My 86 year old mum, recently diagnosed with vascular dementia, has never had any interest whatsoever in any kind of music.
After a really bad day she was lying in bed and nearly dozed off, while I listened to this on the speakers. After the song finished, she said: "That was beautiful". Yeah. Killed me.
That moment in time is equally as beautiful and depressing as the song that inspired it

I know. I listen to every QOTSA album repeatedly but this one, it feels so perfectly put together like this beautiful work of art and I just sound full of cliches but saying anything else doesn't do it justice. This album is made with something that's in me, I guess idk

This song is meant to be played live. The album version is good, but by god, live versions always sound better.
I disagree. This is a great live version but the synths in the studio recording make the track for me.
@@ryline666 I agree the synths help the mood and build in the studio. By the time it gets to 2:35 and Josh sings triumphantly "im alive" then immediately follows it with a somber "hooray" that sounds cold and empty. Chills every time. Ive seen them live and its always great but its not quite as brilliant as the album. I appear missing on the other hand....
