Gosh this brings back so many memories, I remember watching your booktalks every single time after finishing one of SJM's books( and yes I was also always screaming during it like you)
When you talked about the waiting for the books in between the release dates, I feel that. I remember where I was when A Court of Wings and Ruin came out, when Kingdom of Ash came out, when all the Throne of Glass and ACOTAR books came out. It’s a different feeling waiting for the next book to come out when you finish it when it just came out. The struggles lol. The only time I had something like that was with the Simon Snow books and the ongoing Shadowhunter books.
I've been following Sarah's books since I was in middle school, and now I'm in COLLEGE! I've also been following Christine since I was in middle school and I remember I would always get excited to come home and watch your ACOTAR and TOG release/booktalk videos! It's been such an amazing journey with both Sarah's books and Christine, and I can't wait to read and see more videos in the future🥰
It's incredible to see how different everyone's rankings are. It just shows that we all can find something different to connect to in all Sarah's books. :)
The feeling you get when you open a new Sarah J. Maas book is pure happiness. At the end it is pure sadness usually! I feel in love with reading again because of ACOTAR and I will forever be grateful to her for writing these books! ACOMAF is my number one and HOSAB has become my second! I am never disappointed by her books!
This was very difficult 😬 The top 5 could easily be switched around a bit, but I’m gonna go with this ranking ❤️ 15. ACOFAS 14. Crown of Midnight 13. ACOTAR 12. Assassins Blade 11. Throne of Glass 10. ACOWAR 9. Empire of Storms 8. Heir of Fire 7. Kingdom of Ash 6. HOSAB 5. ACOMAF 4. Tower of Dawn 3. Silver Flames 2. HOEAB 1. Queen of Shadows
I read Throne of Glass first but I feel like I'd recommend reading Assassin's Blade first! I feel like that book gives a better taste of what SJM can do
I did not realize how different our lists would be until I made mine lol I also just have a major emotional investment in Rhysand, so that explains probably most of this list. 15. Assassin's Blade 14. Crown of Midnight 13. Throne of Glass 12. ACOTAR 11. ACOFAS 10. House of Earth and Blood 9. Heir of Fire 8. Tower of Dawn 7. House of Sky and Breath 6. ACOSF 5. ACOWAR 4. Kingdom of Ash 3. Queen of Shadows 2. Empire of Storms 1. ACOMAF
"Who wants to read a bunch of short stories before the first book?" Me! lol, cause that's what it was before Throne of Glass came out- every story was released one at a time, about once a month, until TOG came out. The publisher wanted the readers to get background on Celaena/the world, thus- novellas! It was so fun, reading each one, and definitely hyped us for the eventual book release! And then the series grew so much in popularity that they were bound in one book.
I actually read assassins blade first by mistake (I thought it was the first book) and really enjoyed reading that way. I felt so much more connected to Celeana in book 1 knowing her full back story. And you wouldn’t even know Sam or Arobynn if you read tog first!!!
Assassin blade, as individual novellas were actually published before throne of glass. The compilation was published after but the novellas were intended to be read first. (I didn't know this until a year ago lol) I read it after crown and I think it still works. But you definitely read it as intended!
House of Sky and Breath immediately moved to the top of my SJM rankings after I finished it. THAT ENDING??? No spoilers, but PLEASE film a reaction of you reading the last chapter (not the epilogue) because HOLY SHIT WTF SARAH
I always read it as RYE-sand TOO!! The other pronunciation sounds so weird to me. So when I heard people say Rys like "Reese" and not "Rice" I was sooo confused. 😂
I’m currently re-reading all of her books and I am almost done with acotar and finished tog earlier this month and every time I read one of her books I watch your video on it so this video coming out it’s literally perfect timing
I still remember the feeling of waiting for each Throne of Glass book (since Crown of Midnight) and then waiting for your booktalk as soon as I finished the books. Queen of Shadows was INTENSE. Also my fave! You're the besttttttt
I remember you talking about Crown of Midnight when it came out and that was my introduction to the Sarah J Maas world… I actually met you at the heir of fire signing in LA like 8/9 years ago? Wow how time flies!!
quickly wrote my ranking before watching this video and was shocked how similar our ranking was, especially the God tier! mine goes, 15-ACOFAS, 14-assasins blade, 13-ACOTAR, 12-Crown of midnight, 11-Throne of glass, 10-HOSAB, 09-Tower of Dawn, 08-ACOWAR, 07-Heir of fire, 06-Empire of storms, 05-Kingdom of ash, 04-ACOMAF, 03-HOEAB, 02-ACOSF, 01-Queen of shadows.
the way you explained the amazing time between releases!! yes!!! the theory talks!!! sorry, had to come back and finish vid bc it was nice and had to be in the sun
I think my favorite of Sarah's books is yet to come but I always consider all the books together as stories as a whole so they are one giant book to me. But WHAT IS TO COME!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!!
What incredible timing for this video, as I am having the best time binge reading sarah’s books right now!! I even got both of my roommates into her books, so now we’re all reading them together which has been so fun (and we’ve been watching your book talks afterwards, of course). I’ve only finished four of her books, so I’ll rank what I’ve read cause this sounds like fun: 4. A Court of Thorns and Roses - I really got into this in the last 150 pages or so, but it didn’t capture me in as instantly as her other books 3. House of Sky and Breath - I won’t say anything cause I know you’re still reading, but I cannot wait until you finish this!! That book talk is going to be everything! 2. House of Earth and Blood - this was my first Sarah J Maas book and I was instantly obsessed 1. A Court of Mist and Fury - Funnily enough, I finished this last night and stayed up till 2am cause I couldn’t put it down. I finished this in a week and literally had 3 final exams the week I was reading, so that probably tells you how into this I was. I immediately went to the bookstore this morning and bought A Court of Wings and Ruin!!
when i opened my copy of Throne of Glass to reread and it only had “crown of midnight” as other books by Sarah J Maas,,,, that’s when i realized how old I was
Omg TASTE, Queen of Shadows is my favourite SJM book as well, maybe tied with Tower of Dawn (yes it is essential reading!), A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin. I haven’t started the Crescent City books, I’ve heard such mixed things but I know I have to try it!
I was skeptical about the CC series simply because I’m not typically crazy abt urban fantasy and prefer high fantasy, but omfg you HAVE to read them. Two of the best books Sarah has EVER written. I was blown away.
Christine and your video of the best day ever (Kingdom of Ash day) is my comfort video and I think I must have watched it 4-5 times just because it brings me so much joy. Also, love your enthusiasm regarding these books :)
14. A court of frost and starlight 13. A court of thorns and roses 12. Crown of midnight 11. Kingdom of Ash 10. Throne of glass 9. Empire of storm 8. Heir of fife 7. A court of wings and ruin 6. Assassins blade 5. A court of mist and fury 4. Queen of shadows 3. Tower of dawn 2. A court of silver flames 1. House of blood and earth
I feel like when everyone talks about Hunt being the first love interest, everyone forgets about Connor, which, I know, we all know, but it's kinda sad no one remembers him when talking about Bryce's love interests in Hoeab
I’ve been watching you for sooo long and you got me hooked on throne of glass back before heir of fire came out. It’s been so funny watching booktok just discover SJM like WE KNOW SHES AMAZING
Everyone always hates a court of frost and starlight but i lovednit so much it actually made me cry! I was excepting to hate it bc of every review ive ever seen but finally picked it up last yr right before silver flames & it was everything i was missing on that moment. I was always very close w my extended family, seeing them every single Saturday and holiday growing up, but in 2020 with the passing of my Papa & selling his house, no one took up the gauntlet. So i was really missing those family feels and that was exactly what that novella was, just warm family togetherness & i just loved it!
It's funny, because I can remember being excited for the release of Throne of Glass, I remember being in band room, on my computer. I've enjoyed all of her books that I've read, and I've read all but Catwoman: Soulstealer, but I'm not going to read those DC books. So been a fan for a while. But the one I remember wanting the most was ACWAR, after the ending of ACMAF, I needed to know how it was going to end. That wait was evil! My personal ranking is basically publication order, with a few exceptions.
I knew Queen of Shadows was going to be your number one. It’s mine too!! Seriously so good, the masterful execution and high stakes to save Aedion, Dorian’s enslavement to the Valg, Chaol’s wretchedness, Rowan coming back, Elide joining the party, *Lorchan* joining the party, Manon and Aelin fight scene- I mean come oooooon, this book was like watching a movie. It is absolute Perfection!!🤩
I’ve been eyeballing my Heir of Fire book because that’s where I stopped. I think this is my sign to keep going. Also to rebuy Assassin’s Blade, Throne of Glass, and Crown of Midnight since someone borrowed them like 5+ years ago, and I’m probably never getting them back. 🙃
I just started HOSAB so that's not included, but I'm fascinated by the differences in our lists! 5 stars: 1. Kingdom of Ash 2. Heir of Fire 3: A Court of Mist and Fury 4. Empire of Storms 5. Queen of Shadows 4 stars: 6. A Court of Thorns & Roses 7. Assassin's Blade 8. Throne of Glass 9. A Court of Silver Flames 10. House of Earth & Blood 11. Crown of Midnight 3.5 stars: 12. A Court of Wings & Ruin 13. A Court of Frost & Starlight 14. Tower of Dawn
This brings back SO many memories!!!! In 2014, I wanted to know more about Throne of Glass and that is when I discovered you and booktube! And I watched your book talk on it :)
Omg! I just finished Tower of Dawn like a month or so ago, and it really changed my perspective on Chaol! Like I realized he's not so bad! Plus, it fills up a lot of plot holes!
I also started reading when heir of fire was being released, and since then you've been my book buddy with sjm's books 😂 I would read them and think "omg xtine is gonna love this" "omg what will xtine say about this shit that just happened??" and stuff like that, this video is really nostalgic for me 🙏🏻💜
Great video, gives me motivation to continue on and finish throne a glass series! Heir of Fire just hit differently, top tier Sarah J Maas for sure! My favorite release day experience was when you released your first book Again, But Better. Being able to attend one of your meet and greets was such an amazing experience, it had such great energy and you were so hilarious! My signed copy of ABB is a treasured possession I will keep forever. 💖
It's been a bit since I've read the ToG series, but I have recently been rereading the ACOTAR series in preparation for the TV series!! I've been reading her books since middle school myself--they're my guilty pleasure books. Love the rating list, and I agree to a lot of them!! How do you feel about the new ACOTAR covers?? I think they're really pretty!!
Ok but by like the middle of Tower of Dawn should i have started enjoying the book then? 😂😂 because i hated it at like page 400 and gave up and read the spoilers online. I love all the SJM books but just not tower of dawn at all
For me, all the ACOTAR books would probably be higher and ACOMAF would be my favorite. HOSAB would probably be up there too. TOG would just be scattered 😂
Court of silver flames was weird cos it was christmassy but came out in May??? No. Wrong time of year but I DO read it in November to get me hyped for Christmas.
Omg I know exactly what you mean about waiting for a book to come out! My brother was (Still is) the Harry Potter nerd in our family and he always got the new book for Christmas or birthday, and when they started doing the big hype release days my dad would always go get the book for him ❤ And like for me I never grew up as that much of a reader (unless you count fanfic?) But like SJM release dates.. omg... I'm a Responsible Adult but when I tell you I twisted my ankle running downstairs when the new book got delivered (ACOMAF specifically) and i limped to the door in a crazed manner... 🤣🤣🤣
I think imma give a court of series over again. I didn’t care for the main character but I did fuck w rys heavy. Heir of fire is my top book of hers I’ve read tho. Throne of glass series top 2 book series
Christine I pronounce Rhysand the same way as you!!!!! Rye-sand! Ree-sand sounds gross to me and like a totally different character cause my brain is stuck!
My ranking from worst to best (I think I don't know this is hard): A court of frost and starlight A court of thorns and roses Crown of midnight tower of dawn The assassin's blade House of flame and shadow Heir of fire a court of silver flames a court of wings and ruin House of sky and breath throne of glass House of earth and blood Kingdom of ash Empire of storms A court of mist and fury Queen of shadows
I also read them when I had to wait for them to come out! I remember every time there would be a new release it was like a huge ordeal and I would skip school and everything just to sit and read all day lol
I don't normally sound out names as I read them so the way I pronounce most names has also been influenced by you, Christine 😭😂 Rye-sand and para-bah-tee all the way

What about the catwoman book
Idk how you managed to rank SJM's books you honestly deserve an award for doing that
I actually preferred reading Assasin's Blade as the first book! I think it makes a lot of sense
I'm a read things in order kind of girl. ^_^
I read Throne of Glass first but I feel like I'd recommend reading Assassin's Blade first! I feel like that book gives a better taste of what SJM can do
Same thought! Helped me empathize with Celaena better 🔥
eye makeup on point in this video!!

Yess i remember stumbling across the novelas on my e-reader and they made me so hype for the actual book!
I loved those novellas! They made me love celaena and the series as a whole far more than ToG did

You have so much energy that I can do intense cardio while watching you. Thanks for being my work out buddy today! 😁
Let me tell you CC2 is gonna throw your ranking OFFFFF and I can't wait for your reaction 👀
I’ve not seen your videos in years but do remember watching your throne of glass videos back in the day.
Shout out to everyone who says "rice-and" and not "reece-and"
I still remember the feeling of waiting for each Throne of Glass book (since Crown of Midnight) and then waiting for your booktalk as soon as I finished the books. Queen of Shadows was INTENSE. Also my fave! You're the besttttttt
i would be completely incapable of ranking these books
I ALWAYS LOVE THE ENERGY! Your vlogs are always exploding with love and passion. 😍 A fan since 2017 🌠

I remember you talking about Crown of Midnight when it came out and that was my introduction to the Sarah J Maas world… I actually met you at the heir of fire signing in LA like 8/9 years ago? Wow how time flies!!

12. A Court of Wings & Ruin
13. A Court of Frost & Starlight
14. Tower of Dawn
I still haven’t even finished the throne of glass series 🙃
Ahhhhh!!! This is everything I ever wanted!
I never hated Chaol. I’m currently doing the tandem read of ToD and EoS. I’m loving them so far and I’m so happy I get a whole book of Chaol content 😅
When I first read the ending of Kingdom of Ash I pictured it like an anime movie and now it gets me every time 🌺🔥
I still have PTSD from the Queen of shadows plot twist
😂
I just NEED to see your reaction on HOSAB finale. ASAP. I finished it and have so many theories now. I need to hear yours!!!!!
Just the video I fucking wanted!!!! 😫💖💖 I’ve been having SJM withdrawals after CC2
I also started reading when heir of fire was being released, and since then you've been my book buddy with sjm's books 😂 I would read them and think "omg xtine is gonna love this" "omg what will xtine say about this shit that just happened??" and stuff like that, this video is really nostalgic for me 🙏🏻💜
I am so excited for your book talk for House of Sky & Breath when you finish it!
The hug scene is my favorite part of Queen of Shadows and is actually why it’s my fave :)
Could you make a video explaining the chronological orders of her books? especially the Throne of Glass series.
I will die on the hill that it is RICE/RISE-and. I am sorry I cannot ever see or hear it pronounced at REESE-and.
Court of silver flames was weird cos it was christmassy but came out in May??? No. Wrong time of year but I DO read it in November to get me hyped for Christmas.
Omg I know exactly what you mean about waiting for a book to come out! My brother was (Still is) the Harry Potter nerd in our family and he always got the new book for Christmas or birthday, and when they started doing the big hype release days my dad would always go get the book for him ❤
And like for me I never grew up as that much of a reader (unless you count fanfic?) But like SJM release dates.. omg... I'm a Responsible Adult but when I tell you I twisted my ankle running downstairs when the new book got delivered (ACOMAF specifically) and i limped to the door in a crazed manner... 🤣🤣🤣
OMG YES YOU SAY RICE-AND ME TOO and my brain can’t unlearn it. No way no how.
Omg please do one of these vids but for all of the Cassie Clare books lmaoo. I loved your videos when you were reading the infernal devices trilogy!!
I have one for Cassie’s books! 💜
My ranking from worst to best (I think I don't know this is hard):
A court of frost and starlight
A court of thorns and roses
Crown of midnight
tower of dawn
The assassin's blade
House of flame and shadow
Heir of fire
a court of silver flames
a court of wings and ruin
House of sky and breath
throne of glass
House of earth and blood
Kingdom of ash
Empire of storms
A court of mist and fury
Queen of shadows
I also read them when I had to wait for them to come out! I remember every time there would be a new release it was like a huge ordeal and I would skip school and everything just to sit and read all day lol
Love to see ToD getting some appreciation 😍... Might have to start on CC soon 👀👀
I don't normally sound out names as I read them so the way I pronounce most names has also been influenced by you, Christine 😭😂 Rye-sand and para-bah-tee all the way
Can someone please tell me if that is the UK or US version she is holding of House of sky and breath
It’s the US version LOL
@@polandbananasBOOKS thank you!!
Hi this is amazing! I was wondering if you will do it review for House of Sky and Breath? I can't wait for your reaction
yes! I’ll definitely be making one! I’m around page 200 right now XD reading like 10 pages a night before bed, I’ll speed up as I get further in
Omg ACOMAF #4 under crescent city 😮
