James Ehnes plays Schubert Fantasie in C Major, D. 934

Schubert's glorious Fantasie in C Major with pianist Inon Barnatan, recorded at La Jolla Music Society's 2020 Summerfest. Playing with Inon is always a treat. We have known each other for many years, and from the first notes we played together I felt a kinship with him and his musical ideals.

I've always been a big fan of James Ehnes. At this point, I feel like I can confidently say that he's the greatest violinist of our time and even of ALL time. His artistry is superb but also his consistent technical precision is just unbelievable. Words do no justice, really. I had the privilege of meeting him once and he was extremely kind and humble. I’m a huge fan of this sublime composition, so have heard many renditions down the years. My favourite was Labeque/ Mullova from 2005. This is just magnificent and by far the most polished of them all. Bravo.
