  • My favorite part of this video starts at @3:45 - minimalism did not solve my clutter issues. In this video, you will learn 10 habits to declutter your whole house this year!
Erica Lucas focuses on providing decluttering inspiration, organization ideas, and real-life videos about my minimalism journey , slow living, and simple living.
Decluttering one drawer, one cabinet, or one space at a time makes it easier to manage stuff on daily basis. To start decluttering, I empty out the space, decide what I want to keep, then evaluate the unchosen items for decluttering, donation, keep, or trash. Join me as I declutter, organize, and our home in this video today!

Wow! 6ish years of decluttering and something finally clicked when you said “what emotion does the item hold”. We were always taught to not give an item emotion to make it easier to declutter. I just looked around my living room and saw a few things that made me frustrated. There, GONE! What a lightbulb 😆

Erica, I appreciate your gentle calmness so much. I love how you allow space for grace and emotions in your journey to a more simple life, and you inspire us to do likewise. I have one "difficult" box left to deal with from when my mum died just over 4 years ago - this weekend, I'm going to give myself grace and the gift of working through that box.

Thank you Erica! You have shown me the questions to ask when I am Decluttering. I have decluttered 2 6 foot closets down to 1 closet with room to spare. I had been trying to declutter things I have had for decades. The emotions of getting rid of things you have had so long it is hard to deal with. You are helping sooooo much!

Reached a level yesterday: walking out of thrift store with 1 item only. Genuinely didn't want more and actually purchased the one item I'd been shopping for where typically 1 item then equals, "might as well get this and this too". 😊 just had a moment afterwards where I realized I felt the wanting of less...

Erica, glad you are continuing to share your fantastic advice with those who need it, especially in the New Year as most people begin the “New Year - New You - Better life” process. Having watched you from the beginning, I can easily recommend your channel to other people and vouch that the advice you give in your videos is worthwhile and thoughtful, built on the experience of having gone through the process and done the hard work yourself. I have gleaned some great advice from you over the years and loved watching you grow and your lifestyle progress to a healthier and more balanced place.

Yes! I have a tote right outside my garage door and I can open the door throw stuff in so it’s out of site until I leave the house then I can throw it in the trunk and go drop it off. Sometimes when it’s getting full I’ll post the items in my local free stuff group and I don’t even have to go drop it off

Appreciate the straight, real talk about each person has to declutter for themselves. They have to make those decisions. Seems we live in a culture that thinks they can hire that element out and the distinction between organization and decluttering/maintenance needs to be made 👍

I enjoy watching your videos Erica because you are always very real. You also show how important it is to forgive ourselves and to be flexible enough to change things up if we feel something isn’t working. I’m curious what your organizing style is. Mine is ladybug so the open shelving in living room would not work for me. A butterfly wouldn’t mind it. As I continue to declutter and organize certain spaces, I try to go w my organizing style otherwise whatever is left still bothers me!

We do live a relatively minimalist lifestyle, and yet my husband and I like to watch your videos together - because every time we get off the couch and “optimize” yet another spot in our house. Or we just get off the couch 😂😂😂 Without clutter, our living space can be “reset” in mere minutes, and the house almost cleans itself 🤔

Happy New Year! There is a bag at the bottom/top of the stairs, along with small notebook and pen to leave notes for future me to remember to do/take. I am working bin by bin, drawer by drawer...what I had to have last month so many times is out the door next month - once I can see things clearly...the clutter blindness is so true - once a level of it is gone, I "see" things. :) Here's to Virtual Coffee with You!! Thank you for another year of helping us all organize & declutter! ☕☕💞

Erica.. I moved 95% of the games I know we will always keep into clear bags and then stack them in a basket. I combined extension sets with main games instead of having eg 3 huge game boxes.. I just have one (by removing the unnecessary divider in the original box). I only keep the games in boxes that I know we will donate later when the kids grow out of it. It reduced the storage space needed by about 70%.

Erica, I watched your video right after I woke this morning. I know it helps the algorithm to comment right away after publication but couldn't quite formulate the words. Now, this evening, I want to tell you how much your words mean to me. You have a gentle way of prying open my thought processes. It seems we are on a similar place in decluttering. Kinda the middle. House looks good, easier to manage, but plenty of life happening meanwhile that creates a mess. I so appreciate your gentle ways, your encouragement, your tips. I do appreciate you. 🌻🍄

The shoes got me. I used to only wear sketchers. They fit well and i could run around all day at work and no foot pain. Then somewhere after the 3rd yr they did something over at sketchers ...i suspect they put those stupid memory foam soles in them...and they were not rhe same. They wore out much quicker . But i really liked the rainbow of colors so i held on to them. I had a crap ton of shoes i never wore. I still had my white K swiss shoes from nursing school over a decade ago! I just pulled them all out. Put 10 on fb market place and sold them in 2 hours. I had 11 more...so i offered them to that same buyer and they wanted them. Cha ching. I was going to donate them anyway. I had finally resolved i needed to let them go. And we went out to dinner with the momey. Win win.

Just keeping a daily tidying done and getting daily stuff done is a full time job. Each item had an emotion is so true. Can't use a printer because they no longer make ink for it is so ick. Starting to buy cheaper products because of this.

I just have to laugh at your intro now... Because back when i started watching your channel when it was new, there was nothing intentional or simple in your living style.
The only thing I'm sad about is that since you guys move every five minutes (lol) you can't do a side by side shot of each room now.
I can't even imagine what all of your hard work has done to your family budget!!!
