At first, I thought that leaving the white areas blank left a really bright and vibrant design, but when I saw the richness and cohesion the addition of the brown that you chose gave to those areas, I was amazed by the beauty that your choice gave the whole design. Whether you know it or not, you have a real gift for choosing colors that bring out the best in each other. I can see when colors look good together and when they don't, but I can't pull a color palette out of thin air and choose one for myself. It is really frustrating. Anyway, the design, when you had finished it was absolutely beautiful. Explaining, how and why certain colors are put into specific areas is what helps me to learn, and I really appreciate your taking the time to do that. Thank you so much for showing us this truly lovely artwork.

Thank you so much for your beautiful comment! I love creating colour palettes - sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t haha. But I really enjoyed making this video so will definitely make more like this in the future 😊

Love your color choices on the mandala and your choice of browns for the inset pieces. Lovely. Thanks for sharing your thought processes. I’ve tried to have all my colors already planned out in my head and that is very difficult at times. I’m starting a page in Mandalas w/Beautiful Borders vol 5. Going to try your suggested technique from this video and see how I get along. Hopefully calmer 😂. Thanks for sharing. 😊

YES for sure a studio tour would be awesome to see! Im guessing yours is very neat and organised with many copies of your mandala books 😊 Do you ever get a chance to color mandala's by other authors?

Haha fairly neat and organized 😉 and yes, I do have lots of copies of my books. I don’t have too much extra time to colour in other authors books. I have a few Johanna Basford books though that I like to colour in occasionally. I have a separate instagram account where I post those pages (nicolacolours). I’m hoping to film a studio tour soon 🤞🏻

Sure thats understandable not having much extra time to color in books by other authors given all the mandala's you've hand drawn and colored. I was curious where your inspiration comes from? Do you follow any mandala artists outside of coloring books? One of my favs is Lizzie Snow, her youtube channel is fortyonehundred. Just cant get enough of mandalas somedays, lol!

I don’t follow other artists but I’ll check her out! My inspiration comes from my love of nature and my yoga practice. I’ve always been fascinated by mandalas, very drawn to them for their spiritual quality. I find them so peaceful 🙏🏻💕

Oh thanks Nicola i appreciate that, let me know what you think of her mandalas, she also has a few courses on Domestika. Yes i can relate to feeling fascinated by mandalas, its easy to get lost in them, very peaceful as well 😊

If you leave the outer circle white, it makes the inner part look like it's floating! That would be the way I would go. Isn't diversity great!
