Cool Ben. I was going to show my followers this too. They liked the new Middle Black, well some did. You'll get better at editing gopro footage. It takes time. The reason you're getting wind noise is 100% you not having something blocking the wind from coming into the mics. I have been using the foam windslayer that goes over the wholee cam for all my gopros now for a few years. Its the trick!

my dad and i just rode the full black mountain trail and it was awesome! club gab was a tough and exhausting hike a bike climb though i won't lie. i 100% wanna do it again the next time im up there
Went up from Presley. Its 2.1 miles I think from there to Turkey Pen intersection and mostly pedalable. I would suggest going the long way around on weekends though.
This isn't "Upper Upper Black," is it? IOW, when you go up Clawhammer do you make a left onto Upper Upper(which runs into Avery Creek trail) or a right onto just Upper Black which goes straight down?
It is the traditional route (in my mind) of Upper Black which would be taking a right onto Black from Clawhammer and going through the hike-a-bike sections and the awesome view from the cliff top then descending down to Turkey Pen Gap. The new section is from Turkey Pen?Black intersection down to Maxwell and then from Maxwell down to Lower has been reworked also. The terms Upper Black, Full Black, Upper Upper Black...some folks call this section Upper Middle Black....and all of those have been so convoluted over the years. If someone says "full Black" I assume they mean from the intersection of Avery/Black/Buckwheat up snd over and all the way down to the parking lot at the Welcome Center / Smokers Cove. If someone says they are riding Black Mountain I assume they leave the Upper Upper out of the equation. Im sure that wasn't a useful answer.
I road Saturday (Feb 12) to entrance of middle black. Anyway I came up Maxwell to the point where upper black ends. A rider told me that the best way to do upper black and to avoid the hike a bike is to pedal up it. I did this for about a qtr mile and then turned around. I was thinking it was only one way and I would interrupt some down hill riders. Anyway, has anyone else done this - pedaled up upper black from middle black intersection w/ Maxwell? I am in my 60’s and don’t really desire to do 2 miles of hike a bike on Upper/Upper black and Club Gap. Thanks.
@@benstep2 a lot of people climb up from Maxwell. All the trails in Pisgah are multi-use and non-directional. The climb up is pretty mellow but there are a couple of switchbacks / grade reversals that are rideable by most people. Climbing up from Maxwell is son popular the route has its own name "Out and Black" is what it is called, and that's especially true if you climb all the way from the road up.
Is this a reroute of the upper black mountain above the new/reroute of middle black? Or, is this the new middle black, which ends at the top of lower black. It wasn't clear which part you were talking about. Enjoyed the video.

I need to ride this sometime. I always end up deciding to do Avery instead. Once freeze-thaw is over :)
Come and get it now! The weather is perfect and freeze thaw is still a few weeks away. Let me know what you think after you ride it!

That run looks Fun! Pisgah is on my Bucket list. The wind noise didnt seem to bad to me. I know it annoys a lot of people though,lol.

Did you hike from Buckhorn gap or is it better to go up from Presley gap at the middle black intersection?

Awesome! I plan on going back and doing that route now that I know it is popular to go up to go back down Upper Black!!!
