I'm a 75 year old Vietnam Veteran and this song makes me get up and dance.
thank you for your service!
thank you for your service , NOW BOOGIE DOWN
I am a Vietnam Era war orphan. Thank you for your service, Sir, and I am glad you made it home safely.
Yep! Thank you for your service! (My father was a Marine in the late 50s, and my mother's older brother---my Uncle Dutch---served in WWII (he was also a POW). I think my Uncle George was in Korea.
God bless you, thank you for your service, sacrifice and support. This is one of my favs to dance to in my car, yep that's me driving down the road. ❤✌🏻and sooouuul.
God, why can't music like this be made anymore? The feel good vibes and positivity is outrageous. It's like I'm dancing on the ceiling!
they can, it's called cocaine!
Because we’re in the last days and things are getting dark…
Well said! I ask that question every single day. At least we'll have these incredible songs for all our days.
its harder to made then new junk which are boring and without interesting rhytm and peak sound/chorus
@@Mr11ESSE111you mean rhythm
Modern things are even better(up to 900 trillion times better)
I hope my EARTH DOES NOT END LIONEL RICHIE! I used to play GUITAR 🎸🏍⛪️⚽️ and BREAKDANCE! And tried PIANO 🎹!
This is an ABSOLUTE feel good song. It brings the childhood out of you. And I'm feeling it.
By 2024 standards, this is almost TOO much fun! 😂 What a song!!!
Damn straight! This is the kind of stuff we should be reviving from the 80s, not the whole cyberpunk-vaporwave cynicism of our contemporaries.
❤😂Too much. I love it
Bleachers has been making some fun music recently.
give them time, they will find a way to consider this offensive
far much better than the condescending/awful/nasty/racist rap and most hip hop songs we hear since 2000.
I've loved this song forever. I'm 66 now & still want to get up & dance
You can!
Do it, I dance in my car.
The vocal control is legendary
That age was full of talented people!😢🎉❤
These are adults singing, not young kids like today.
I'm so blessed I was born in the mid 70s, raised in the 80s
Lionel Ritchie was phenomenal
I was a club DJ from 1985-1995 and this was one of “those songs” we always used to fill an empty dance floor. Timeless classic.
😁😄🙃
Ol g
D.J's from the 80s Unite!! You Always played our Requests❤
🔔 🔚
What were the other two?
Don’t let’s forget appreciating the musians
Yes we danced all night without a single thought of a cell phone. Great times
Back in the 80s we all had fun. Music ,fashion, dancing, we lived life.❤
@@rjturkyou prune where did you get that false info from
Even now all people are totally calm and also they are just themselves
So true, people were a lot less uptight. Great music like this was everywhere. On the radio, Mtv and in the clubs. Whatta great time to be alive !! 1980's forever baby !
Fun haircuts
You forgot to mention the Cocaine! Lol
Not now we don't because of awful 2000's came!
One of the best songs
80S FOREVER
In the film Royal Wedding (1951), the scene featuring the song "You're All the World to Me" was filmed by building a set inside a revolving barrel and mounting the camera and its operator to an ironing board which could be rotated along with the room. Astaire danced in the barrel set as if he really danced on the wall and ceiling. It inspired the Lionel Richie song "Dancing on the Ceiling" with the music video featuring Richie doing the same room dance as a tribute to Astaire.
THIS IS WHY 80s REMAINS LEGENDARY ⭐💫⚡🙏😢
Fuck Yeah!
The 80"s Rule!
Holy right!
We don’t dance on the ceiling like we used to
What we shud do is everyone have a massive party all these bangin tunes !!!! My parents are so lucky ... we gt justin beber
I got my diploma that Summer!
Really 'Off the wall' . Really contagious party song🎉
Lionel Richie exists on this earth to give us epic music.
Nothing like this anymore ❤
Keep playing these great hits, don't stop.
2023 - can we all please jump into the time machine and go back to the 80s where EVERYONE WAS HAPPY AND HAVING A BLAST!!!!!
yes
2024, and still coming here whenever i need a quick fix for my mood
This song takes me right back to 1986 when I had just met my husband Gareth. Had 34 yrs together. I lost him at 58 yrs of age to cancer . This reminds me of him. Love you Gar. Miss you love ❤️❤️
Memories you'll never forget
I was born in “76” so I remember Lionel’s music as part of my childhood. When my aunts and uncle’s would talk about a party they’d gone to the night before, they would say “man we was dancing on the ceiling.” It was all part of the 80’s culture. This type of fun just doesn’t exist anymore.
0:56 man when this hit... nostalgia kicked in. I remembered listening to this as a kid. I'm only 24. But this felt like a whole different world. People looked like they were genuinely enjoying themselves in this video. Nowadays everyone looks awkward and care about how their every move looks because of the Internet. There's a ton of awesome things that the Internet brought but I feel it messed up the world at the same time, globalisation. Was life really better back then? I'm feeling really sad right now lol
❤❤❤❤
I was huge on Lionel Richie in 1986 dancing on the ceiling was my absolute favorite song It was my workout song dancing in my room lol this song is still my favorite
80s Forever. Never stop passing on the music.
Nice to see the late Rodney Dangerfield at the end of the video.
When music was music I miss 80-00’s !
This song is 100% my wife. I lost her a day ago, and even in death, she gave of herself as an organ donor. Three people's lives were saved because of her gracious donations. I will love her forever.
I'm sorry to see this. Your wife is an angel! Thoughts are with you and your family!!!
I think I like your wife a whole bunch!
Condolences my friend. I will keep good thought and You are in my daily blessings and meditations.
If I may, Thank you so much for sharing What you're going through..... And also thank you for commenting on THIS song!
Now, every time I hear it, I will think of your story... Of you and your wife Dancing... On the Cieling.
Sorry for your loss. My husband was blessed to receive a heart transplant 7.26.22. It is because of generous souls like your wife and his donor that people are blessed with more....
I pray for you my friend
Your strength in loss is admirable.
This was the first album I ever bought. Such a treasure ❤
Cheech Marin guest appearance, and Rodney Dangerfield. LOL
The boppiest bop to ever bop
Am I the only one with nostalgic tears in their eyes? To long for such happier times…. God how I wish it so. The energy from a track like this is just so uplifting. The world may be going crazy but it’s songs like this that restore my hope and I know everything will be alright in the end. Love y’all 🥰
I grew up in the eighties - a young child - but I will always be an 80's man !
I love this comment. I agree 100%. Just keep listening to it to keep that feeling alive.
Yes. It's rubbish.
Lionel Richie still listening fae 1990 ❤
❤😂fan for 45 years still strong 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Epic 80’s
I seriously don’t think Lionel has had one single bad track ever, even when he was with the Commodores. He’s just amazing, love his voice. This is so upbeat. Classic 80s nostalgia 🎶👏🏻👏🏻
Hello pretty 💖
Such an amazing song it makes me remember old times with love ones
Hi Sara

I miss the 80's! Who else wishes they could go back?!
Just a happy party song. Never ages!
Ein tolles Video und toller Song. Zum Tanzen❤😇☺
LG
It has that 80s energy to it.
Rodney Dangerfield's cameo appearance at the end of the video is PRICELESS!
RD: Hey what's happening here?
LR: Come on up!
RD:(looks in the camera surprised 🙀)OH I SHOULDN'T HAVE EATEN THAT UPSIDEDOWN CAKE! HEY LOUIE COME HERE, YOU GOT TO SEE THIS!!! HEY LOUIE, LOUIE!!! 🤣🤣🤣
One of the best feel good songs EVER! STILL HERE IN 2023?
2024 too😊
Fun fact: The director Stanley Donen (who also directed Royal Wedding with Fred Astaire) said that making the video was WAY harder than making the rotating dance sequence in Royal Wedding.
The Royal Wedding dance sequence took five weeks to plan, build, choreograph and shoot. For Dancing on the Ceiling Stanley had only two weeks. And he was working with over a dozen dancers, not just one.
Janet Jackson, Bon Jovi, Run DMC, Van Halen, Madonna, Genesis, AND Lionel Richie (showing the young ones how it's done!) Such a great year for fun music!
That man blew the roof off The Arena with this song. People were dancing in the aisles, on their seats, sweating, dancing with strangers... and that was him opening for Tina Turner's high octane show. He really knows how to bring on a celebration.
Such a wonderful song it makes me remember old times with love ones together
I was there in Buffalo NY as a kid. Thought my my my I LOVE MUSIC
@@PEARLEXPORT2112 that’s really great Lionel Richie stands out really great in music
@Radio Kaos woooow that would be really great please tell me a little about yourself are you married do you have any kids.....?
Hi 👋
Epic. Keep it posted ❤
The summer of 1986...I just graduated from high school...and I was thinking of Ted Knight then, too...wow!!!
One of ‘80s’ finest...
Lionel is one of the only guys that can do country, soul, and rock and still look and sound fantastic doing all of em.
Don't forget dance mix also with the song "Angel".
Icon! One of the greatest. The guy oozes charisma and epitomizes versatility. He's made some timeless songs - and still continues to do it!
Very True, I love Lionel. And by touching all those genre's he opened himself to multiple markets, multiple fan bases. he's got many great songs
Christopher C And pop!
Amen
I auditioned to this when I was 11. For the Commonwealth Games 1986. I got in 😂❤🎉
Watched this video like ten times before realizing that some of the shots are in a small box room that’s rotating while the camera is fixed to it and rotating as well.😂
When they’re walking on the walls and ceilings the “room” they’re in is considerably smaller than the room in the rest of the shots. 😂
2022 and still jamming 😍🥳 The 80s remain a LEGENDARY GOLDEN ERA!!! What a time to be alive bless up Lionel ❤️
True Fact-In real life it's not possible to dance on the ceiling
In a song video yes but in real life no
Whaou 👍👍👍👍👏👍🥳😄 ça c est de la musique
My God 80s the best 4 me and 90s
I don't know who the f*** think you are talking s*** to me I'm about my phone dude my own f****** business dog

This is the most 80s thing ever.

Bom demais cara
Yeah Cold War challenges us! We dance on the ceiling or among the Trees. Love this Music!
Oh what a feeling when your plastering the ceiling
I miss the 80's. It was the only era where every music ruled and entire friends, families and even neighbors could relate.
dont forget the movies and DRUGS
agreed.
@@gabaghoul23MDMA and MDA were legal and cheap! People just can’t understand unless they were there.
Absolutely
The 80s had a huge crossover between music genres. Pop was Rock, and Rock had R&B/Dance elements vice versa
It was a nice song, but watching this video with the song makes it a GREAT song! Long live the 80's!!!
Dancing with GOD 😊
One of the best videos for a great song. The guitar solo is one of the best, Carlos Rios is a badass. Going to see Lionel on June 4th here in San Antonio. Gonna dance on the ceiling for sure!
I was working a hotel party New Years Eve 2000 and everybody brightened up so much when this song played. A real crowd pleaser
Chuef did too then flew patisserie fwace cincorde
I'm on the ceiling right now 🕺🕺
I know how it’s done but don’t care. One of best vids ever and a great happy song.
Viva os anos 80!❤❤❤❤
This video was directed by Stanley Donen, the man who helmed "Singin' in the Rain". "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Funny Face", "Damn Yankees" and most importantly "Royal Wedding", which featured Fred Astaire famously dancing on the ceiling. We Love You, Mr. Donen. And you Oscar acceptance is the best I've ever seen, and heard! Bless you Sir.
I began high school in 1988, during a time when the music of the 80s was truly memorable. It was a decade that produced some of the most feel-good tunes that will forever remain embedded in my memories.
Me too, best decade ever. Those songs just stick with you.
Ooooh Lionel be gentle with me!!
Well.how true but thank God 4 Lionel Ritchie 2 still put the young ones in the right zone.
80s music was the greatest. I was 18 in 82 and I am so glad I was young and able to take full advantage of that decade and I still enjoy rocking and partying to the music in my 50s. Keeps me young.
Wayne Johnson lucky you.....I was born late 90s n wish I could time travel
I was 10 when MTV came out and got to enjoy the evolution of music in that era. By the mid 80’s, every artist understood the power of MTV with creative videos like this. But the music still had to good and the 80’s MTV era holds up very well.
When and if I get too old to dance to this music is time to call the game and go home.
I was Five years old in 1982 but still remember hearing this song, especially on the school bus drivers favorite radio station. Great memories of the 80s as a kid.
You must be psychic, this song wasn't released until 1986 @@johnshafer7214
God bless you Mr. Lionel Richie ❤🎶🎶
A lot of feeling we had back in the 80s a lot of feeling when you’re dancing on the ceiling😊
LIONEL RICHIE COMIN' IN HOTT! ❤
I miss the 80s
Fantastic special effects. Fred Astaire would be proud.
When times were simple !
The only time you have to worry about breaking something as if you were dancing not being intimidated❤
How this doesn't have 200 million views blows my mind cmon people get your shit together
Because it's just published in july 2016 ;)
RUclips took down several other videos of this song. I think it's already 4th or 5th upload from VEVO
Uploaded on the 7th July. Before letting your mind get blown and accusing people of lacking having their shit together, check the most basic statistics. You will find there is nothing mind-blowing going on here.
bei Lärm drücke ich dislike.
***** No, in fact it is because this video was only uploaded to youtube on July 7, 2016. The OP's comment was posted on September 6, 2016 - or only some 60 days after the video was published on youtube. In the 5 months since it was uploaded, it has garnered some 700,000 views, or 5,000 views per day since it was uploaded. At that rate, it will only take a few more years until it does reach 200 million. (Well, 109 years to be exact).
Let this world have a party like no other, let's dance in the streets of freedom, peace and most of all love ❤🇱🇷🙏🏻

This song takes me back to a lot of fun decades ago. I love it when music does that to me!
Life is one grand, sweet song so start the music.🥰
I was watching it in 2023❤
The production value of this video is pretty big for that era
And we owe it all to capitalism, Karl.
Capitalism was god's biggest mistake
With Communism being a close second.
I'd argue that communism is the first on that list, atleast with capitalism it functions moderately. Whereas communism ruins the country and it's people.
All capitalists are pigs
, the 80's were a pretty great decade, with wonderful music... shame that there isn't any good music being made these days.
Gotcha 🎉
Oh! Good times! I remember the smell when unwrapping the plastic from the new vinyl.

Lionel Richie is the best - music really was better back in the 80s. More melodic, real instruments audible...
Not to mention upbeat, positive and easy to dance to (no pun intended)
To me so much more of the music was HAPPY!!! Made you feel HAPPY!!!
Monumental song and video. They even got Rodney Dangerfield in on the action.
Banger. Has so much self aware fun.
