    Hi Sorin, the reason for the shutdown (at minute 11:59 and at minute 12:25) was that there wasn’t enough current from the power supply. When you charged the battery, the limit was set to 1.83 amps (at minute 13:00). After increasing the current to 3.03 amps, the laptop was able to start. It had nothing to do with the battery charge or with the bios. Thanks for everything, and I appreciate what I learn from your videos every day.

      yeah i caught that it didnt have enough amps to start the board til he increased the amps to 3

      Yes, Sorin is amazing. I’ve learned and continue to learn so much from his videos. My comment was just an observation, and I believe it’s correct as well. Thanks also to his teachings that I’m now able to make these kinds of observations. I know very well that he knows what he’s doing :)

    Somehow this reminded me of a TV engineer coming out to repair our family TV set in the 1970's. I was a young teenager and mad about electronics and got talking to the friendly engineer about the fault. It was a missing power rail and we both discussed possible causes and we agreed it was either an open diode or dropper resistor. The resistor was difficult to reach/measure and the diode was easy so we replaced that... "We have picture" (or words to that effect)!
    It was really good fun and I learned a lot that day.
    Why am I telling this story? I wonder whether viewers might be prepared to bring their laptops to Sorin and pay for him to personally coach them through the repair process.

    Always enjoy watching those videos, even the short ones. And have to be honest, completed an apprenticeship as an Electrician 20 years ago, only got the chance to do the minimum soldering/testing required and I can confidently say, even these short 15 minute clips teach more than we learned in like half a year.😉

    I've been doing some board repairs on top of my usual PC repair stuff for two years now and I think I've only seen a shorted second mosfet once during that time. I mostly get shorted caps.

    hi brother, i have a question from one tech to another. im trying to fix my sisters laptop and here is what happen. (ill post a video too) computer fan cant blow out air because it was blocked with dirt and dust, so computer got too hot and the fan ceased up so it had a thermal shut down my sister not knowing anything just turn it back on like nothing is wrong. so now the battery is swollen and the charger IC chip blow up and the board where the chip was has burnt layers and the laptop wont turn on with 19V present. is it possible to bypass the charger IC area to make the laptop power on? i know she cant use the battery just on AC power. if I can get it to work then i need to source out fan. thank you in advance in assisting me in the escalation of this issue. i would send to you but im in canada seems maybe too far

    • @electronicsrepairschool
      @electronicsrepairschool  День назад +1

      An ic/chip contains many transistors which makes a chip/ic nearly imposible to be tested with a multimeter, the only way to be sure is good, is by replacing it.

    • @johnmaloma7623
      @johnmaloma7623 День назад

      @@electronicsrepairschool okay noted but on the video you tested 19v on the transistor, etc ic around that chip meaning if 19v is present around that Pu chip, it looks good?
