  • Make wonderful sourdough bread yourself and with the assistance of your bread machine for the mixing and kneading phases.
    This is a really easy method to follow, and I have used it many times now to good effect.
    If you don't have a bread machine - no worries - you can still do the mixing and kneading yourself with your hands. It'll just be a little more effort and a bit more messy.
    I hope you really enjoy this video and that it inspires you to making your own sourdough more frequently that you buy it!
    I've put the ingredients, quantities and method on a scrolling text at the end of the video, but here they are for ease of reference for you as well.
    Enjoy!
    PS - I apologise for the portrait orientation - I shall film this again in due course to replace the key scenes in landscape.

    Spontaneous laughter when you opened the oven and the beast was revealed. Having seen so many videos of little round bread creations, it was a shock. Thank you. Loved the video and the recipe at the end. Shame old Dickey Davis didn’t speak at the end of the match of the day music

    Thank you! I’ve been trying to mix my SD in my bread machine before fermenting , then resting overnight to bake and it always comes out more dense then when mixed by hand. Mixing with about half the flour and fermenting overnight before adding the remaining ingredients sounds like a batter way to do it. I’ll give it a try.

    What is the reason you don't bake the bread in the bread machine ?

    Where is the recipe other than the scrolling one? It’s great, but I’d like to see a printed version for reference, as you mentioned.

    Hi jon,
    Just a little confused in the description you say 720g flour but 420 plus 350 is 770 I would be grateful if you could clear this up as I really want to have a go at this
    the results look good and using the machine as a mixer / prooving box is exellent.

      Ah you’re quite right - my addition is clearly wrong - definitely 420g to start with and 350g as the second amount - so yes - 770g in total. Thanks for pointing that out.

    No salt in your recipe?

    • @jontim66
      @jontim66  Год назад

      Yes - you add salt to the mix with the second amount of flour before the second kneading. See the recipe ingredients at the end. I’ve said 2 1/2 teaspoons. You can get away with 1 - 1 1/2 teaspoons if you want.
