    A couple years back, when I was first getting into fitness, I played the Witcher games and decided that I wanted to look like Geralt did in Wild Hunt (minus the scars). I figured that since I'm a skinnier guy, it'd be a realistic goal for me. Now, I'd say I kinda do look like that (fine, my arms and legs are a bit smaller), but I stopped caring about aesthetics altogether a while ago.

    • @DiamorphineDeath
      @DiamorphineDeath 4 года назад

      What’s wrong with the scars? That was the only thing I thought I’d love to imitate...not the musculature/lack thereof. You gotta earn those things man.

    • @roadhouse6999
      @roadhouse6999 4 года назад

      @@DiamorphineDeath I got nothing against scars - got one down my chest, one across my sternum, and one on my chin, but I'm not gonna get covered in scars on purpose.

    • @DiamorphineDeath
      @DiamorphineDeath 4 года назад +1

      Not what I said; what I said, or implied anyways with my last statement is it shows a life well lived doing things that normal everyday individuals would not do. Say chainsaw/wood working/manual labor, what have you. You pick up scars as you go as it shows that you did not live a soft or easy life. Hence the use of an abundant and hyperbolic amount in the game, is to show the experience and stories that must have gone into that, pointing towards the main character being even more of a badass than one might expect. I'm pointing more towards living the stories and everything that comes with them, not superficially saying you should be covered in them. Again....have to earn them, and have to earn the stories that accompany them.

    • @roadhouse6999
      @roadhouse6999 4 года назад

      @@DiamorphineDeath my bad. What I initially meant when I said "minus the scars" was that I wasn't going to intentionally get hurt to make myself look like a Witcher.
      I'm a junior in college and an Army ROTC cadet, a year and a half away from going into the army as an officer - with the intention of being an infantryman, as well. If I can walk out of that life unscathed, that'd be great. If I don't, well, I knew I was going into a life-threatening job when I signed the contract. The idea of being covered in scars doesn't scare me.
      I hope that clears things up.

    • @DiamorphineDeath
      @DiamorphineDeath 4 года назад +1

      Oh for sure dude. And yes, you would want to walk out of military service unscathed, but knowing that injuries, etc, are going to be a reality. And that's the whole point of adversity dude, if you got out of it unscathed, then what's the point you know?

    • @DiamorphineDeath
      @DiamorphineDeath 4 года назад +1

      Google Jim Wendlers 531 series, he’s got specifics based on low time frame, extra accessory work needs,, etc. You can go in, hit two compound lifts, say Monday deadlift/overhead press, weighted chins, and dips. Then Thursday squat/bench, with some curls and rows. Do some movement stuff through the week, jump rope at home, get a kettlebell in your backyard, etc, and you can get in fucking stellar shape. It’s good for the hormones, and you don’t have to destroy yourself with volume work as a natural lifter. Sometimes being crunched for time can be a godsend in terms of lifting as it forces you to prioritize what movements/exercises are going to give you the biggest bang for your buck, and make you toss out a majority of the isolation/accessory work. Think of it as your compound lifts being the scoops of ice cream in a bowl, and accessory work being the sprinkles. If you want to look good, focus on the scoops and toss out the sprinkles for a good long while, or until you have the luxury of time to devote to fucking off and doing tons of volume in the gym.

    Weighted chins and weighted dips...
    That's all one needs. Or one arm pull ups and sandbag overhead presses. 5-20 rep range.
    That's the blue print to build the whole upper body. If y'all doing ovh presses, just do some flies for pecs, you know? Take two suitcases, each one loaded with sand, and do straight arm flies while lying down on a bench. Again, 5-20 rep range.

    Quick question: With oblique static holds, what kind of weight are we looking at? Heavy enough for a burn, but not heavy enough to cause any shoulder problems?

    Question:
    For the obliques workout - Can you lift an extended barbell weight and hold it out for the same amount of time or does the workout require a push-effect?

    • @DiamorphineDeath
      @DiamorphineDeath 4 года назад

      The oblique work is anti-rotational, you can attach a band or something, or the cable, or anything that wants to pull you which you are resisting. Holding a weight out in front of you does not accomplish this or stress the same musculature in the same way. You could do loaded carries with one weight in one hand, and nothing with the other, or any number of things, but the anti-rotational aspect is hard to accomplish without bands or cables.

    well CD red projekt did just settle a new agreement with the author of the witcher book. it's highly likely that we will get a fourth witcher game. Geralt may not be the main character though, as his story kinda concluded with the last game. Ciri is most likely going to be the main character if a new game series is announced, or they may even go with a different witcher from a different school, but i doubt that.

      @@alex1141000 the muscles and bulk itself are for utility, in the book and games he's indeed skinnier. But you gotta remember that that's fiction and he is magically enhanced. So it makes sense for the live adaptation of him to be bigger
