    The rear vision can be improved greatly by raising and clicking the tilt forward feature on the two outboard rear headrests. I have a silver ‘18 Corolla CVT model with this feature.

    Corolla IM is the same as Corolla with rear independence suspension and very similar to CT200h in term of suspension setup. Unfortunately we do not have the hybrid version like in EU or JPAN

      They're not really fast. They're actually pretty slow. I have the 2016 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport (hatch back and CVT) and its painfully slow, even with sport mode on, traction control off and in manual. Even my mates manual corolla is shit.

    I've got a 17' im manual i find the car to be extremely fustrating.
    in context i learned how to drive stick 20 years ago on an 01 dodge neon, and eventually did a paper route with that car
    ( if i did that with the IM i would die)
    I can get over the car being slow , its that its throttle is so laggy, my clutch has a mile of travel and it is super heavy so it makes clutch control near impossible. its numb and i either get 100% all clutch or it has to practicly spin/slip on it. even once its going 2 and 3 still shake the car when ppl criticize my driving I let them have a whirl with it and they go WTF how do you drive this!? and i say - this is why you shouldn't rush out and buy a car when your mom hits a deer and you give her your car and then just retires like thanks for the heads up~ I figure I have a lemon it loves to low idle at 600 after a good long drive and gets even harder to drive.

  • @discerningmind
    @discerningmind 6 лет назад +5

    Nice car! And I love the blast down the road at the end of the video. But Awe Jeez- the HPS Intake! I want you young guys to please, please, please, understand that you have created a HOT AIR intake. It's the exact opposite of what you're trying to achieve. The factory intake IS a cold air intake. Just think about it- the front of the car is sealed off so just about all of the ram air has to pass through the radiator, thus greatly heating up the engine compartment, so the HPS Intake (and the like) is drawing in that hot air. If you want a performance boost switch it back to the factory set up, and install a K & N air filter in the factory set up. The K & N filters allow more air into the induction system so the computer will sense this and dial up the injectors. This will give you the boost in performance that you were trying to achieve, albeit lower MPG's. The HPS Intake (and the like) are the biggest automotive rip off of modern times. I hope I don't sound mean, I grew up poor and spent what little money I had on gadgets of the day that never did what they claimed, so I just don't want to see guys with little money getting ripped off.

    • @CodyKinz
      @CodyKinz  6 лет назад

      discerningmind I understand exactly what I'm doing, just trying to get more sound. These cars are pathetically slow because they only make 137HP and weigh 3200lbs. They is next to nothing I can do to actually make these fast so I'm just trying to make it a little more fun to drive

    • @discerningmind
      @discerningmind 6 лет назад

      Cody, a couple of things. I noticed an increase of induction sound when I switched to the K&N Filter even though I was using the stock filter housing.But I'd like to suggest something else that will give you more power. That being 93 Octane Fuel from Shell or Valero. People have argued with me on this but I can assure you that there is a difference.I always use 93 octane, but a few years back I'd read that 87 octane would offer more "pep" (for lack of a better word) when outdoor temps are low, like in the twenties and below. When the next cold snap was hitting us I happened to be running on fumes and filled up with 87 octane. That was on a Saturday. On Monday I noticed my car didn't feel right. On Tuesday it felt sluggish. Wednesday seemed worse and I kept an eye on the gauges expecting a Check Engine light. Now I'm stressed because something was wrong and I was going to have to bring it in for a check. The engine seemed OK, but using more gas so I was thinking it's a transmission issue. Now I'm depressed with that in mind. On Thursday a beam of light, as I remembered that I had filled up with 87 octane. So I ran the tank down to fumes again and filled up with 93 octane. It seemed OK again but it took a couple of days for the engine to get back to being right.My gut feeling here is, were you to change back to the factory intake, switch to a K&N filter, and use 93 Octane, you'd be pleased with the sound and better performance. My history with used cars that have spent their life on 87 octane, is that it takes a number of tankful's of 93 octane before you'll notice improvements.Another thought, Have you considered a Chip or Performance Reprogramming?

    • @discerningmind
      @discerningmind 6 лет назад

      Cody, I have no idea how a link got put into my previous message. Perhaps I've been hit with a virus or just typed the wrong thing. For some reason youtube replies don't always honor when a space or two have been typed in.

    • @CodyKinz
      @CodyKinz  6 лет назад

      Well the reason I got the intake was I had a k&n filter in the stock airbox and I saw no change at all. In Arizona I can't get 93, 91 is the only option and I've put 91 in the car before with no noticeable change other than getting fewer mpg. These cars are pretty much as powerful as they get from factory and as far as I'm aware there Is nothing I can do without going to some form of forced instruction. I'm not going to do that so I'm just trying to make it a little more fun to drive with different bolt ons and suspension parts

    • @CodyKinz
      @CodyKinz  4 года назад +1

      If you buy some of the $60 kits off ebay like mine they required some trimming to the plastic mounting points on the lights to make them fit in their spot on the bumper as well as I ended up buying my own hardware that was sturdier and allowed me to torque on them and make them fit. The bezel can be a little tricky to fully clip as well and will need convincing. The wiring isn't too hard if you have wired things before although I had a rough time getting the harness through the firewall and the button is easy to install as it just pops into any of the blank switches where the mirror controls are

      Cody Kinz Mahalo! I love my CT! I average 45mph, and it's fun to drive. No manual transmission available though. People complain about the cvt drone and say it's rubberbandy , but it doesn't bother me. Contrary to what you may think, it's not that slow due to the torque from the electric motor. It's not the fastest 0-60, but the midrange is quick.

    I like the iM. I liked the iA a lot better. I have to admit this car felt rock solid, like a TANK. I drove it thinking it would last forever. It reminded me of a modern day Volvo 240 more than a small car. The shifter felt strong and light, but the throws were so long. Maybe you get use to that? Curious if a shift kit would help? I liked the black with white dotted seats. Reminded me of the VW Cabriolet style in the mid to late 80's that I always loved. I did not like the shiny piano treatment inside and think that would you did is the way they should be made from the factory. That stuff begs for scratches and prints. The fuel economy seemed a little lackluster. I really don't want a car that cannot get at least 40 mpg. But the pay off is the engine that has been proven for a long time in Corollas. I could buy a red one left over from last year for $15,700 and I am tempted, but one thing turned me off to near deal breaker levels: The rear view vision. Does that bug you at all? I can also get the 17 iA for $13,700 and I thought it was louder, but more fun, easier to see out of, and got an easy 45 mph freeway and 40 mpg on the in town streets. More boxes were check marked for me. But my sensible practical side says get an iM. More room for the kids and true Toyota Quality.

    • @CodyKinz
      @CodyKinz  6 лет назад

      djkenny well I can tell you if you want the iA, its a Mazda. The iM is a great car and I have no visability issues if I adjust the mirrors past the cars blind spot, the back up camera pretty much eliminates any question with backing up. I think the drive train is strong but its does leave a bit to be desired. It would be nice if it got better fuel economy and had a little more power. I can tell you if you want pretty good fuel economy I recommend a 2003-2008 Corolla. My mom has one with a 5 speed with over 220k miles with everything working perfect and all original. Given the choice I would have bought one of those. If you can find one well maintained, they get great mpg, run forever, look great, and less than half the price of the iM.

    • @djkenny1202

      Thanks so much for the reply. A friend of mine has a 2015 Corolla LE she will be returning sometime in Aug on Lease. I am not sure how to go about possibly buying it? I mean, she wants to take it in. It sounds great for Me. Green over grey, it has barely 20k now, so it won't have much more. I am not a big fan of Automatics, but I am sure it will be a reliable one. CVT should be decent on Gas The older Corolla of that generation should be solid, too.. I would not mind a old person owned one with less than 50k I could keep forever. But if they can negotiate a good deal on my friends Corolla for me to buy? I am interested. Just not sure how this would work out logistically.. come in and make an offer?

    • @CodyKinz
      @CodyKinz  6 лет назад

      djkenny I can tell you from experience, if a stick is what you want, then spend the time and wait to get one that is stick, I've made the mistake in the past buying an auto that I didn't really want and it kinda ruined the car for me
