One thing for future reference for anyone attempting to do a shower with small format subway tile is that when you get to tile the top of the shower curb it is much better to install a large piece of either tile or granite/quartz.
They sell very large pieces of subway tile that will pretty much cover the entire width of the shower curb so you will have less cuts and a much more consistent slope.
Tile spacers are the key to success. And it's great to involve your daughter in this project. Keep doing that. I learned a TON of useful things while working with my parents.
SOOOOOO True Martha. If you want a tile project to look good you have to use spacers. And I LOVE having Isla a part of my projects even in small ways :)
What a nice chance!! I am currently doing a shower bathroom triple the size of this one but whit exactly the same hexagon shower tile and subway shower walls tile, the floor tile is a hexagon tile as well but white and 8" x 8". Congratulations, you did a goog job.
The shower looks great and the only thing that I want to point out is schluter requires unmodified thinset on top of their waterproofing material or schluter allset. The pro lite is polymer modified thinset which could affect the schluter warranty.
Great work Brent! I always enjoy your videos.
When I finally got my tile saw it was a game changer. Merry Christmas
Total game changer for sure. Merry Christmas to you as well :)
Thank you for sharing knowledge on this ,greatly appreciated 🙏
I've never heard anyone say "caulk" that way. XD Gorgeous reno!
Thanks a lot . You are super . Yes , home is better and world is better.
We are in process of buying a house needed refurb. There is shortage of builders . We may need to do some task ourselves .
Hope we can pick up some of your great skills ! Many many thanks
Perfectionism!!
If you never tiled before, youl never understand the amount of work this really is. Lol amazing job dude! I love remodeling bathrooms!
Not sure if the rest of you caught it, but BYOT fixed the two small pieces of tile above the recess that were backwards. Amazing attention to detail. @20:15
Haha Really didn't think anyone would notice that but YOU are on top of it. Thanks so much for mentioning it and appreciating the details we put into this shower.
You’ve really got a great DIY channel Brent. Your narration is perfect, not too wordy, a true exercise in parsimony. Your camera work is excellent. You don’t have distracting background music which is a huge plus. Please don’t change those things. I would like to buy you a cup of coffee but it seems the only pay option is PayPal which I don’t use. All my best, a new subscriber. 👍🇺🇸
Beautiful job man
Pretty dang good for DIY. Ideally you set the curb first before wall tile, same with the niche… think like water
Your work is amazing!
Thanks for all your support :)
Excellent job on the shower and Merry Christmas!!
Thanks so much Bryan and Merry Christmas to you as well.
Awesome
This content is excellent! Also, cute kid.
so I right, last video was part 1 of 2 and now 2 of 3. you keep doing this
that curb is massive
Smart to clear a bit of thinset out with your finger to avoid squeezeout. I'm still scraping bits off over a year later.
Where did you purchase the plumbing items for under the sink and the sink drain attachment with the plug?
Did you apply a sealer afterward ?
10 seconds since upload and I'm already watching!! Never been this early! Great video!
LOVE IT BC. Thanks for being on top of it and let me know what you think after you watch the whole video :)
@@BYOTools looks amazing so far. Great information. Can't wait for the final video in the series to see the complete transformation!!
How do you know what size trowel to use like you used 3/16s how did you know to use that one
What size is this shower? I’m remodeling a small old house. I’m adding a bathroom and trying to figure out how small of a shower might still work.
Link for the larger floor tile. I looked in the description and couldn’t locate it.
Just curious as to the cost of materials to do this
Decoupling (ditra) membrane??
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
👌👌👌👏👏👏
all set on schulter bruh. great vid but im from the school of sal .
I hate and love the toddler stage.
The way the tile wraps around that wall does make it feel slightly dated out the gate. Not sure what else you could have done though other than tile the entire wall.
:)
Pretty good for a DIY but there is some noticeable mistakes..would recommend getting marble sills for the curb and bottom of the niche.also maybe measure out you niche before hand better so you don’t have small pieces around it and I see how you have a filler process at the top
Why ?
Yes sills would look better. One could also consider using the engineered stone sills in order to better color consistency.
Brent love your videos, but man it drives me crazy how you leave out the “a” when you pronounce caulk. You say it like “culk” missing the “aw” sound.
Im assuming your title should be, how to title. Not "hot" to tile!
HAhA! Thanks so much MM for looking out. Totally missed that one hope you enjoyed the video.
@@BYOTools No problem, been there!
