Was 17yrs old when heard his ground breaking mix dance music , I still play b the b every day, and young people love it, he's a legend, come back Tim Simenon in 2020 , we miss you.
Tim Simenon and I went to Hammersmith and West London College back in '83 - '84. He left home (got kicked out?) and stayed in my squat for about 3 months. Big shout to you Tim, it's Isi from way back!
For those that have never heard it type Attack Tim Simenon into RUclips. The soundtrack to a bones brigade skate video by Tim. 20 plus minutes of him at his best.
this guy really doesnt get anywhere near enough props for the work hes done. in fact, he doesnt court any kind of notoriety and so much of what hes done is even off my radar. but i have to say hes one of the most influencial out there even if you dont know it. "beat dis" influenced me more than grandmaster flash's 'the message' because it was the new technology way of producing of our time.
I heard him in an interview around 87 / 88. Yes his way of speaking has changed since then, but he is a very grown man now, matured and well spoken. He is ambitious and has always articulated his craft very well in interviews, even back then.
I think he spent some childhood in Malaysia (he's Scottish/Malaysian-Chinese parents), and he's lived abroad for many years, so his accent makes sense.
"Beat dis" and "Enter the dragon" together with everything S-Express and Baby Ford is the soundtrack of the happiest years of my life. (Writing this in July 2021, as the world is turning into one big global totalitarian fascist state, and half the worlds population, still thinks it's happening out of consideration to "public health")
I knew a guy who killed himself because the world changed on him and he couldn’t function that way musically. Very sad. He could use computers but he was turned off by all the technology and plugins and stuff.
Possibly the greatest sampler and mix-meister of all time.
The man is a legend.
totally unique bloke.
he is an inspiration.
