The coolest part about Zoro is that his strength is Luffy's weakness. Luffy is vulnerable to cuts. By being the World's Greatest Swordsman, he is taking away Luffy's vulnerability. His loyalty is very meaningful.

People forget that Zoro is a leader within the strawhats, just not the captain but he has a super strong code of morals a super strong willpower and he's the one who course corrects luffy sometimes when he's distracted or other people in the crew when they're misguided

To me, becoming the greatest swordsman to Zoro isn't just beating Mihawk, but being able to make sure he doesn't lose anyone else close to him ever again.
That certnaly make sense given how his sotry goes.
Greatest swordsman means not only the strongest but also earning respect not just from swordsmen but also from smallest to greatest people.

Zoro is the only one that went through changes, every other character either had their appearance slightly altered or reverted back.
Did like pre timeskip Zoro a lot, but the change is kinda cool. Makes him much more like the first mate, he’d have moments like in water 7~ but training under one of the strongest characters, taking some of his characteristics is neat just to show the level has increased and more thoroughly separated him from Sanji personality and strength wise ~
It’s One Piece, so i don’t expect any seriousness, but when it pops up, like with Brook, Jinbe, Celestial Dragons, Shanks or Zoro it is pretty cool~

During the way to enies lobby franky family saw zoro cut the train in half and were shocked A man caliberr of that isn't the captain, how is that possible?
I can hardly picture zoro as a leader tho, sure he has the will to be a conqueror, but if he becomes a conqueror, he will be like Mihawk. I can picture him being powerful on his own, but without meeting luffy, I doubt that he would even want to be in a crew to start with.

Zoro even sacrificed his ambition for luffy in thriller bark. Plus Zoro is still the only one who referred luffy as 'the pirate king' (post his fight with Mihawk) instead of others who refer luffy as 'the one who will become the pirate king'.

Zoro's loyalty is rewarded by Luffy's trust. just rewatched Sypeia arc and Luffy said to a charred and electrecuted Zoro after coming out of a snake belly "Zoro, how did this happen even though you're here". it may sound rude to others, but that is just how much trust Luffy gives to Zoro and his strength is.
One of the scnes i like alot as well. Oda makes sure to let us know luffy knows zoros strength is enough for him to not worry about. Viola to luffy on pica "what about your friend?" Luffy replying "oh zoro? Dont worry about him, he can take care of himself!" And oda transitioning amazingly from luffys punch breaking a rock path to zoro cutting one the next panel. Its excellent
The Strawhats have an amazing bond but Zoro's dedication to Luffy just hits different. The Water 7 moment really solidified to me that he is the one that holds Luffy to the highest regard.
Love our First Mate. Also love it when he knocked out Sanji in Thriller Bark, because no matter how strong or capable Sanji is, he is still under Zoro's protection. They're brothers at the end of the day.

7:41 "Zoro does not know this of course". I do not remember the exact moment, but at some time Zoro sees Kuma again, Kuma says "you survived" and Zoro replies "because of your mercy". So Zoro knows. Imo Kuma let him take all of Luffy's pain, but more slowly.

Tbh zoro is probably my most favorite character in all over anime/manga, the way he carries himself and the sheer loyalty he has, and how much like luffy he is with protecting the weak and those who are mistreated. He is what other “cool guy” characters from anime/manga try to even reach

You’re definitely wrong on how Zoro handled usopp leaving the crew. He demanded respect for his captain regardless on how they feel personally. He doesn’t care what they do, if they fight for something but they’re not going to leave the crew and then join back like nothing happened. If the crew realized they could run over Luffy like that they would crumble

Zoro is like anchor of the Mugiwara crew. He hold everything down and makes Luffy's job easier. He's the ultimate support mechanic that keeps the crew moving forward. Without him, Luffy would have so many burdens.
That's the job of the quartermaster. A captain's second hand.
I feel the bond that luffy and zoro have in the end isn't just a captain and vice captain, they are like brothers willing to do anything for eachother (I think zoro starting becoming more of a brother after he saw luffy lose ace then went to be trained by mihawk) and they do it without question thats the true value of loyalty, all of our favorite crews seem to also share that value in some fashion where there crew is family just like the whitebeard pirates and roger pirates
I love the strawhats so much, I would even say that all of them are equally loyal as Zoro but every each one of them shows their loyalty diffrently.

Can we stop a minute to appreciate the fact that after Zoros and Kumas moment in Thriller Bark the one that realizes Zoro is missing and rushes to find him is Sanji?
Kuma's Devil fruit is frequently slept on in the series, my man swiped each of the crew halfway around the world with such ease, the precision alone😂

I don't think kuma is slept on all we saw was his devil fruit abilities and as we now know devil fruits are the be all end all in one piece
The 2 year time skip just washed that entire arc out of our heads let's be honest. If Kuma can teleport anything anywhere, that's something that Blackbeard should have prioritized over literally any other fruit, even the ability to take other devil fruits isn't as good as cross-world teleportation.

Zoro carries Mid Piece. The only good character in this overrated series, imagine what Inoue or Togashi could do with a character like Zoro.

This is a great video. I don't know if it's a western bias, something I'm just not attuned to or what, but the subtleness of Zoro's character is something I've really come to appreciate about him. He has an understated wisdom that can be overlooked by his....abundant foolishness in other situations. But that's what makes him a great right-hand man for Luffy. They are seeming opposites who work on similar wavelengths.
Really good video. Zoro is a deeper character than he oftengeys credit for.
People forget the part in Punk Hazard when Zoro yells at Luffy to get his act together because they were supposed to be doing better as a team and crew after the time-skip, but Luffy was falling back into his happy-go-lucky nature.
a moment where people most of the time forget about zoro is during the Davey back fight arc , it was when chopper was drafted to the other pirate crew and he started crying and shouting that luffy and the other strawhats were the ones who made him leave drum island and he doesn't want to be in another pirate crew. It was at this moment zoro scolded chopper and told him to man up and take responsibility for his actions and that he chose to leave drum island by himself.
I don't know why but for me this moment is one of my favorite zoro moments in the entire story.
zoro is like the big brother of the crew he protects them and calls them dumb when they are. In the nearing end of the water 7 arc zoro is brought into a family and no matter whether they are his family or not he protects them either way. Not only that the mother of this so called family had an adopted family and in an argument, says these words "you don't need to be blood related to be family". I think this really changes zoro's perspective of the idea family and it helps tie into the belief that the straw hats are his family
Strangely you missed an important point from your favourite scene.
Zorro experienced the pain Luffy is willing and able to go through and that boosted his respect and loyality for sure.
This take is really on point. I agree with literally everything you said. Zoro is a fantastic character. You could add that after thriller bark Zoro’s desire to be the worlds greatest swordsman is reinforced. He must in order for Luffy to achieve his dream.
That scene in thriller bark where zoro took all of luffy's pain and practically sacrificed himself along with his dreams for his captain really made my respect for him go higher than it already was 🥺
I have no doubt that Luffy would have done the same for zoro if he were put in the same situation, which just makes their dynamic as captain and vice captain so much better
Luffy would have for any of his crew
Every straw hat is loyal to luffy and are willing to die for luffy, face their most feared situations heads on and so much more, but what differentiates zoro from the rest is he is willing to swallow his pride, and he has done it so many times (sanji also had a similar situation in wano in which he was ready to turn into a monster [ even if it meant hitting women] for his captain’s sake), im not belittling sanji’s resolve as he was ready to take zoros place and die for luffy, but there’s always something about zoro that makes him different, zoro was the first one to truly look at luffy and see the next pirate king, and he’s the only one to call luffy by pirate king on 2 occasions, a feat that no strawhat has done as of yet, that’s why zoro is the vice captain, he will correct luffy’s mistakes, but accept his decisions without a second’s thought (the way he accepted the alliance with law, the way he accepted drake as an ally, and many more)
One thing that not so many people remember is that even at the very beginning of the story, when luffy and zoro fight the kuro pirates at usopp’s village, zoro deliberately takes usopp’s slingshot to protect him from captain kuro’s subordinates
Zoro really became my favorite character from his intro but i never would've thought he'd be as strong as he's become . I've been blown away by just about everything he's done😂

Side note but Zoro is also a cnr stone for Sanji now. When Sanji was concerned about losing himself he trusted Zoro. Hes the person the whole crew trusts to have there back, only second to Luffy.

We all know Zoro is the vice captain of the straw hats. He is the one that respects him the most. He has bet his life anf pride for luffy despite been a Conqueror multiple times. He Marco to Whitebeard. No one should never disrespect his captain, even though the strawhat dynamic is special, Zoro was in the right.

Love the Zoro hyping, and your character break down is good. Dunno if I'd say no one else is as loyal, I think Nami and Robin are neck and neck with him in terms of absolute loyalty.
Everyone in the strawhats are loyal and pretty close to zoro, nami and robin tbh aren’t close to sanji in loyalty, nami kind of showed that in wano too when she hesitated calling luffy the pirate king. She ultimately did because she is loyal but character like zoro and probably maybe sanji wouldn’t.
@@Abysslz I get where you're coming from and agree that they are all loyal, but still disagree on the main point. Nami and Robin are supporters as a rule, their character profiles don't give them the God complex that Zoro and Sanji have. Nami especially leans toward being cowardly by nature. Similarly to how much harder it hit with Ussop in Alabasta, devotion strong enough to overcome that cowardice comes through much more poignantly.

I was hoping you would tap into his flaws such as how he decide his path and purposes. Every strawhat has flaws that is reflected on their gag which is why i believe that Zoro is a man who unable to set his path correctly (If you remember when he said he wants to lead the samurai but now he ends up changing his mind and choose to be follower instead). I will say tha the video in general is alright but his point at 5:23 is just wrong, Zoro has shown to respect him before when seing him triying to be helpfull and at most he is anooyed and ignorant of his scarey adtitude but the moment he is hurt he gets in his serious adtitude when ready to hurt who hurt Ussop.

I don't know about you guys but to me it always feels like the SH crew knows that Zoro is the 2nd strongest and the first ome to join. I always see the crew respecting Zoro the most behind Luffy of course.
Zoro might not have a sense of direction but He is the moral compass for the Strawhats, guiding them towards the right path.
I've been seeing your videos for a while now but your argument on raising your bounty was what made me subscribe, loved that.
6:35. Gotta love that he also would not let anyone else take that position, and fought for it. Thankfully Zoro had character development, as he took on Mihawk like traits, and really is the most “pirate” like pirate. While originally thought Jinbe was going to become a first mate/quartermaster early on, and the strongest just below Luffy or on par with Zoro just prior to Whitebeard War. ( Zoro was still often goofy, made threats to leave, was “out of balance” as he was the only voice for responsibility) But his change taking some character traits from Mihawk and a reminder of severity has been on point.
It’s One Piece, but other Shounen really can have growth, but every other Straw Hat just reverted back to their original positions after an arc. But Zoro’s goal requiring strength, and living with a dude whose aware how strong Yonkou are, and just beneath their level made it work out so god damn well.
( *cries* Really wanted Jinbe to join earlier, to have more naval battles. For it to be impossible to get around the new world without a helmsman. If Jinbe had joined earlier, the danger would’ve been enhanced. But it’s still been awesome to have a insanely stoic character be self sacrificing. Also to have Zoro be able to retain some of his quirkier traits, but his character been done so god damn well)

I think also, we tend to overlook that Zoro almost never fights anyone at full strength. He doesn't start fights by going all out against weaker foes, he carries injuries into later battles. This doesn't get underlined the same way with other Strawhats. Luffy will build up injuries, but all from the same opponent. Zoro gets hurt, wins, then we see that specific injury be a hindrance to zoro. It just makes him cooler.
the eceptions was Afferhe saw Ussop hurt while seaching for the money for the boat, there he just went serious for seing his friend hurt like that.

You forgot to mention that at whiskey peak Zoro practically was keeping the whole crew safe against the sinister plans for them.
I've always believed that ever since either his first encounter with Mihawk or Thriller Bark, Zoro has been fighting and/or cheating death this entire time. Like, that moment in Wano is the closest we as an audience have come to to seeing what he's seen, likely more than once this whole journey when he's become close to death (Mihawk, Arlong, Mr. 1, Skypiea, Thriller Bark, Sabody, probably Mihawk's Island, and Wano multiple times)
The grim reaper that visit zoro kinda mysterious... Either that was his Asura or a sign that one of his blade will become black blade... But there will be a test for zoro in upgrading his blade to Supreme class
I love when the other StrawHats squad up and get Luffy’s back also when Luffy acts like a captain and tells his crew what to do.
You should look into Garp! I’d love to hear a theory about how he will be involved as he always seems to know more than what he lets on. Roger could potentially have told him what they found on one piece which is the true reason he took in Ace. He is always conveniently placed with characters we know will be important later. He trained Koby and he was the escort for Shirahoshi at the Reverie. Not only that, but in Romance Dawn Ver. 2 Garp was a pirate and wanted Luffy to be one as well!
7:35 to be quite honest I don't think Kuma did let Zoro off and eased up on his technique/the amount he extracted. I just believe that he trusted that Zoro would overcome based upon the will power he displayed and also what he already knew of Luffy.

Everyone has a special role in the strawhat. Zoros role is defend the crew with his strength. Thats why he is the only one that doesnt sleep during nights. And sleep anytime else.
I would also add their fight on whiskey peak to this video as an example of growing pains of zoro learning to be a subordinate to luffy
I have wondered why it isnt talked about a lot, what loyalty and belief 'Robin' has in Luffy. I have noticed a few times the difference between the straw hats in this regard. All the others at times questions his actions or are "afraid" of something going to happen. But as with Zoro, Robin always, without a doubt having the strongest, unrelenting belief in Luffys actions. Never really heard anyone mentioned it, but I think its interesting nonetheless!

@@Johnny2137 Thats not really prejudice against Luffy tho, more that she warns him because of her experience, like she has done since she got on the crew. experience and knowledge is kind of part of her character. She probably has some instances, but when compared to Nami, Usopp or Chopper for example, the belief she has in him goes beyond any of them. Though, its kind glossed over and not really that noticeable.

I think that if zoro becomes the strongest swordsman in the world it will actually help luffy more than anyone can think cause the only three thing that are dangerous to luffy are
Water
Swords & sharp objects
Nami's logical punch
If zoro will become the strongest swordsman , then no swords men will even think of getting closer to luffy until they are confident as hell like zoro challenging Mihawk and luffy challenging the admirals
. I think strawhats are really something out of ordinary , they can follow there own dream and help there captain to become undefeatable just like nami is completing her dream of seeing whole world and making map of it , sanji trying to get better at cooking every day , chopper becoming an expert in healing , Robin getting her freedom , Franky getting his time to do things which are his important to him (mostly mechanicals and stuff) , brook getting friends , jinbei completing his promise and trying to rescue his fellow fishmen . I think they all need luffy and luffy need all of them to reach their individual goals

Zoro the only one who can cut Luffy. The cut, that reminds luffy, that the cut should be the last he shall ever receive. Also, reminding Luffy that if he ever changes course of their dreams, Zoro would always be there to correct him to the right path. Lastly, he'll be always next to him, and be the first to arrive for him.

Robin fell forced to push them away because of his previous actions and the repercusions of having her around towards the world goverment, she was ready to die has Luffy failed to save them from Moria.
Sanji was blackmailed into pushing Luffy away and he really was hurt for what he did, he has also prove to not have fear of sacrifice his life in the in the name of Luffy.
Frankie is the more centered on emotions of the crew and will only get angry at luffy is he showns to be less of the man he totaly respects and puts his all in helping.
Jinbei is torn over his obligations but he has always shown complete respect and interest in seing Luffy grow to be a king, first showing when he declare to himself that he is not helping Luffy out of respect towards Ace but because he sees him as someone of respect and sees him as someone above the emperor to the point that Big mom cloud not hurt him.
And for Nami, she is very honored to be a strawhat and she clearly cared to stay by his side even when she cant do anything at the moment or belive the there´s nothing to gain from doing something.
I mean to say that all sthe strawhats are cleraly loyal to Luffy to a high degreee.

Zoro's character has gotten stale and one noted tbh. He's a badass we get it, but the actual character growth Sanji has gotten in recent arcs has surpassed Zoro's character imo. I hope we see him grow as a person and not just get physically stronger
Is like whit Luffy, you dont see him grow much at short invertavals, he is ever showing a stoic and serious persona who has grow kinder the more he is whit the crew,most the strawhats dont develop that much from the base in a outside perspective, they grow in ways that are more subtle.

Sanji got himself a whole arc man, I imagine Zoro will probably get explored more before his presumed duel with Mihawk. We've already seen foreshadowing with him having a connection to the Shimotsuki clan, its been all this time and we STILL don't know why he only uses one eye now, and then the business with the grim reaper rolling up on Zoro, I think we'll delve more into his character sooner rather than later.

Also zoro bounty is 320 million not 320 thousand.
Berries are measured in Yen so you need to convert the dollars to Yen which increases the number a thousandfold
