You did a good job for what you have to work with. And as for your brake lights staying on its the brake switch under the dash on the brake pedal. Change that and it will fix it shouldnt be that expansive. Like maybe 10 to 20 bucks. Easy fix bro. Stay up bro ride low 👍🙏

I had rust on mine. you gotta either use derust solutions to eat at it or if its mainly surface then just sand it back. Then spray it with some anti rust spray primer if you wanna be totally sure before painting the colour you want. Also please use high quality stuff paint cause if you cheap out the stuff splits over time. First hand experience haha

don't EVER use screws on card for body panels......EVER....you did it the right way with rivets...

It might actually be your brake switch that is going out. Had that same problem on a previous vehicle and changing out the brake switch solved it.
