  • Tan France is back with Architectural Digest for a new episode of 'Home at Last'. In need of a cozy place for his friends and family to stay over, including supermodel Gigi Hadid and 'Queer Eye' co-star Anthony Parowski, Tan set out to design his guest house. The aim? Make a space so inviting that guests will want to move in beyond the two-night maximum.

    It’s lovely but impractical. There is no alternative seating to the bed at all to put on shoes/socks or just relax and check your devices and yet there seems to be room for it. Somewhere to unpack your bag as he suggested?! What about a desk/table?! You could cook a full meal but where would you eat it. For someone who spends a lot of time in hotel rooms, he sure seems to have not observed some obvious basic items they include.

    • @Rrjenx02
      @Rrjenx02 Year ago +30

      I was thinking the same thing! You don’t want to have your tea in the bed! 😊
      Maybe a small sofa or two comfy chairs with a table. I wonder if they didn’t have time to get all the pieces before filming.

    • @gmgilewski
      @gmgilewski Year ago +20

      I said the same above. I think it was a time issue. I really hope they add a bench at the foot of the bed. And then a table w/ chairs 2- in order to relax, read, drink tea and eat that full dinner TAN said he could cook in that kitchenette! Lol I think time was issue. Hoping!? 🤞

    • @1973or35

    It is absolutely beautiful! Looks like there is a downstairs was well? Is there a tour? You just need to add:
    A bench at the end of the bed for suitcase
    A nice comfy armchair or two seater sofa
    A small table with two chairs especially if guests decide to cook something. Remove the sideboard to fit it in

  • @1paradox
    @1paradox Year ago +52

    This is my favorite room in their house so far in this series! I'm surprised there's no accent chair or additional seating with a drinks table, but perhaps it'll be added on later or maybe it's on the 1st floor of the cottage? Also, no custom luggage rack/table?

    • @TubeTorte
      @TubeTorte Year ago +4

      My thoughts exactly. Why stress having a kitchenette (with a dishwasher!) without anyplace but the bed to sit to eat or drink? Not even one chair! Very odd & awkward. And if his friends come with a massive suitcase, where do the clothes go...in that small wardrobe? Or do they stay in the suitcase ...ON the floor??
      There needs to be more plush bedding; not a skimpy piece at the foot of the bed.
      I would have skimped on the kitchenette and added a fire feature of some kind to cozy it up. Which would, of course, then require a couch, chair, ottoman....something!

    Bathroom is ace, but I am always a little disappointed when a vaulted ceiling is very plain. The furniture, especially the bed, seems too small for the size of the room. Maybe if they had a footer at the end of the bed or somewhere to lounge. But the colour story is lovely and the look of joy on his face is class.

    • @Soulbloom1
      @Soulbloom1 Year ago +5

      Agreed. I love the cozy look overall, but why is that wardrobe smashed into the corner, and why no sofa at the end of the bed, or chairs? There's plenty of room. Won't the guests want a place to sit, drink their coffee and whatever they make on the hob? Something's not fitting here.

    Un absoluto acierto en cuanto a materiales y colores. Una pena no haber hecho una casa de invitados a la altura de esa casa, con un salón pequeño separado de la habitación en el que estuviera esa maravillosa cocina , una mesa, unas sillas , un sofá, una tv. Creo que los invitados van a depender mucho de la casa grande precisamente en lo que se necesita más independencia; al final del día uno ve un poco sus series o programas favoritos o lee un libro. Teniendo dos niños te apetecerá a esas horas tumbarte en tu sofá y no tener al invitado ahí porque en su sitio no tiene un lugar donde ver tv. Si son amigos mal, pero si son los suegros o gente mayor mucho peor no tener su propio sitio. Imagino que habrá sido por necesidades de espacio pero bien se hubiera quitado algo de espacio en la casa grande.
