Thank You Come Again 😂
U R so right.
Dr. Sugrue, for about 10 years I have been teaching myself literature and philosophy through primary texts and online lectures / podcasts, and your series is by far the best I've come across. Thanks so much.
Tsk tsk Herr Heidegger; could’ve spent 10yrs reading Aristotle :P
@@martianuslucianus4485 lol
Same but I'm still a qualified noob. Regardless, I'm thankful.
"he's batting clean up, for the entire middle ages"....
Nobody can do it like Professor Sugrue.
Getting my masters in legal history at the moment and I was just yesterday wishing for another video from Dr. Sugrue on Aquinas! You have a world of students touched by your knowledge. Thanks for everything, professor.

I always appreciate it when people do this 😊.
Good work
Hi Dr. Sugrue. I hope you - and Queenie - made it through Ian without too much disruption to your lives. Thank you for these lectures!
One of the greatest teachers to ever live
I grew up watching your lectures, Professor. Your teachings have greatly enriched my life, and have made me a better man. Some of the only videos on the internet I am excited to see. Thank you.
Dear professor, thank you for your lectures, warm greetings from Armenia.
Thank you again professor. You never fail to capture people’s interest ❤️
Mr. Surgue, I don’t have words enough to describe how much your work has been a blessing. Thank you.
I’ve listened and followed you since 2006. I’m deeply indebted to your massive knowledge and magisterial education. God bless you and thank you so much, Professor.
EVERY time I re-watch these videos, I'm enlightened more than the previous times! Sugrue is a remarkable communicator that neither dumbs down nor becomes haughty. A truly phenomenal mind.
I was really waiting on this! Professor Sugrue, you are a wonderful gift to the world! Thank you again!
Your mind is a tremendous treasure. Thank you for your videos and lectures. ❤
You are a gift to humanity. Thank you, Professor.
Really gained a deeper and more subtle body of humanity from this lecture, my compliments, Mr Sugrue.
Many thanks and love from Germany. Your lecture on Marcus Aurelius changed my life. I love Aquinas and can't wait to watch this! You're a great man, may God bless you and your loved ones.
Brilliant and delightful. I thoroughly enjoy your lectures. You are so positive.
As far as I'm concerned, you have attained Thomas Sowell status in that you must be protected and are not allowed to die. Thank you for all of your amazing work.
Loving these new lectures!! Thank you so much
Thanks
Most valuable channel ever!
I've watched all his videos. This man is the most pleasant person to listen to and the way he tells a story about our ancient masters is just magical. I would love for him to do a complete overview of all philosophers or even write his own history of philosophy. I would even donate to help to start a project like that.
people like you gifting knowledge like this make the world immeasurably better. thanks for these Ukrainian benefit lectures, Dr. Sugrue.
Ayyy, big fan! :D I often end up waking up to you talking about space lol
I like the way you present complex ideas. There’s more than a bit of genius here for synthesis and teaching.
Aquinas is my patron saint, so this is excellent!
How does he speak with such depth and articulation, while a puppy is whining in the background? That's mastery of the material!
God bless you, Doctor Sugrue.
Yes! More lectures!
Thank you Dr. Sugrue! I recommend to anyone interested in Saint Thomas Aquinas to find an SSPX chapel near you. The priests of the Society of St. Pius X are given the greatest formation you can find nowadays that is almost entirely rooted in Thomistic thought. If you are interested in experiencing the Mass that Saint Thomas celebrated every day of his priesthood, the Society offers the traditional Latin Mass which is identical to the Mass said by every priest since the time of St. Gregory the Great. God bless!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I enjoy learning with you.
Thank you so much for coming back and giving us access to your mind! Im so very grateful for the gift, sir
Thank you! I love your lectures, those from 30 years ago as much as those of today.
I was just about to write an essay about Aquinas. Thanks for teaching, Professor.
Thank you professor Sugrue. Your videos help me very much I'm a teacher here in the Philippines.
If I search a subject and dr sugrue is in the results I always go to him first. Truly a special man
Dr. Sugrue offers the key to open our minds to the plethora of ideas written by brilliant thinkers over thousands of years. In a sense it is the evolution of morality and hopefully sheds light on understanding our own life experiences.
In all these lectures, from the 90's to today, I have finally figured out one of the reasons that makes Sugrue so brilliant. He distills, brilliantly, the real meaning of what we have read or are reading.
It’s a cultural desert out there, and Sugrue is where I visit to quench my thirst for decency, ethics, culture and humanity.
Dear Dr Sugrue, thank you so very much for your wonderful lectures. I’m a loyal follower and will remain such, but methinks you should let the dog in. Its sorrowful crying would break any heart, no matter how analytical or philosophic. Many thanks Dr Sugrue for everything!
Deep gratitude for your commitment to teaching about the Western intellectual tradition. Very admirable your helping others. Wish that you could find a spot on the AM radio dial instead of the barking ideologues that now inhabit that media space.
Very good to see you again, dear professor! Thank you for the lecture!
That dog in the background deserves most praise
Love your work. Keep going.
Love you good people, thanks for everything.
Thanks for your insights on Aquinas. The perfect universal hierarchy and his schedules of virtue. His breadth of knowledge is remarkable. Please consider cleaning the lens on your video camera.
we love you professor! thank you. for everything.
Thank you to the family of Dr. Sugrue for helping to record these videos 🙂
Bless you professor. No nonsense. Straight to it. Thank you. ❤
Outstanding!!! Thank you very much for sharing! Salam
Thank you so much! I havve purchased the Suma Theologica but have not yet had time to read it. Your lecture will make it much easier for me to understand as I'm retiring soon and will have time to read it. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your lectures on philosophy, but won't read most of the works. But Aquinas has always intrigued me and I suspect that reading his work will be a great adventure and very enlightening.
Thank you ❤ it is a privilege and an honor to learn from you.
THANK YOU. GRATITUDE & RESPECT
so happy to see these uploaded! I've been listening to you since 2009! cheers!
I'm so happy to have found this channel in 2020, massively entertaining and interesting. thank you.
hearing you say darling was very wholesome. Very nice to see you have a nice life with a wife (or daughter).
Thank You Mr. Sagrue❤
You are Brilliant... Love listening to you
Thanks for your memory, intellect and knowledge that you spread freely. I'm not a philosophy student and I enjoy learning from you while I don't have to. Recently I felt the urge to review your video's on Plato's Republic and I've gone insane. I can't stop comparing the Islamic Republic of Iran with Platonic Republic. I think what Plato was seeking as you said by connecting the moral and political law can go terribly wrong. What an unjust man can do by misusing his idea is horrifying. And your recent video's are relatable to the current situation of my country, Iran. My people are fighting a just war against the brutal philosophical dogs educated by the unjust philosopher king of this regime and the war is going on. The evil philosopher king that has legalized the breaking natural moral law in the country recently. It means allowing his philosophical dogs to kill the Innocent young people mostly women. it's always a relieve listening to your wise speech and this time made me wish for having an actual international criminal court to put these tyrants on trial.
Read the book by Al-Farabi "On the Perfect State", which is a synthesis of Islam and Plato's Republic. It will give you much to think about.
@@dr.michaelsugrue Thanks. I'm going to read this for sure.
It is a brilliant piece of work.
Professor you should also read Averroes commentary on Plato republic
It’s a phenomenal read
Such a breathtaking scope. Thank you again. Your videos are books that we can’t put down.
Thank you for all these free lectures!
Thanks for the lectures, thoroughly enjoy them all! Legend
Brilliant and thought provoking as always, thank you so much! Please continue!
Great to see you are back! Loved all your early talks on the Teaching Co.
Socrates of our time... Live long Professor Sugrue
Great teathrr. Machallah thank you very much
this is absolutely incredible, thank you
Nectar to the ears and mind
I really appreciate all of these videos
Thank you for everything
Best professor ever - and sorry for this minor detail but please remember European discovery of America was by the Vikings.
From Viking descendant Jim
These videos are awesome! Lookinh forward for more stuff!
Lovely talk. Thank you
There he is 👋🙂
The man, the legend.. 😃
The man himself.
14:39 You speak of Aquinas’s beatific vision of ascension to heaven, and your dog howls with agreement! Hallelujah! How perfect! But i think that dog has some separation anxiety 😟
I am hoping someday soon you will connect Aquinas et Al to the current philosophical meltdown of the USA and others in light of the recent popularity of Authoritarianism and the ostensible failures of democratic institutions.
29:00 "The Romans were a predatory, military empire." Agreed! Seems that the USA inherited their DNA. We have enjoyed global hegemony since 1945. Seems we've been "in the war business" since then. Would you agree?
Thank you
Great discussion. Could listen all day. 🙌🏼
Thank you for making the complex, understandable.
Thanks Michael.
Tanks professor, your lectures are incredible!
you make me love a philosophy. One of z best mind of the generation.
Thank you so much for posting
You're a legend. Love the new camera angle👍
Love all of your lectures
He started lecturing at a young age. He's been a good public speaker. 👏
May God bless you 🙏🏽
Loving these new uploads, I wonder if you have a lecture on Derrida?
Ew derrida
@@nanashi7779 him and Foucault are everywhere at the moment! I don't like them either, but it's good to explore thinkers we don't like
@@RNCM_Philosophy I totally agree. I'm doing a lot of that currently at university
Thanks!
Hi professor, I discovered your channel when I came across your Marcus Aurelius video, and I got so interested that I binge watched your other videos as well. I can say that I am learning a lot of new and very interesting things and I am grateful to you for sharing your profound knowledge through these very insightful videos.
PS. The Marcus Aurelius video got me interested in Philosophy and I hope you could make more videos about him, and if possible about Jung, Freud, Kant, and Machiavelli as well.
He does have videos on Kant and Machiavelli for sure since I've watched them myself
His lecture on Kant is great, and he has two lectures on Machiavelli
Thanks again for the lesson professor!
"Guide to the Perplexed " by Rabbi Moses Maimonides (mentioned by Professor Sugrue) is a book filled with wisdom written by a very wise theologian, philosopher and all-around scholar.
What I really need, though, is for someone to write a book titled, "Guide for the Perpetually Perplexed" - the type of book that provides answers to important but overlooked questions such as, "Should a jar of ketchup be refrigerated during very hot weather?"
Pakkend. Ik was van zins maar een paar minuten te kijken maar heb hem uiteindelijk uitgekeken.
Thank you for this lecture.
Awesome Doc!
I can give you advice on how to eliminate the sound of the dog from your video (in an entirely ethical way, of course).
Thank you for enriching my mind
Dr. Sugrue, I know you’ve talked at length about various theological and philosophical concepts within the Church, but have you ever considered covering the works of Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI (primarily his Introduction to Christianity and other works he published prior to and after becoming Pope). It would be very interesting to hear your takes on his thought.
Wonderful as ever
Nice Summa-ry of Aquinas 😃
