"Long Time Ago" is so beautiful and elegant. Not many basses have the vocal control (and the volume control) to sing something like this...and in such a refined manner.

I sang these songs three years ago with my choir and an orchestra. I bought me a cat was always my favorite. I'm so glad that I found this. Thank you for posting!!

One thing that really makes this song is the piano. Here it trips just right through the melody, never heavy and never too fast for the vocals to keep up with. The mix of tempos is perfect. If the piano isn't right, the whole song is thrown off. Here it's fine, very fine.

Warren Jones is the quintessential accompanist. He understands that "accompanist" means that the piano is meant "to accompany" and not, as so many others seem to think, "pound the piano as loudly as possible and drown out the singer. I've heard Ramey live with Jones as accompanist, and the two work brilliantly together. P.S. Any accompanist who attempted to drown out Samuel Ramey would utterly fail. That's one big, glorious voice.

msumuel The low voice has The Boatmen's Dance in D major. The "medium" voice (aka the original) is in E major. There are a few websites that will transpose the music to any key you like.

Do you know if the low voice set has "The Boatman's Dance" in CM? The samples I'm finding online are all in DM. Thanks!
