I know this video is 4 years old and no idea what the instructions said then, but there is a garden hose washer that goes on the on/off handle mechanism and instructions on bending the slide gate to cause friction plus a spring on the handle itself.

I'm pretty sure ideal torque is actually supposed to be well above sufficient and just below excessive 👍

Looks like a solid unit. About to watch you video where its shown in use. My only concerns are how you can access the open/close gate, and how well does it spread small seeds like clover.

Mix your small seeds with filler or other seeds, i use oats alot or kitty litter

How has the spreader worked out for you with fertilizer? Is it holding up pretty well?

Yes so far so good, i wash it really well after fertilizing though
