- Happy to share the full performance of this great memory playing with the Detroit Symphony and Juanjo Mena in 2020😊 After this concert, I played Eugène Ysaÿe's 3rd Sonata "Ballade" as an encore!____________________

Amazing!👍👍👍
James' precision and exact interpretation of the score are simply unparalleled. Crystal clean articulation, you can literally hear single every note.
Thank you for respecting the composer's dynamic markings at 24:51. So many don't.
But unfortunately not in the beginning.
James ehnes is my favorite violinist and the most fire 🔥
I scoured the internet for this performance once it got taken down because it is my absolute favourite interpretation of this concerto. I actually found it on the DSO archive but I’m glad to have it on RUclips so I can download it and not lose it again! I absolutely love this recording, it’s perfect!
DUDE, SAME, I WAS SO DESPERATE, I LISTENED TO THIS 24/7, so depressed to know it got taken down, I'm so downloading it this time
You guys have to check out another blockbuster DSO RUclips concert with Augustin Hadelich performing the Paganini Violin Concerto 1 just after he received his Leduc del Gesu. Brilliant performance, just like his pal James performing here!
@@pennaco397 Wanted to make sure you got this notification of my comment above about listening to another DSO performance with Augustin Hadelich performing the Paganini Violin Concerto 1 just after he received his Leduc del Gesu. Just as stunning a performance as James here.
@@toddmurphy523 Hm, interesting. I'll be sure to check it out and provide my feedback
@@pennaco397 So glad you received my notification about Augustin Hadelich and Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Spell binding performance! Yes....I would love to hear your reaction upon viewing this RUclips video!!!!
There’s just something about Mr. Ehnes I love. His articulation is just so good!
One of the best performances of this piece imo.
It amazes me every time how Mr. Ehnes is drawing the full spectrum out of every note, making every single note so so full of color of itself. And because of that, his double stops are so powerful. It feels like the moment when bubbles with a sheen of iridescent colors join together then bursting out wonders, but in a nonstopping way. Mr. Ehnes is the King of straight bow.
Mr Ehnes, great to see that you've done the groundwork to take control of your recordings so we can have them forever instead of watching them get taken down and having to hunt for re-uploads.
0:00-1st movement
12:14-2nd movement
19:25-3rd movement
every recording is a treasure
Local Detroiter here. Would have loved to have seen this live! The acoustics of our Symphony Hall are spectacular. The DSO really appreciates having talent like Mr. Ehnes perform here. One of Mr. Ehnes pals also enjoys performing here in Detroit, Augustin Hadelich. Mr. Hadelich played here just after receiving the Leduc del Gesu and performed a memorable Paganini Concerto 1. Mr. Ehnes plays beautifully here with his Marsick Strad!
IMHO this is a really superb performance of Mendessohn's most famous violin concerto. He left us this romantic era treasure shortly before his death at the young age of 38. Brilliant performance by both soloist and orchestra!
🥰❤
Wonderful treasured memories!
Captivating from start to finish! Would love to see that encore too….pretty please??
Perfect Mendelssohn violin concerto! Especially the first movement, so amazing! V●ᴥ●V
Breathtaking performance. Thanks a lot, Maestro Ehnes. Will listen to your Tchaikovsky Concerto with TSO soon.
Bravo!!!
When James played the second movement, I wished it went on forever. Beautiful.
great performance!!!
WOW! That literally redefined amazing! So, so, SO stunning at every level! Just the level of color is unbelievable. And then musically, and the feeling, and then, and then, and then... WOW just WOW! Bravo!
Beautiful! Perfect James!! 👏👏👏
Finally the Mendelssohn is up! Love the 2nd movement
I love his interpretation! Such a beautiful performance 😍
His Sibelius is one of the best in history.
Streaming it on tv now again.
Great tribute to The great Composer Felix Mendelssohn on the day he died.
Brilliant performance!
Best rendition
Amazing interpretation! Loved every movement
finally!!!love your version!
Gorgeous performance. Thank you for sharing.
Intensissimo !
Beautiful!
You are a very good virtuoso, why don't you post more concert videos 😭?
Please Maestro, play Bach Doppelkonzert with Mr. Hadelich!
bravooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Who is the conductor?
Too many unwanted accents by downbows specially at the beginning….specially on the ONE at the sixth bar which is where the phrase actually needs relaxation.
Still a master!! A real master.
I would suggest, the phrase has a cresc to the high G and then should get a little dim.
Please, refrain yourself to tell me as always: can you play it better?????
I can play it better in my brain…but you have to practice much too much to be able to play his repertoire in perfection as he normally does.
