- For my first challenge in the lovely country of Taiwan, I stopped in to attempt the Siew Mai Dumpling Eating Record Challenge at 基隆帶筋肉羹 in Keelung City, Taiwan! Challengers have 30 minutes to eat a minimum of 30 dumplings in order to earn their $360NT meal for free and a spot up on the Wall of Fame.. BUT! If you beat the current record, you can also win $3,000NT!

Competitive eating is still something I feel ambivalent about, but folks like Katina and Randy (and Man Vs Food back in the day) make it...more palatable. Love that they highlight businesses and cuisines in the process.
On the one hand, it's a pass time that drowns in gluttony that serves no purpose besides saying you could.
On the other, it's still kinda a sport, so it's impressive to see other people push the human body.

I watch you and randy religiously! My sister passed July of 2023 a day before my husband's birthday. You have been a much needed respite of something to watch and a role model to push yourself beyond what you thinking possible! She was always pushing herself to surpass the goals. Thank you!!
I know she said from the beginning that she wasn’t going for the most dumplings, BUT I was still hoping she’d accidentally beat 55 lol. So every time she stopped to talk, I was like ‘keep going!!!’

Those looked delicious, they use oyster sauce, and shrimp and chicken or pork. They also have a sweet soy sauce to dip in, or soup.

When I lived in Hawaii, I used to get 4 shumai at the local 7-11 on my way home from work (yes, 7-11 Hawaii has amazing snacks)! I would also get a cold somen salad and je stuffed. I can't imagine eating 30 of these. Great job!

I was just going to ask if you or Randy get stomach issues with all the international foods and then you said you were getting over tummy issues. Hope you feel better!
What kind of soup was it? Was hoping to find it & the type of dumplings so maybe I can find them here in the states
Real question though... do you have any digestive issues? Or do you ever puke or have diarrhea after you eat so much food? And if not, what do you do to be able to eat so much and stay in shape/healthy? I love watching you eat! It's like having a binge session without having to do it myself.

This challenge put the some in dim sum. That was a lot of dumplings. Great job pushing through a slightly dodgy tummy and putting in a good performance!
