs written by a 19 year old, but I'd be willing to bet that if you were to listen to her earlier stuff, you would be surprised how relatable it is. Her album 'Speak Now' is my personal favorite (48 year old cis straight man) and I can easily relate to most of the songs.
    Taylor went through absolute hell after she released her '1989' album (which was a complete shift in style from most of her previous stuff), to the point that she literally disappeared from public view for pretty much an entire year. When she came out of hiding, she wiped all her socials and said that there would be no explanation, there would only be reputation.
    If you do watch more performances from this tour (or Eras Tour, for that matter), keep in mind that the concert films were recorded over 2-3 nights of performances, so you might see some minor inconsistencies in some of the shots.

    Reputation is my favorite album and to see your first two experiences with songs from it....makes me so happy. I don't understand why people are so set on relating to an artist and their lyrics. (this isn't a dig at the reactor of this channel but in general) Shouldn't it also be about hearing someone else's experience. Doesn't some songs bring you back to your youngest self. I'm not just talking about Taylor but in general. I notice that a lot with Olivia Rodrigo. I'm 36 and I can't relate to most of her music now but my younger self feels validated! People my age don't want to give her a chance because "she's too young and unrelatable."

    Yep, all the shit was real. After the whole Kim and Kayne, where they leaked the phone call that Taylor didn't even know was being taped where Kim edited it to make it look like Taylor was a liar. Additionally, Kim posted that Taylor was a snake, trying to destroy her, and took a huge hit on Taylor's reputation, and Taylor stopped being in public for over a year.
    Finally, the entire unedited phone call was released, she was vindicated, but the damage was already done. This is the tour and some songs as a clap-back to them and the world where she basically said, "I am going to do my one thing and f-you to everyone that tried to keep me down". Taylor uses the visual of the snake to let those who came after her (Kim calling her a snake) and turned it back on them.

    Her 'Bad Blood' video with Kendrick Lemar is fantastic & so is 'Blank space'. She uses all the crap the media & haters say about her & uses her music to either mock it or she exaggerates the 'so called behavior' to 'live up' to their nonsense. Lots of pretty celebrity cameos in Bad Blood, too LOL. To see the sweet side of her, check out 'The Christmas tree farm'. She is reminiscing about being raised in Pennsylvania on a Christmas tree farm & it has clips of her when she was little. We even get to see her get her first guitar Christmas morning. The vibe is like from the 50's or something & her voice is beautiful & ya kinda see where she came from too. She is barely in her video for 'All too well', but she made an incredible 10 minute 'movie' for it & the actors play her & Jake Gyllenhaal, whom she dated for a few intense months, when she was 20. Her song 'The moment I knew' was also about him & how he missed her 21st birthday party... which is also mentioned in 'All too well'. That is a stripped down, song where there is no flash, just Taylor, telling her story. She is an amazing writer, for herself & others, including Rihanna & Calvin Harris & even some rapper you may know, named B.O.B. to name a few. She even wrote a song for the movie 'Hunger Games'. She is super generous with charity donations & even just donated $100,000 to the family of the victim killed in the Superbowl Chiefs parade a couple days ago. She gave away a total of $55 MILLION to her employees in bonuses for her tour. Sound techs, riggers, backup singers & dancers, caterers, truck drivers... EVERYONE got a life changing amount of money. This woman is Bad ass to the bone. I love her live performance for 'Vigilante shit'. Her song about Scooter Braun who screwed her out of her music. She got him back. Rerecorded her music & helped his wife divorce him. Great song! LOL

    Hey there! Lifelong Chiefs fan, newer Swiftie (since November 2023)
    I think this Intro is so important as it shows the constant criticism, and lives under a magnifying glass 24/7/365.
    Taylor isn't the goodie two shoe singer who writes breakup songs wbo dates guy after guy. That's how I saw her. In all honesty I wasn't quite sure how her and Travis were a match.
    Taylor writes all her own music (occasional collab), but she is always involved in every part. Writes, directs, you name it, she does it.
    I think next step would be check out a music video. End Game with Ed Sheeran and Future. It's over the top!
    Next would be a performance when she is on stage alone playing the guitar or piano. Totally acoustic.
    Have fun on the journey! 😂
    Your reaction is so consistent with EVERY reaction video on RUclips right now to Taylor.

    Her live performances and her videos showcase 2 very different sides of her talent and both are worth watching for different reasons. The videos can also give some helpful context to the lyrics or story behind them or her concept of the song, which is also helpful. But her live performances are definitely more exciting and satisfying most of the time IMO. A few songs are better with the context of the video visuals. Welcome to the rabbit hole. I entered the hole about 8 months ago and can’t get out. 😂
