Vetrix is that yugioh villian, ruthless, but also good at the game, he's got plays he has recursion with his spells/traps and in a format that heavily relies on xyz he chose the right numbers to have in his deck

Vetrix is like that one deranged yandere-type anime villain. He has that crazy yet cutesy vibe that I enjoy seeing in anime villains. Whoever voiced Kite, Yuma, Hart and, of course, my favorite villain in the show, Vetrix all deserve an award and did a really phenomenal job voice acting in this episode!
Man that duel was extreme... and so is Vetrix's ability to absorb anger like that tbh. Really sad Kite didn't win here, but it was obvious anyway due to the MC always beating the villain in Yugioh (well, "main" villain, anyway). Also, RIP Kite's numbers and hard work...
There are exceptions to the rule besides 5ds. Dm's Ziegfried vs Kaiba, Gx's Yubel who didn't actually lose her final duel, Zexal and Arc-V as well have main antagonists who are not defeated by the protagonist. (Did not name them due to spoilers as they are newer series)

This loss was a big shock the first time I watched this. A lot of us wanted to see Yuma vs Kite in the finals. I get Vetrix is more villain and Kite is more of a rival. As much as I enjoy Kite’s Plight, I still wanted to see Yuma beat Kite once.
