- Hooking up a trailer is very simple. I might not give the best description of how to do it, but it's pretty simple!

Love the critics view points. You did a great job explaining HOW. Thank you for your time.
Good vid! Learned how to do this a school this past year.
Hi, lots of good info and safety advice in there, and I agree with the idea of separate attaching points for the pin and the safety chains. The only thing I would request is to slow down on the pan shots. Go once slower rather that back and forth 2-3 times. It makes it easier to get the context of things you are talking about if we get to focus on it a little bit. Just something I have learned taking home movies and videos for over 40 years. I grew up in Pierce county, small dairy and our big tractor then was a 60 John Deere. I enjoy seeing how things have changed since then. I went in the service in 66 and never went back to farming. Keep up the good work.
Would that be pierce country wisconsin?
John Deere Yes Pierce County, WI. I know about Pierce County Washington.
I never knew how to do this, thanks from Oconee county Georgia.
Nick Simmering your a clown
Mr. Wingo you’re*
I can't hook up a fifth wheel trailer for trucks like that cuz in the uk we don't have but it's nice to know, good vid keep up the good work
Never used a goose neck set up, only bumper hitches. Thanks for the insight.
Whats even more amazing is how many people out there that shouldn't be driving U-Haul trucks.
I finally hooked up my first goose neck a few weeks ago
better than our old one. It had no brakes or brake away system.
I recently came across your channel, you know anyone that's selling a pre factory set up like yours, older... Truck
James Michael
Nice to see because in the uk we don't have trailers like that
We do...but very few and far between.
Step #3: Get yourself some spring loaded dollies so when you yank on the pin, they snap up into place. Granted, you've got to step on the pad to get them lowered but I always like the ones that I didn't have to lift by hand.
Gooseneck is the easy one to line up
I had no idea of how to hook this up because I've never had one. Nice to know, now no more curiosity...
Our suretrak has spring assisted feet hehe
Step #2: Fabricobble a piece that a cordless drill can attach to so raising the dollies (or whatever you want to call them) is much, much simpler and faster.
Thats not how they do it here-first you got to drive by it where the hitch takes out the drivers side not the whole side but at least the mirror and the rear side window then back into the trailer without letting the tailgate down-we see this trucks all the time around here and think why did they do that
Not bad, only couple things are if somebody takes this for learning, you forgot to make sure the trailer is above the ball, and not gonna hit the tail gate, and then back under, lining the ball under the coupler. And the other thing is its a gooseneck not a fifth wheel they extremely different probably the only thing that they have in commen is the rest in the bed. The hook up is completely different. Just make sure your giving out the complete and correct advise.
Very interesting, cuz here in the Netherlands we dont have such systems. I wonder; Are you allowed to drive such a combination with just a normal car drivers licence?
Yes you can as long as you aren't over 26001 lbs gvwr then you need a commercial drivers license but as a farmer you can have a farm license which allows you to haul your goods and products within a 500 mile radius of your farm
Edwin H its legal if u don't get caught ;)
@joshguerra true that everything is legal right up until you get caught, you just don't want to get caught with a overloaded overweight trailer without the right license or the fine hurts
***** Im pretty sure the gvw is 10000, my friend got pulled over with a gooseneck and his uncles truck and the gvw on the trailer was like 15000 (he has his b and his permit for his a) it was for a routine dot check and his cdl was suspended for several months because you need your class a to pull a trailer with a 10000lb or over gvw (well at least in pa I don't know about other states)
@nick400 that could be I just know it's over 26,001 gvwr I don't know about gvw
Isnt that a gooseneck? A little grease and oil would take care of that anoint noise! Have a great day!
0:42 its a gooseneck not a 5th wheel
You should use grease
The other day I unhooked the trailer and pulled up without letting the tailgate down and it bent it to hell. Now we have to get a new one :/
RGO Impact it was a ford, wasn't it?
I don't use fifth wheels
how does someone not know how to hook up a trailer? Also, gooseneck not a fifth wheel.
+COLE BIRD What's the name of this channel? Think carefully now.
Onelonelyfarmer!
That's not a fifth wheel lol
Was searching gooseneck reviews and this came up.. If someone can't hook to a trailer I recon they can't back one up as well witch is very entertaining to watch with a bucket of chicken hanging out at the boat dock. Just saying. Anyway back to my research.
Not exactly true. Few years ago I had never pulled a gooseneck trailer, but I volunteered to pull one in the local parade for my church. Being a truck driver (18 wheeler) I’m pretty good at backing trailers. I just didn’t know how to hitch up a gooseneck. Bumper pulls and 5th wheels no problem though.
In before another person says "is a gooseneck not a fifth wheel". Like who even cares? Everyone that knows anything knew what he meant
Just here to add, that it’s a gooseneck not a fifth wheel lol.
I'm 14 and I do that already but nice video
STOP COMPLAINING THAT HE ACCIDENTLY CALLED IT THE WRONG THING.
u forgot a few critical steps for a newbie
The ones I love are those idiot "over the road" truck drivers that don't know how to hook up a trailer.
He said fithweel. ??? I think is goosneck.
Yep
that's not a fith wheel
Good god man... stop moving the camera around so much.
holy crap fix your audio quality
Meh... I just pres Q.
5th wheel lol...
Who doesn't know how to hook up the trailer
+Alex Pottebaum The channel is called "How Farms Work". That implies that people who don't know how farms work (including working with farm equipment) will be watching these videos. The question is, if you already know how to hook up a gooseneck trailer, why are you watching this video?
ArtemiaSalina boom
It's pretty pathetic of you don't know how to hook up a fifth wheel trailer. No offense
Big guy Yeah well you don't even know thats not a fifth wheel so I wouldn't be talking. No offense of course.
It's a gooseneck trailer I'm not that stupid.
It's a fifth wheel hitch.
Big guy I don't see why this matters this much to the both of you, but to clear up everything, the hitch seen here is a gooseneck hitch onto a bed mount, a "fifth wheel" hitch has a big kingpin plate [similar to what you see on semis but smaller] and frame that attaches to the bed mount, you attach in a similar fashion but the trailers kingpin will lock onto the truck's plate instead of using a ball, campers use these mostly
It doesn't matter to me he just said something so I said something back.
