Only Islam can change and improve all problems in society, any society anywhere in the world. Because Islam is the truth. "La ilaha ilal Allah Muhammadan Rasululah".
It is important to understand that all of the Quran is valid for Muslims. Some Muslims will take Muhammad's final mandate to make war against unbelievers as the way to live their lives. They may seek to follow the example he set in all areas of life. Some may even marry a young girl still playing with dolls as he did. (Whether it is allowed really depends on location.) She was six and the consummation of the marriage happened when she was nine. Other Muslims only want to focus on the peaceful surahs and be friends with everyone. Islam is more than a religion. It is comprehensive encompassing all aspects of life for Muslims. I think it is important to study the hadiths and the life of Muhammad in conjunction with the Quran. It is also important to study the Islamic Slave Trade and learn about the 17 to 19 million Africans that were captured. Many African men were castrated. Many of the captives died on route. It is important to learn all aspects of history.

But unlike the White man, I'm sure the Muslim Arabs treated them less harsh and most likely with more dignity. Slavery is bad, make no mistake, but it was also an accepted form of business then for any society at the time and Muslim Arabs had rules and regulations when it came to slaves. For example, if a slave decided to convert to Islam, they would have to be freed (FYI, forcing Islam is not allowed, it must be sincere and of their own free will). And alternatively, a slave could buy back their freedom. The slaves were also allowed to marry anyone they wanted, slave or free. That said, while prostituting a slave was not allowed, there is the issue of the slave owner of being able to sexually exploit a female slave. However, that is really the only real criticism. There was simply nothing in the Quran saying you can or can't do that. It was just the culture and society back then. And fortunately, Muslims are told to follow the law of the land. So, hey.. good news, slavery is not allowed in any modern society, therefore they cannot commit slavery, so it's a null and void criticism.
Lastly, Islam preaches religion over race, tribe, class, etc. The color of your skin, where you're from, whether you're a slave or a king, etc does not matter.
Every "Muslim" is equal if they worship the same one God and believe Muhammed was his last messenger. Slavery wasn't racial if they were Muslim, it was a matter of business or war.

TI believe these Arabs were not practicing and still many in Northern Africa and Saudi government true Islam . They racist.
