    I am Hmong and blessed to know that we Hmong people have a very rich and dedicated culture go way back. Even though every Hmong probably have change slightly because of evolution. But I feel their Hmong vibe right through their action of culture ,foods, and hospitality. The Hmong backstory of war is truly sad if you do know the folklore tales you know what I mean. Hmong/Miao people all over worldwide just know we are one.

      Go to the Hmong people. We are kind. We have historical evidence that we protected France from theft by Laotians. They are our witnesses, and we have proof of it. Laos are thieves, and the Han Chinese are extortionists. Hmong people always honor their words and keep their honor to the highest degree.
      Hmong people are also found in America. Miao is a derogatory word that is given by the Han Chinese, who hated us for over 5000 years.

    I am a 31 year old americanized hmong who knows nothing about what hmong really is so after 2 years of researching the miao in china I got curious and asked my grandma. She recently moved to america 8 years ago as a thai citizen, she has never been on social network before or know it exists. My question was "what is miao?" her reply was "that's what the thai call us they are hmong also" she was even suprised to see this video.

      The Miao are earliest agricultural peoples in China , they call themselves the Miao (苗) . In Chinese characters “ 苗 ” is “ 田 ” ( field ) with “ 艹 ” ( plant ) ,The name “Miao” represents the roots and history of the Miao people. It nothing to do with cats.

    • @kuku4629
      @kuku4629 8 месяцев назад

      I think there’s been a big misunderstanding. Because most people outside of China are unfamiliar with the meaning of “Miao,” it has become confused with the sound a cat makes.
      The word “苗 / Miao” means a sprouting new shoot, symbolizing life and prosperity. It carries no negative connotations in China. With nearly 12 million Miao people, the term unites various tribes into one ethnic community. Distorting “Miao” to mean “cat” is what truly contaminates its original significance.

    The term "Miao", as the anthropologist Norma Diamond explains, does not mean only the antecedents of today's Miao national minority; it is a term, which had been used by the Chinese to describe various indigenous, mountain tribes of Guizhou and other south-western provinces of China, which shared similar cultural traits. China should allow the Hmong Chinese in China name themselves as Hmong people and should not continuing to name the Hmong as Miao because of what has been this evidence studies says. Hmong People as the “mountain-dwelling peoples are name as disrespectfully as the Laotian and Chines government name us as meo, cat, or Miao. So therefore we never heard any ancestor told us the name Miao at all. So the whole world majority call us the Hmong by the names meo/miao/cat and this is not fair and as well violate our civil right as the Hmong people as indigenous minority.

    • @Lee-du1js

      Hmong is part of Miao. Have you not studied anthropology yourself? We are one root. While other groups may be grouped with Miao who don't really belong, the Hmu, Hmong, and Xong ARE Miao. They share a similar culture and language tracing back to one root. You really don't understand anthropology, genetics, linguistic, etc...
