Another episode of the El Paso Zoo resident orangutans, Ibu and Khaleesi. In this episode, Khaleesi is climbing her little heart out which might make mom too nervous at times.
To see these beautiful creatures in the wild in their natural elements is incredible. For the most part they live high in the tree tops and rarely set foot on the ground ever. But with all of the nonsense that has been going on for the past few decades of course, things have gotten out of control so much that these beautiful creatures are dangerously close to being instinct. There are only approx less than six to eight thousand left in the wild. There homes almost gone and with the illegal poaching and hunting still going on they only have a couple years left before they are all gone in the wild. I hate seeing all wild animals in captivity as they lose their instincts and become soulless. This mommy still has her maternal instincts but has no life other than that. Normally she would spend about 60% of her day foraging for food in the treetops and her baby close by learning everything her mom does and the rest playing and sleeping never touching the ground ever. But with mans interference that has pretty much gone. This is what man is famous for. Killing off entire species for profit. These animals could never be set back into the wild because they could transmit some disease to their wild counterparts but could be placed into sanctuaries where they could live their lives in peace protected. This is our closest relative and this is how we treat them. Then again we are constantly killing our own kind on a daily basis. We have forgotten all that our ancestors have learned from these beautiful creatures. Sorry for my rant. I'm just sad to see our world in the shape it is in today and these animals suffering for it.
