Yeah, that day-glow crap was for the birds. I really enjoyed the show until "the mods" popped in. The last scene was straight out of one of the ABC After School Specials that used 2 air when I was a kid. 😕
Glad you were able to squeeze in the Kom'rk class drop ship. One of my favorite designs. I always hoped that it would be the next ship for Din Djarin and was so glad to see it show up on The Mandolorian.
I love the idea of combat transports in Star Wars. The Gunship is cool and as soon as we were introduced to the U-Wing and TIE Reaper I loved their designs. The U-Wing is just an awesome design, and I'm happy they kind of made it the general Rebel combat transport after Rogue One came out. It's too bad the same can't be said for the TIE Reaper. The only time we see it outside of Rogue One is in Star Wars Squadrons and Jedi Fallen Order.
I would recommend the Chi Class Heavy Dropship. It may not be canon, but it is an awesome ship. 250m, can carry 2 Juggernauts or 4 LAAT imperial walkers. And whole battalion of troopers. I play SW RPG, and tabletop. I have a high level Mercenary that managed to acquire one and heavily modified it. Added additional turrets on the top, enlarged the cargo space wider to fit more and land even on heavy terrain. It acted as a mobile base. I didn't have a large standing forces. But I got tons of repurposed vehicles. 1 Juggernaut 1 LAAT Walker 3 ATTE Walkers 6 Combat Skyhoppers Bunch of smaller transports I specialize in siege missions and taking down strongholds of illegal raiders, pirates etc Our combat doctrine is we fight safely within the confines of our war machines until we have demolished the enemy. Good list! Thanks for including the Mandalorian ship. It took me a while to realize how LARGE that ship is, they didn't always show it next to other ships for a relative comparison of their size. I always liked the LAAT and variants, I was very disappointed in in some scenes where they weren't used to their full potential. They often didn't fire their side-mounted lasers at all, yet when they fired they could sweep entire enemy formations in one pass! They also had the very effective rocket launchers up top, with rotating magazines for multiple rounds.
Will you please just do a video talking about cad banes starfighter transport. It’s in atmosphere speed is exponentially faster than anything else in the entire galaxy. It would look like a freaking hyperspace jump when he went full throttle.
I'm surprised you didn't include the obscure Kappa-class shuttle on this list. It's more heavily armed and armored than the LAAT/i, just barely slower than the Nu class shuttle, and can carry a variety of things for battle. A whole platoon of troops, speeders, AT-RT walkers, swamp speeders, it's got options. And it's hyperdrive equipped and a much smaller target than the LAAT. The perfect deployment shuttle, honestly
Ypu could use the Kom'rik class w/o packs, just have to come in much closer and slower to the LZ.... Come in nap of the earth, drop like 60 troopers , than the three come screeching over a hill , as they draw attention AWAY from LZ, here come troopers from behind.... Or could probablt hold like 4 speeder bikes...
Gotta say i loved the rho shuttle from the beginning and its modular mission boxes. Has a hyperdrive and is pretty well armed. Definitely at least top 10.
yeah, I kinda like ships that have "internal" "individual" drop pods. Where troops can either be dropped from high or low alittiude. they can enter a "silo" turn to face the direction they want to cover on landing... then are "dumped" some straight down, some at a slight angle forwards to spread them out more so they are not in straight lines. Rather then dedicated flight packs, troops can be equipped with repulser bounce packs, that slow them down before they hit the ground allowing for troopers to be dumped at "speed" at low altitude, spread out and "bounce" hitting the ground dropping the pack and fighting.
No use of the Gamma class assault shuttle? Or the ATR-6 Stormtrooper Assault Ship? I suppose both are Legends, mind, and the ATR-6 is almost entirely from the X-Wing series of simulator games from the 90's. The assault shuttle could ferry a full platoon of spacetroopers into battle and had enough shielding output to classify as a small capital ship. The ATR-6 had three turbolasers and ion cannon turrets as well as missile launchers and could carry up to 40 troops. Both were pretty terrifying things to see in combat as you couldn't shoot them down, you cuoldn't stop them, and they could smash through almost anythin to land boarding parties with the sheer amount of firepower they had. But both are EU and this seems all canon. So can see why they weren't brought up.
The eleventh ship (the Mando-ship) is the best troup transport, because using jetpack troops is supperior to normal ships, as that grands the ability to have less vulnerable and faster attacking infantry. And considering it has basically zero control surfaces to help steer it in unpowered flight the only upside of its design would be that it probably isn't going into a deathspiral, liquefying everyone inside from the ensueing g-forces and instead plow down like an oversized lawn dart. If the Reaper can glide safely anywhere, it's only because a writer with little knowledge about aerodynamics aside from "wings = good" decided to make it canon because "I said so".

One reason I like the more military engagements of Star Wars, and wish they did more with the full military combat. It always gives me ideas for Battletech which also uses drop ships to get from space to putting boots on the ground. Granted, there are no hyper jump capabilities on drop ships and have to rely on transport on Warships or jumpships. God I wish I could get back into Battletech/MechWarrior table top versions. I was hoping for the AO-2 Cometstrike-class orbital assault pod to round out transport types. It's a drop pod like from warhammer or halo, something I think that would work well for special forces combat controllers to try to by pass anti-air fire to deploy specialist forces to take them out for larger landing craft. I also actually think the VCX-100 auxillary starfighter/shuttle like the phantom would be better than the RK-392 or U-wing since it can be equipped with a hyperdrive and only cost 23k credits. Its also is much much smaller.
😑 . . . Meh. At least none of them can beat my custom fanmade Ugly specifically designed for boarding enemy ships/space stations through their hangers.
A lot of these aren't very directly comparable to eachother from being designed for very different niches with pretty wildly different carrying capacities. 6, 10, 24, 48. Man the droid gunship and hyena bomber alone wound be nightmare fuel for a ground soldier but imagine the poor sods fighting on water worlds when they see a goddamn droid kraken in their vacinity. I'd fight the empire any day over the cis.

By that metric, the CIS Core Ships also fit. But honestly, if a vehicle requires more than a minute to deploy its forces, it shouldn't really count.
Outside of Star Wars you have the Quad Tiltrotor from Edge of Tomorrow. When it's time to go, the floor disappears and you literally fall into battle.

Does anybody know what the Soundtrack at 6:01 is? Heard it a few times on this Channel but never found out.
The Droid Gunship makes this list of COMBAT TRANSPORTS but the U-wing doesn't? I'm not watching any more of this.
U wing only carried 8 or 10 but droid gunship more ...... I think
5:40 only just now realizing this is referencing the CIA supplying the mujahideen stringer missiles to counter the HIND-D in the 80s
The corporate security ship look alot like the old republic hover ship(forgor their name because im a fake fan)
For the empire I guess!
*The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness.*
Man the droid gunship and hyena bomber alone wound be nightmare fuel for a ground soldier but imagine the poor sods fighting on water worlds when they see a goddamn droid kraken in their vacinity. I'd fight the empire any day over the cis.
I finally remembered his name...
Edge of yesterday away ☕🍜🥛🍺👍
I prefer Earth's choppers & airlift vehicles. :P
If you managed to muster enough Political Capital with Palpatine to design 1 ship in an attempt to help fix some issues with the Imperial Navy, what would it be, what are its stats and what would be your desired scale of deployment?
a good f/a18 style multirole fighter with heavy shields and a low "stall speed" but still space capable, a la arc180
YIPPEE ❤🎉
