Imagine writing a song this cool and then continuing to exist normally afterwards.
Probably not for us to understand
Must be nice 💜
even listening such a cool song and continuing to exist normally is hard for me !!!
Right?! Eat food, pay taxes, casually throw these down-the-rabbit-hole tracks, feed your pets?! Damn I’m just sitting here dribbling at this track. Losing it.
Who says Josh exists normally???
Once you really dive into this band, other bands don’t stand a chance.
Give a chance to Deaf Radio
@@panuntukan sounds like a bonus track on songs for the deaf
Maybe
Once was a Montreal-based band called Priestess. Check them out, and if at all possible, send them some love. They were the only opening band for STP that got chanted by 80K people to head back out on the stage. Festival d'été de Québec, 2008. I was in that crowd, as an STP and Priestess fan. Well, I hollered "Priestess" too!!
I just stumbled across Rival Sons last night. The lead singer is absolutely incredible
This riff is like the pure essence of Homme style. Broken, robotic, and loaded.
perfectly put into words!
Yep. There are three unmatched, bigger-than-life, Josh Homme riffs: this one, the one on Better Living..., and that on You Can't Quit Me... How can you write those three songs and then all the others (including those previous badass, beautiful Kyuss songs? How's that even possible? Tell me.
It's NUCKIN FUTS I tells ya.
Fast Savannah someone’s in the wolf is up there too
@@josephbelford4163 Oh yes!
Dave was right. It’s stupidly unfair how good they are on stage.

"Tug of peace? I gotta piece to tug" holy shit lmaooo
i don’t get it
That slide guitar adds an incredible ominous feeling to the song. Man this is amazing
I got a piece to tuck (;
The sound feels good
Troy always slays that shit whenever he plays it. Always great when they use it
It’s called a lap steel
"WOOOOOOOOHHHH-EEEEEEEEEHHH- UUUUUUUUHHHHH" -Troy Van Leuween
Was that on the original track? It sounds great here. Edit: 05:37 or so if anyone is looking.
@@ThomB1031 It is! You can hear it louder here because of the mix though
I just listened to this for an hour and just focused on TVL.......wooooof.
So very sinister.
what a man.
There's something so charming about calling a song "I think I lost my headache" when it deliberately tries to leave your mind reeling after you've heard it
I wonder if ppl realise what an amazing bass player mikey truly is
I love Nick, especially his vocals...but Mikey is the best bassist they've had. Like clockwork had some incredible riffs. Mini Mansions, his side project, are dope if you ain't listened before.
@@Misfits822 Yep exactly. And thanks for the tip, actually haven't.
That dude kills it
Man ever since i saw this when it came out in like 08 I've wanted a Gibson Ripper bass, just because of how hard Mikey rips in this!!!
I play bass and he makes me think I have never even touched a bass.
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IN THE BANTER. THE BANTER IS ALMOST THE BEST PART

How can you sound so damn tight?!!! Like its better than the album version!
Because this is the best version of the band.
@@gnarkiller Skill-wise I 100% agree. Though something tells me nothing can match those early lineup’s vibes.
definitely not better than album version and not tighter either he occasionally misses the beat
@@gnarkillerlive wise the best version of the band is wish Jon instead of Joey, love Joey especially his studio work but Jon is more technically skilled and is a flawless live performer something Joey never was. The current lineup for the last decade is truly a flawless live band with chemistry absolute through the roof, they sound so good on their current tour right now. Joey pretty often rushed drumming kept them from being as tight as they are with Jon
"Sorry... I was thinkin about french Canada" 😂
don't catch this joke?
@@hudon71 me neither, but being french canadian it made me laugh!
There's nothing to catch. He's just being random and silly.
Hmmm...French Canada...
Their sound, their groove, their melodies being catchy but never trite, the chord progressions being always cool and unique (they often use modal interchange), their arrangements. All this and other things make this band one of the best ever. This particular song is just incredible.
Total agree
People sleep on this band man
@@romerosneck It's not good because they really are something incredible and unique.
@@spiritualconnection4807 my gf's attitude towards them is that their riffs are repetitive but I think if you think that you aren't listening to all the nuances. But then again that's what snobs say 😂
@@romerosneck The point of stoner rock is repetitive riffs but groovy as fuck. Then add Joshua's melodies on top, some great solos, great drums and basslines and you have a masterpiece. Their last two albums are completely different from the others because they aren't as riff based as the others. Does your girlfriend know them? By the way all riff based songs have pretty repetitive riffs, the ability of the band is obtaining the best out of them and Josh and co. are awesome at this.
Queens are single-handedly holding down rock and roll for all mankind right now.
Not really anymore. Their peak was 20 years ago, we need a newer thing.
@@alexmalch wack
Don’t forget mastodon even tho they’re metal that still counts as rock n roll. I agree tho QOTSA fuckin rules, new record was real solid and they sound incredible on tour rt now
@@alexmalchor some people, many people think their best record was like clockwork and it was pretty much universally acclaimed, plus their new record is good and they sound amazing on tour right now. They’re absolutely still holding it down for rock n roll, same with mastodon
@@puppetmaster8551 Like Clockwork even for its acclaim is STILL underrated. That opening track is so freaking good.
Josh Homme clapping for himself at the end really makes this next level.
So I'm guessing many people here have seen the video of Josh playing one of George Harrison's guitars. He said "there's some things that you feel like you shouldn't do, and this is one of those." One day the same thing is going to happen to him. Legends, both of them.
There is so much aesthetic in this song. Stuck inside hiding from the desert heat, paranoid in the late 90s.

The accuracy on Mikey's fret hand always blows my god damned mind.
He's amazing. Such precision.
Mikey is the fuckin man, so happy he’s still a member all these years later. The bass on I appear missing especially during live performances is legendary. Great musician, hope he’s in the band as long as they are around

I never knew Qotsa had filmed an episode for From the Basement, this is truly a blessing
Me too
Me either!!
This is probably the best take on this song, close second being the 2005 live at Belfort with natasha on the keys
RIP Natasha
I would vote Belfort as the best version.
This is decent but the Belfort live version is even better! Plus Natasha's singing on there is sublime
Got to be Montreaux 2005 version for me. Natasha on keys and vocals plus Josh’s vocals were on different level.
100% agree
Great band, great sound, great era. Every incarnation of QOTSA is gold, but there was really something special about this lineup, and Songs for the Deaf.
I agree. I've loved most everything they've put out, but every once in awhile for years now I get the urge to have a whole album session with Rated R, Songs for the Deaf, or Era Vulgaris. There is something almost other wordly and so surreal about those albums. Especially the first two I mentioned.
@@TheFos88 Totally. Truly music that would never have been made without the people, place, and time it was made with/in. Other worldly and surreal is right on the money lol.
my fave lineup is Rated R - Era Vulgaris.
@@TheFos88 rated r and songs for the deaf are a must listen
@@TheFos88 Era Vulgaris is the best out of those three , straight Nirvana vibes

Joey and Mikey Shoes friggin killed this
When people ask me what rock bands are worthy post 90's QOTSA Is my only answer.
I've been looking for the "Tug of Peace" version of ITILMH for years. Thanks so much for uploading!
Rock n’ roll lives here. Put these fellas in the hall of fame.
Man.... I miss Joey. What a beast! His take on this amazing song was perfect. The ending was incredible. Great drummer. Shame he left.
I know. I was fully heartbroken and for me it was the exact moment they went absolutely hurtling downhill. I was buzzing when I found out he was in the Bronx now! I have no idea how that passed me by
He's not a good drummer though. Jon Theodore is a genius I'll take Jon everyday. Probably one of the best rock n roll drummers in the last 20 years.
Nothing is the same in this band since Sexy Mexy left.
@@makeluck3659 energy and presence matter aswell as technique
Makeluck365 first off: Yes, Jon is incredible. I’m a MASSIVE fan of every Mars Volta record he played on. Absolutely brilliant stuff. But he’s completely underutilized in Queens. His playing is downright boring on Villains. On top of that, he plays the older stuff kind of weak. He’s not hitting nearly as hard as Dave or Joey did.
Again, I love Jon. But I question if he’s a right fit for Queens.
Spun Rated R countless times. My favorite of theirs
Yes! My favourite aswell! Its just só good, song after song!!! Next id say lullabies to paralyse, i think that's a really really good album as a whole...

Me: Sounds good, let's hear it!
I’ve hung with Josh on various business and mutual friends occasions. Freaking Hilarious and presence a little intimidating. Just such a Big Dude. Want him on your side,,shit goes down lol
I like how there's no audience it's just them playing in a studio. Usually you would hear clapping and applause, yet it it's so quiet you could her a pin drop. It's almost like the band is just your typical band jamming in the garage you would play with your friends back in the day. Cool video!
Josh is wearing just a hoodie, Troy and Dean are wearing jackets, Mikey is wearing a long sleeve shirt and Joey is wearing a short sleeve shirt. What is the temperature in that room?!
hhhot
It's gotta be pretty cool if Joey has a shirt on
The soundtrack to my mental breakdown
Very king crimson like intro, buy with a definite queen of the stone age Sound and soul to it. Love it!
One of their most underappreciated songs
that solo josh improvsied in the end.. my god..
Glad they put these back on here. I use to watch them all the time in 8th grade and they just disappeared. Good time to be alive minus the virus and riots lmao
20 years ago from today, Rated R was released. Masterpiece!!!
My favorite album of theirs by far. I played it every day for about a year.
Saw them in Torquay Australia the other night. Best setlist I've ever seen from not only them, but any other band live. This was the only song i didn't know that night and honestly it was one of the best performances. Imagine walking away from a show and the only track you didn't know was the one you kept thinking about after. Thank you for coming to the coast to play.

These guys have such a cool sound. I always forget how much I like them until I hear them.
The drummer is an absolute savage 🔥
this is the sound I fell in Love with......seems something inside me that wake´s up and don´t want to stop.........Man I miss that era....
Same. This sound is distinctive, the QOTSA monster waking up. I've always preferred the slovenly fuzz of the earlier albums over the gloss of the latter. More of a drug haze, less self-aware. The chaos of Josh's polka-influenced riffs, crashing against the other instruments with wonderful circus-like disharmony. It's perfectly realised. Good times.
Most definitely 😏
