It just hits different. This last episode was really something. I would love to see a movie of rick's past and how he failed to find the Rick that killed his family, with the end setting off somewhere around the point in time where the show starts. Guess we'll never get that but it is awesome to think about the story behind his Life that we finally saw
i feel like it's almost definetely going to be time travel. if u remember from that one episode where the bugs went into ricks head, u might remember him throwing an apple in with a rotten one coming out, which prob means time travel. what if there was a version of rick that took the portal gun originally offered and regretted it, so he decided to do something to his past self to change how his life will play out, which resulted in his future self killing his family.
he failed because the other rick can break the curve thingy but his cant he can search for his whole life but will never find him because his portal gun can go up left corner lol they wanted thr smartest rick in this universe but he declined maybe because of his big ego he didnt thought about an better portal gun
When you think about it Rick is literally going through the textbook STAGES OF GREIF. He’s stubborn so healing has taken him a lifetime but he’s at the final stage… Acceptance of reality, acceptance of not being able to change it. Shits deep man.
One of those pieces of music I want to listen to when I’m really high. However it also frightens me to now I’ll recall some painful memories I’ve shut away.
The tragedy of Rick Sanchez isn't his loss, his suffering or his loneliness. It's that when he achieved that which no mortal could achieve before, to become any god he wished, he chose to be the god of foolishness. He had literally all of creation in the palm of his hands, no dream beyond his grasp, and what did he do? He chose to make nothing matter.
Rick is the personification of alot of people who realise life is just a rut and endless struggle that means jack shit in the end. you die 3 times... your own death, the death of people around you who remember you and maybe the death of your grandkids who are the last to remember you. If you havent made a name of yourself by then, you will become one of a billion unnamed people that died and leave 0 legacy. Even your own family will forget you 3 generations in. Maybe some people will still have a picture of you, or heard of who your were, but you sieze to exist at that point. Rick is a cinical asshole like lots of people who realised life has 0 meaning other than to reproduce and just die at the end.
In the process of an infinitely long search for answers, Rick became stronger and more advanced, starting to attach less and less importance to everything that was happening, but in the end it makes very little sense...
While I initially didn't like the Season 5 finale as much as I hoped because some of the lines about Rick hating serialization made a lot of the intended bits feel disingenuous, after thinking more about it, I started to realize that there's a much more important point to Rick complaining about the show being serialized than just jabbing viewers that only watch the show for Tammy, Bird Person, and Evil Morty and complain about the show's primary comedy. Rick is constantly running from his past, and he wants to live in an episodic dark-comedy-adventure where you don't have to care about the characters and can just awe at the awesomeness of someone like Rick and laugh at the screw-ups and bad situations the rest of the family finds themselves in because in a serialized show with drama and consequences, Rick would have to own up to his actions, address the harm done by his behavior, and just in general feel things. Rick doesn't want to feel things. He doesn't "sequel," like he said in Season 4 Episode 7, and he wants to do over-the-top bad things without having to think about how bad they are, and with the emotional distance that comes from their presentation in a goofy animated comedy. So he tries to force the world of the show into that desired framework where nothing matters, bullying your grandson and son-in-law and emotionally abusing your daughter and granddaughter aren't that bad of things to do, and he can be a god-man who can solve any problem he cares to with the power of magic-science and snark, nothing more, nothing less. But the reality of his situation creeps in every now and then, and it starts to do that more and more often until the framework Rick made for his life breaks. That's what happened in Season 5 Episode 9. He finally realized that he can't treat his grandson abusively, but he didn't want to stop running from his past, so he decided to continue to have more episodic, consequence-free adventures, only now with two crows in a pseudo-anime fantasy land. But that couldn't last either. Rick and Morty kind of shaped up into being a sharp deconstruction of animated shock comedies, albeit on somewhat less political lines than something like BoJack Horseman. We're supposed to be mad at Rick for complaining about serialization, because what he really means by that is that he doesn't want to own up to anything or address his pain, he just wants to have, well, "fun, self-contained adventures" despite neither being in a setting designed for that nor being a character who deserves that. Maybe Season 6 will be the start of Rick and Morty being a more serialized show, which likely means that, if the mild consequences Rick has been receiving for his actions in Seasons 4 and 5 after receiving too much veneration in Season 3 haven't been enough for people who can't enjoy Rick as a character, then he's bound to face much heavier consequences going forward naturally stemming from more consistent serialization.
To add to this, I like everyone else had character development while Rick didn't change for the most part. At every other family member was just a stereotype but as time progressed they changed and even started to grow beyond their original archetype (Morty becoming more confident for example). As time goes on Rick meets more resistance as people call out his shit as he continues acting like nothing happens. It's in contrast to something like the Simpsons where everyone "resets" every episode so shit can happen and the aftermath doesn't need to be addressed. Coincidently I found the comedy got old after awhile and so i could empathize with the other characters being over it too. The fact that Evil Morty's whole plan was just to find a universe where Rick wasn't the main character was funny in it's own way.
This started out as a random show and in most cases it still is, but only because Rick wants it to be an episodic show where nothing matters, but no matter what, he can't escape his past when it comes back to bite him. For an old man that loves to say nothing at all matters, he just means that he gave up caring about a lot of things, so he doesn't get hurt again.
I don't know why, but this music brings me somewhere else. Everytime i close my eyes and listen to this, i just see space. Dozne upon dozen of stars in various colors, various luminosity rushing towards me as if i was accelerating for suddenly deccelerate at a a random nebulosis only to travel somewhere else afterwards. Sometimes closing up gorgeous planets, witnessing things i can't even describe as if the Space i envision was just a metaphor of my own creativity showing me exactly what i long for.
