This is my favorite band. You should see them live. It was fortunate enough to catch them at Sabaton Open Air, their (from what i´ve heard) first live play in Sweden, and when they played this song... I just started crying. I never cry. But it was just so beautiful and perfect, and the fact that i was there... It just got too much. You should see them live!

It's so good to revisit these vids! Absolutely dig your hyped reactions. This song is my all time favourite. And I just now finally realized it's a lullaby. I mean if you'd play it with a kantele it would sound ancient. Timeless. I love it. Forever and ever.

Some say that Nightwish is more melodic and bla bla BUT, in Nightwish, it's only Holopainen who males the melody in their songs with computer/keyboard. So NW is not so melodic band, but Wintersun here has all the elements that completes each other, and everything sounds like it's made by angels but from hell 😎🤘 I love watching your videos guys, specially when you do bands from Finland 🤘 Keep up and stay metal! I have lots of great requests, which i know you guys like, i have learned your taste of music 😆😉

I'm pretty sure the title of the song is a direct reference to Finland, since it perfectly describes this cold and melancholic country. Even in the live performances they would announce "We're Wintersun and we come from the Land of snow and sorrow!" before they play this song :)

Been to both Canada and Scandinavia in general and have to agree with you there.
Thing about everything european is just this old world feeling of some forgotten cultural heritage slumbering underneath that you won't get as much in Canada. :)

If youre going to do Ensiferum Jari was on first two records and both records are perfect, check out Token of Time, he wrote it by himself and it's been my favourite for a long long time, hell I'm going to listen to the whole album right now haha

Their first two albums are more than amazing, but i love From afar and Victory songs as well! And then they released unsung heroes.... It was good, but so disappointing! One Man Army is much better than unsung heroes. Their newest album beats one man army and unsung heroes easily in my opinion.
Jari co-wrote some of the songs up through Dragonheads and Victory Songs, and that, I think, helped Ensiferum stay on-mission. Some of their more recent stuff has suffered from having a few duds or weird decisions on the records. Unsung Heroes is an uneven effort. One Man Army has some really classic songs, and a few head-scratchers.

I agree that Finland should change our national anthem, but not to any Wintersun pieces. It should change to finnish composer Jean Sibelius's great piece named Finlandia. Please don't get me wrong, I like Winter sun very much.

Never thought of Wintersun for the national anthem of Finland because they are not even on my top 10 of bands from Finland (I would consider Amorphis first) but I see your point. If there's a Metal song I always say it should be the national anthem of the band's country is this one:

It's a band from Ukraine called Nokturnal Mortum and the name of the song says it all... probably not your cup of tea but worth checking.

I hope you can find a video for studio version of Wintersun's Starchild (at least I don't think you've done that one yet). Seems like every other song is readily available except for that one.
As far as Ensiferum goes, hopefully you hit a good song. While they do have their masterpieces, there are lots of songs in their catalogue that are just...meh. Then again, riding the Ensiferum train might lead you to their current vocalist's former band Norther, right...? =P
+Teloch we found a live version of Starchild that we can use, so we will be picking up Wintersun next week and go in order for the rest of that album. Once we are done we have 4 other videos we want to do to finish off 2017. We not sure what to do in 2018 for our Sundays....
A&P-REACTS You should go with Blind Guardian. They have so many amazing songs, it will take you whole year to go through all of them. My favorite band after Wintersun.

There's actually a lot of semi-serious talk about changing the national anthem of Finland, but it's Darude - Sandstorm. It's the most successful Finnish song world wide so it would make sense that way, but of course, changing the national anthem to Sandstorm would be utter madness :D
Back when Time I album was released, I was so mindblown by Sons of Winter and Stars, that I stated it is so epic and majestic that it should be the anthem of the Earth! :D
If in the future we want to send a communication to Alien life forms we should play the complete Wintersun discography on loop. Only then we can prove we are a superior race.

Your petition proposal is a good idea, but as you said it, they are on their own class. The anthem isn't worth of them. They make too epic music.

The one we have now is a boring piece of crap (don't hate on me fellow Finns :)) As far as slow songs by Wintersun go, "Death and the Healing" is so far above all other songs that it's not even funny.
