I think buggy ironically represents the human aspect of one piece. You can have the greatest natural ability in the world but your put against a giant dragon, 3 sword welding badass, or the sun God…. You look pretty insignificant.
Buggy defeats a high caliber opponent, possibly Mihawk, singlehandedly. Using his fruit awakening, Dust mode! He take advantage of his chop chop fruit's specialty, move and attack without losing strength after splitting into pieces. Buggy moves at blinding speeds, takes advantage of the momentum, and splits himself on a cellular level. Striking full force with every individual pieces. This probably happens during a moment of desperation and is seen by many who hold sway over the information network. Which is how the WG found out and saw the threat he really is. This might sound like something out of left field but what if buggy is like the main character from Trigun, from a outside perspective he's a man that's clueless, a gag-character and not strong at all but turns out he's the most powerful all along orrrrrrr his devil fruit is literally fooling people.
Manu! My theory is that he has a god fruit and is not aware like luffy was. Luffys fruit is immune to blunt attacks, but weak to slashes - exact opposite to buggys. Shanks made both "accidently" eat their fruits and even the gorosei might be aware of buggys god fruit, hence why they made him a shichibukai and later on an emperor the second nika luffy was named an emperor as well. Buggy is so "weak" because he lacked confidence and conviction. After Impel down, his charisma and aimply "faking it till he makes it" is carrying him far enough to make use of the connections he made. I assume he escaped whoever came to get him and probably teamed up with Weevil, another warlord with a bug name. I doubt Mihawk is chilling with him since he can see through this, but both probably are allied with Shanks at the moment, which might be why he was put on the level of Yonko.
No matter what anyone says, Luffy is one of the best choices for pirate kind from the beginning. I mean if roger hadn’t died he WOULD have met Luffy. He has a major family head start.
When I think of Buggy being one of the final obstacles for Luffy, I imagine it being like in the old pokemon games, where our rival is the champion for maybe 10mins and then gets defeated by us xD omg don´t get my hopes up that Shanks actually meant Buggy 🤣 "on the outside he looks like he has it all together but in reality he is kind of in pieces" is a good sum up XD His secret power is that he´s always there at the right time at the right place somehow even though it puts him through hell most of the time xD
Buggy D Clown plain and simple. Guy was surrounded by absolute hitters when he was part of the Rogers pirates. You're not weak if you stand next to a peak Roger. I think Buggy has some Haki resilience and can use it subconsciously hence his ability to dodge Mihawk. like Shanks he was basically raised on the roger ship. I think Buggy like Luffy has potential because of his up bringing. Buggy obviously started out as a joke but with these tweaks he actually has potential.
if buggy awakened his chop chop powers, then as they said he may be able to influence the world around him by chopping it up and reassembling it as he likes just as law does with his room power. in a way, buggy could combine all manner of things into a working giant of himself maybe out of ships complete with canons for fingers. i can see how the chop chop fruit could be devastating in theory, but i still think that he is now using a sheet as his body because he is a hostage and has become a puppet yonko with someone else using him and his influence for their own goals.

I think a haki infused strike still cannot cut buggy since it's not like logia where the actually body is transformed to that element and haki allows it to touch the actual body while, Buggy's body doesn't actually turn into element but split instead, maybe he feel pain when cut by haki but still splits. That's what I think.
Imagine buggy being the key to one piece. Roger had kept the fruit for that sake. Buggy's fruit is the separate fruit, but when awakened joins stuff together. What if he is the key to uniting all the islands into one continent.
Just consider it, if you want.... Buggy was more focused on treasures than power.... Just imagine if he had found the tresure... 🤔 Hmm... Now he may be having similar or more financial power than World Government... Remember the countries paying more has more stature in the world... If buggy somehow used the treasure to gain Yonko status.... 💪 Because now he has power to influence countries that are part of World Govt.
Also consider how strong each of the survivors of Roger's crew are and next consider that Buggy is one of the surviving members of said crew. Then the fact that Shanks wanted Buggy to join his crew.
I really don't think Buggy will bother with claiming one piece. It's a treasure he's pretty much already found through his connection with Roger and I doubt buggy wants to just find a treasure that's already been found.
I think Buggy took Kaido's place in the underworld (I don't know how he managed to do that in a week though 😅). Add that to his fleet, the power of the pirates within his fleet, the fact that he was a Roger pirate… That's a pretty strong case to become a Yonko already. And most of the One Piece world, just like his crewmates, believe that his strength matches that of a Yonko (except for maybe a few people like Shanks, or some of the Strawhats that know Buggy's true physical strenght for instance. knowing the characters, they probably don't care about it 🤣).
Black Beard will kill him what will provoke Red to fight Black Bear - then BB will finally kill Red what will provoke Luffy to confront BB. End of story.

I'd love to see Buggy have a crew comprised of all the "weak" enemies Luffy defeats with low dif. Like Kuro, Don Krieg (fitting with his new underworld boss theme and using tricks), Wapol, Foxy, Caesar(both clowns), Brulee (circus funhouse mirrors), the Gifters (fitting his circus motif with animals and being gag characters, his first mate Mohji is a beast tamer) etc.
Luffy beat everyone low dif until crocodile. The only reason it was any kind of challenge was because of outside interference like being hypnotized or having his feet stuck in the ground

Or separate his body down to the atomic levels and become immune to almost everything. wield this atomic sized parts towards inside to his opponent (because they are so small they can get through skin cells) and assemble them in order to make a huge internal damage on opponent's vital organs.

One of the many reasons why Buggy rose into the Emperor of the Seas is his underground connections. Now that the whole operation of Doflamingo a.k.a "Joker" is destroyed, the Buggy Delivery Service competes in the underground world now that we are near the endgame of the story. His previous title as Warlord sets the stage for his power to grow exponentially. While we are shocked by the news, it is natural, however (in my opinion) that his place is justified. It is refreshing to see that the power dynamics of the Emperors now do not focus on brute strength alone. He, being one of the 4 strongest pirates sets a new standard in the Yonkou system. Strength alone is not enough. (although it is necessary to continue because of stronger foes) Influence plays an important role now in the new saga of the pirate world. With the extent of the Buggy Delivery Service, and his established background as one of the apprentices in Roger's crew, more or less his influence became larger. In addition, a more extensive influence may equate to a larger territory since most of their transactions deal with the underground. While the likes of Whitebeard, Shanks, Blackbeard, Big Mom, and Luffy marked their territories with their flags, Buggy may have placed his territories under the facade of "trade" that his crew specializes in. And I think it is common that the place where your business operates is presumed to be under your influence or territory. Buggy is different from the three because he is the type of Yonkou that is more about "business." want it or not he was part of Roger crew. It is like having the name Bush or Clinton and going into politics. You may not reach top spot but you can easily reach any spots without even trying which is what Jeb and Hillary did. A random guy sweeping the floor would automatically become an idol if he was there during the golden era and part of the best crew ever. @Jean Bob Yes, it is true. However, unlike Rockstar or those in the example, Buggy did not spread that he was a member of the Roger Crew. It was later revealed in the story when he joined with Luffy and co during the Paramount War. And, his reaction was shocked because the Navy has this information. So, Buggy never intended to use the name of Roger in the first place. And only focused on amassing wealth or treasures. He could join Shanks but decided to went on his own treasure hunt.

I’d be willing to bet that buggy was always a monster level powerhouse but was fulfilling a destiny of being a signal of the new king of the pirates. Buggy has proven himself time and time again to be one of the most clever and resilient characters in the story. No matter the situation he is presented with buggy is able to retain or build a loyal crew. If we’re to assume that buggy was in east blue to find the greatest treasure of them all, maybe that treasure is the next pirate king. Buggy has shown 0 interest in the position but he is the king of character that would understand best that a close proximity to the pirate king would yield the best payout treasure. We’ll see though I guess.
I somehow would really hard enjoy it, should he indeed ascend to a literal pirate god. Like a real god. And everyone plus Luffy and all his former enemies are like "How the did he manage this?! Doflamingo, Big Mom and even Kaido have lost their "investors" from the Criminal Underworld or the Syndicates...those investors have turned to Buggy's own business organization and got rich from his clients. Add also Buggy's discovery of Captain John's hidden treasure, thanks to a map Luffy gave Buggy while they were at Impel Down! Add his sudden fame to facing Whitebeard at Marineford and add also to his promotion to Shishibukai. Even though the Shishibukai system has been abolished, the Gorosei decided to promote him to Yonko in a desperate attempt to diminish Luffy 's own Yonko status!
The gorosei do not assign the title of yonko. Its not an official title, but a global recognition of power/influence. Big news Morgans is the one who "makes it official" if anything. The WG only assigns titles to those who work for/with them, the Emperors don't. They are separate entities entirely. Ask Ohara or GLR's Liam. 💯😁
Buggy literally clowned on the WG with his "Grand Line Fedex" business when he was made Shichibukai. He probably is extremely rich now and commands a grand fleet either similar or bigger than our Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Since probably his couriers and partners just turned pirates again when the Shichibukai got disolved

The crazy thing to me about Mihawk - the first spotlighted time we've seen a paramecia type use their DF to evade haki-infused attacks was Katakuri. By spotlighted, I mean an instance where the feat was presented seriously (e.g. Nami has bludgeoned Luffy many times, but it was first treated as a serious feat when Garp first did it post-Enies Lobby).

Since you referred to Buggy and Usopp as the Trickster type, there have been other characters who have that same sort of position. Such as Foxy, Caesar and probably Caribou and Miss Bakin.
I've said it once, " Why would the King of the Pirates have weak members on his ship? Roger had the Highest bounty! Every pirate that wanted to make a name for themselves went after Roger and crew and I guess Buggy hid every battle. Buggy and Shanks were always in competition with each other, you don't think steel sharpens steel even if it was Buggy. Roger kept Buggy around for comedy? I think not.

I always thought Buggy was much more capable than what we've seen previously. Every other surviving member of Roger's crew has been an absolute monster. Bullet, Rayleigh, Krokus, Oden, Scopper Gaban, Shanks... All absolute beasts. Buggy, in my opinion, never showed much of his actual fighting prowess but was the closest person to actually killing Luffy, before Kaido. Mihawk's Yoru, a haki I fused black blade was overpowered without Buggy seemingly using any haki at all. But, being on Roger's ship with such powerhouses whom all use haki in advanced forms tells me he was on par with Shanks. Buggy didn't want to be a Yonko, or Warlord, he was on the hunt for Captain John's treasure. But Buggy is an ultimate opportunist, taking whatever comes his was as a blessing/gift. And Shanks knows Buggy more than anyone else, literally have up going to Laugh Tale because Buggy got sick. Shanks at Marine Ford, treated Buggy as an equal and it was noticed, it then came out that he was a former member of Roger's crew. Openly turned down an offer from a Yonko. I'm calling this right now. Crocodile, Weevil, Hancock, and Mihawk joined Buggy's fleet and pushed away all the Marines. That is the part of chaos we haven't seen yet, outside of Wano.. the SSG failed miserably...
I kinda like the idea that Oda is exploring different types of rivals. Smoker, Coby, Akainu, Blackbeard, Kidd, Buggy... All could be called rivals of Luffy, but each and every one of those rivalry dynamic are completely different. And there are a lot of things like that in the story. There could be whole hours long analysis made about how Oda is using and exploring storytelling devices and cliches. I believe that's why One Piece takes so long, because Oda likes seeing different spins on things. Friendly rival, serious rival, serious but comedic rival, ideological rival, revenge rival...
Honestly buggy is such an amazing and harmless character. From what I remember all he ever really cared about was remaining low-key and finding treasures that the fact he's considered a villain never made any sense to me since he never actually really hurt anyone or outright attacked anyone and it's usually him being attacked and having to defend himself without hurting anyone severely or at all in the process.

He might not have confidence. We know with hindsight how powerful those other pirates are but when he was on Rogers crew it might have just been the norm.

I think Buggy is the most Pirate like pirate in one piece. He's cunning, trickster and opportunistic. He just got the right mindset as pirate to pursue treasure, prioritized escape than fighting and keep low key so he could roam around freely. As a Captain, he will just let his crew be the flashy pirate they want as long as they bring the booty at the end of the day. Other than treasure hunting, he loves to have a feast, fun and freedom. 🤣
The only reason I believe Buggy has not been secretly hiding some awesome powers, is because we've heard his internal thought process many times. Internal buggy is more terrified than even external buggy.

Buggy is very interesting because he have the most potential to get a power up. Bro have TWO former warlord of the sea in his guild. If Mihawk and Corcodile felt like it, they could easily become his teacher and force him to train to make their mascot becomes stronger so they dont have to deal with the marines.

I think Buggy's new bounty is 1.5 billion. It was Luffy's first bounty as a Yonko, but more importantly it shares a connection with Luffy's bounty. Luffy's bounty is 100x his first bounty of 30 million, so I think Buggy's bounty will also be 100x his first bounty of 15 million.
I believe that Oda is going with the anime trope of the first main villain. Lingering around in the series, after the main character, Powers up a significant level past him. Often becoming an ally, with a love-hate relationship.
Either Buggy's fruit is incredibly overpowered and he literally cannot be cut by anything or he has incredible observation haki and he split his body into all those pieces before mihawk could cut him. Either one suggests incredible strength either by luck or hard work. I have to assume that he at least learned a little about how to use haki since he was on Rogers crew

Just like Buggy can be compared to Usopp, I think that a similar comparison can be drawn against Luffy as well! As we know, at Marineford Mihawk explains that Luffy has the ability to "one by one, turn the people around him into his allies", that he "possesses the most terrifying power" -- but couldn't that same explanation be applied to Buggy? The only difference is that Mihawk states that Luffy's ability is "not a Devil Fruit, or some cheap trick", but in Buggy's case it is by definition a cheap trick, where he even goes as far to use his own Devil Fruit to appear larger than he is, adding to his deceit.
Buggy awakening is molecular spliting. He can split enemies in a molecular level, which will ignore how strong the enemy is. Hence, this will make him an incredibly powerful pirate.
haki is said to give you a resistance to wierd devil fruit powers like that, even if the awakening allowed you to split others, strong enough haki would prevent it to some degree, same as law's fruit.

It's also interesting to point out that, like Luffy, he too is building up his crew bit-by-bit as the story goes on. He has Alvida and Galdino aka Mr. 3 joining Cabaji, Mohji, Richie, and himself. Will he have even more allies - with names - on his side as he races towards One Piece ... Caesar Clown? That said, with the story coming to a close it'll be interesting to see if all these 'liars' will have some form of repercussions: Will Buggy learn to trust in his own accomplishments rather than his associations? What if the Boa Sisters' backs are revealed and the Amazons struggle to trust them (If you think about it Hancock has become somewhat a twisted version of a Celestial Dragon, punishing any who question/defy her)? What if Ussop wanted to meet his father just to punch/berate him for abandoning him and his mom (Looking up to Yassop was the ultimate lie)? Will Blackbeard accept fate even if it leads to his demise or will he throw his crew 'under the bus' to show his 'true' selfishness? ETC.

1:33 I think we are forgetting that buggy has been out of his element for years, he has not fought or trained (well truly) for years. Its like a major veteran who is in a room sitting for 20 years it would be hard to be good in that moment, sometimes you need to practice again and regain confidence to be able to be good.
I think he has gained some strength when he was in impel down, and the timeskip also allows for him to gain power. I think his current strength could be at the very most, the minimum one needs to be considered a warlord

With the extent of the Buggy Delivery Service, and his established background as one of the apprentices in Roger's crew, more or less his influence became larger. In addition, a more extensive influence may equate to a larger territory since most of their transactions deal with the underground. While the likes of Whitebeard, Shanks, Blackbeard, Big Mom, and Luffy marked their territories with their flags, Buggy may have placed his territories under the facade of "trade" that his crew specializes in. It was later revealed in the story when he joined with Luffy and co during the Paramount War. And, his reaction was shocked because the Navy has this information. So, Buggy never intended to use the name of Roger in the first place. And only focused on amassing wealth or treasures. He could join Shanks but decided to went on his own treasure hunt.

I’d be willing to bet that buggy was always a monster level powerhouse but was fulfilling a destiny of being a signal of the new king of the pirates. Buggy has proven himself time and time again to be one of the most clever and resilient characters in the story. No matter the situation he is presented with buggy is able to retain or build a loyal crew. If we’re to assume that buggy was in east blue to find the greatest treasure of them all, maybe that treasure is the next pirate king. Buggy has shown 0 interest in the position but he is the king of character that would understand best that a close proximity to the pirate king would yield the best payout treasure. I had the thought that when Buggy saw the straw hat, he immediately recognized it and went easy on Luffy. He's been planning things out since then.
Doflamingo, Big Mom and even Kaido have lost their "investors" from the Criminal Underworld or the Syndicates...those investors have turned to Buggy's own business organization and got rich from his clients. The gorosei do not assign the title of yonko. Its not an official title, but a global recognition of power/influence. Big news Morgans is the one who "makes it official" if anything. Buggy literally clowned on the WG with his "Grand Line Fedex" business when he was made Shichibukai. He probably is extremely rich now and commands a grand fleet either similar or bigger than our Straw Hat Grand Fleet. The crazy thing to me about Mihawk - the first spotlighted time we've seen a paramecia type use their DF to evade haki-infused attacks was Katakuri. By spotlighted, I mean an instance where the feat was presented seriously (e.g. Nami has bludgeoned Luffy many times, but it was first treated as a serious feat when Garp first did it post-Enies Lobby).

I always thought Buggy was much more capable than what we've seen previously. Every other surviving member of Roger's crew has been an absolute monster. Bullet, Rayleigh, Krokus, Oden, Scopper Gaban, Shanks... All absolute beasts. Buggy, in my opinion, never showed much of his actual fighting prowess but was the closest person to actually killing Luffy, before Kaido. Mihawk's Yoru, a haki I fused black blade was overpowered without Buggy seemingly using any haki at all. But, being on Roger's ship with such powerhouses whom all use haki in advanced forms tells me he was on par with Shanks. Buggy didn't want to be a Yonko, or Warlord, he was on the hunt for Captain John's treasure. But Buggy is an ultimate opportunist, taking whatever comes his was as a blessing/gift. And Shanks knows Buggy more than anyone else, literally have up going to Laugh Tale because Buggy got sick. Shanks at Marine Ford, treated Buggy as an equal and it was noticed, it then came out that he was a former member of Roger's crew. Openly turned down an offer from a Yonko. I'm calling this right now. Crocodile, Weevil, Hancock, and Mihawk joined Buggy's fleet and pushed away all the Marines. I kinda like the idea that Oda is exploring different types of rivals.
Smoker, Coby, Akainu, Blackbeard, Kidd, Buggy... All could be called rivals of Luffy, but each and every one of those rivalry dynamic are completely different.
And there are a lot of things like that in the story.
There could be whole hours long analysis made about how Oda is using and exploring storytelling devices and cliches.
I believe that's why One Piece takes so long, because Oda likes seeing different spins on things. Friendly rival, serious rival, serious but comedic rival, ideological rival, revenge rival...
Honestly buggy is such an amazing and harmless character. From what I remember all he ever really cared about was remaining low-key and finding treasures that the fact he's considered a villain never made any sense to me since he never actually really hurt anyone or outright attacked anyone and it's usually him being attacked and having to defend himself without hurting anyone severely or at all in the process.

Think about it, he was part of Rogers crew, he took part in fights with Rogers crews against other powerful crew, he has been a pirate since he was a kid, he has connections in the underworld. I think Buggy is the most Pirate like pirate in one piece. He's cunning, trickster and opportunistic. He just got the right mindset as pirate to pursue treasure, prioritized escape than fighting and keep low key so he could roam around freely. As a Captain, he will just let his crew be the flashy pirate they want as long as they bring the booty at the end of the day. Other than treasure hunting, he loves to have a feast, fun and freedom. 🤣

I think Buggy's new bounty is 1.5 billion. It was Luffy's first bounty as a Yonko, but more importantly it shares a connection with Luffy's bounty. Luffy's bounty is 100x his first bounty of 30 million, so I think Buggy's bounty will also be 100x his first bounty of 15 million.

Either Buggy's fruit is incredibly overpowered and he literally cannot be cut by anything or he has incredible observation haki and he split his body into all those pieces before mihawk could cut him. Either one suggests incredible strength either by luck or hard work. I have to assume that he at least learned a little about how to use haki since he was on Rogers crew

Just like Buggy can be compared to Usopp, I think that a similar comparison can be drawn against Luffy as well!
As we know, at Marineford Mihawk explains that Luffy has the ability to "one by one, turn the people around him into his allies", that he "possesses the most terrifying power" -- but couldn't that same explanation be applied to Buggy? The only difference is that Mihawk states that Luffy's ability is "not a Devil Fruit, or some cheap trick", but in Buggy's case it is by definition a cheap trick, where he even goes as far to use his own Devil Fruit to appear larger than he is, adding to his deceit.
Buggy awakening is molecular spliting. He can split enemies in a molecular level, which will ignore how strong the enemy is. Hence, this will make him an incredibly powerful pirate.
haki is said to give you a resistance to wierd devil fruit powers like that, even if the awakening allowed you to split others, strong enough haki would prevent it to some degree, same as law's fruit.

It's also interesting to point out that, like Luffy, he too is building up his crew bit-by-bit as the story goes on. He has Alvida and Galdino aka Mr. 3 joining Cabaji, Mohji, Richie, and himself. Will he have even more allies - with names - on his side as he races towards One Piece ... Caesar Clown?
That said, with the story coming to a close it'll be interesting to see if all these 'liars' will have some form of repercussions: Will Buggy learn to trust in his own accomplishments rather than his associations? What if the Boa Sisters' backs are revealed and the Amazons struggle to trust them (If you think about it Hancock has become somewhat a twisted version of a Celestial Dragon, punishing any who question/defy her)? What if Ussop wanted to meet his father just to punch/berate him for abandoning him and his mom (Looking up to Yassop was the ultimate lie)? Will Blackbeard accept fate even if it leads to his demise or will he throw his crew 'under the bus' to show his 'true' selfishness? ETC.
one thing a-lot of people froget is that Buggy is now the top weapon manufacturer, that means buggy's little circus tent is probably one of the most secure places in the world lol

1:33 I think we are forgetting that buggy has been out of his element for years, he has not fought or trained (well truly) for years. Its like a major veteran who is in a room sitting for 20 years it would be hard to be good in that moment, sometimes you need to practice again and regain confidence to be able to be good.
I think he has gained some strength when he was in impel down, and the timeskip also allows for him to gain power. I think his current strength could be at the very most, the minimum one needs to be considered a warlord
