Pranam to Late Pandit Nikhil Banerjee! Pranam to one of the greatest tabla players Anindo Chatterjee. The finest tunes that produce from their nimble fingers takes us to a mundane universe.
Now that's the taleem of ustad baba alauddin khan sahab afterall Pt nikhil banerji and Pt Ravi shankar , the forever shining stars of indian music given by baba alauddin khan
Yes he played right up until the day before he passed, I believe. This is probably one of his last performances ever :( I was only one month old when this was shot but I still feel so connected to his music!
According to my Googling (far from authoritative), his final appearance was in Kolkata at the Doverlane Music Conference on 1/26/86. Last appearance in the U.S. was November 1985 at Carnegie Hall.
