Jeep of the Week: One Owner 88K Mile Jeep Cherokee XJ Build and Restoration

After 20 years this Cherokee came back into our inventory. It was garaged kept and traded back in on a new model. It did need a ton of work to get back to its former glory. After spending a couple weeks on the original motor we threw in the towel and swapped for a used 4.0L. It needed Shocks as well so we started fresh with a new Old Man Emu 3 Inch Suspension Lift. For shoes we went with a TJ Rubicon wheel paired with a 31 Inch A/T tire. The stance is aggressive without going overboard and the on road manners are fantastic. Next we tackled the brakes. They need a complete overhaul with the rear shoes being the only salvageable component. The rear axle seals and rear diff were also serviced. Finally the A/C was not pumping out as cold as we would like so it was recharged and is blowing cold as ever. Cosmetically the plastic trim was faded. We stripped it off of the doors and love the cleaner look. On the interior the headliner was replaced. After 2 months in the shop we are proud to offer this time capsule to the public. love jeep xj. what was the problem with the original engine? Im guessing 0331 head crack ruined the engine with coolant/oil? Again, awesome looking jeep!
