    This channel is underrated. Very nice, calm and information packed in just a couple minutes. :D

    Really helpful tips, thanks for sharing! Is that tracking object, which you used to elevate the scanned part, available online to download and 3D print?

      Yes it was downloaded from here.
      Simply scale it to the size you need.
      I print mine with a black top.
      So it is easier to trim out the scan

    Really good video! Unfortunately turntable rotation seem to be not used for alignment as done from structured light scanners. Do you have any experience between pop3 and mini? Is mini better then pop3 especially for technical parts?

      I have all their scanners. With them being what i call live scanners vs stationary like the structured light scanners.
      I fine them better for some items since you can easily move around the item.
      The stationary type you must figure a way of holding the item just how you need it as it rotates around.
      The mini would give you the highest detail but it all depends in the part. The pop3 has a larger FOV. So med size to large parts would be much easier to scan on the pop3

    Why does my pop 3 make trail lines of the tracking dots when rotating and yours doesn't? Did you do something special?

    • @xile6
      @xile6  Месяц назад +1

      Depends on the item.
      In marker mode the should be very little to no trail.
      In featured mode. They might be a small trail if it lost tracking.
      A very small amount will be fixed in processing the point cloud.
      Alot of trail means it is lossing tracking of the main item.

      @@xile6 yeah I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried everything from adjusting the lighting, adjusting the distance spraying with aesub, painting flat white. I can't get this thing to give me a good scan on just about anything. And I'm scanning very basic shapes. It's not like there's any intricate geometry it's trying to work around

      @xile6  Месяц назад

      @@thegoudaguymikey oddly enough basic shapes are the hardest. Scanners dont see how we do. They need distinct features to hold tracking, or it all looks the same to them.
      Did you try in marker mode with markers on the table and some on the item if need.

      @@xile6 indeed I did. Someone on a forum told me I might need to get the mini

    In both cases you used marker mode to track but in the first case it lost tracking; or did you use feature tracking the first pass which causes it to duplicate itself numerous times and in these cases you have to use marker tracking the second time the merge them together.
    Why not use marker mode the first pass ?

    • @xile6
      @xile6  5 месяцев назад

      First mode was feature tracking. And it is part of the video to show others what they are doing wrong. Reason for starting in feature mode.

    • @xile6
      @xile6  5 месяцев назад

      Also you do not need to use marker mode on both scans to merge them together. One scan can be marker mode and the other feature mode. It can even be from a different scanner

    • @christopher8116
      @christopher8116 5 месяцев назад

      @@xile6Although marker mode won't lose the features as you shown in the first pass with feature mode. Wouldn't it be best to suggest to scan with marker mode as to not to loose features as with feature mode in the first pass as you shown ?

    • @xile6
      @xile6  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@christopher8116 im not sure you follow the video.
      The video shows that feature mode does not work on all items.
      The feature mode scan is to show and explain why it is losing track.
      And to show how the model looks.
      Some people will do a scan in feature mode just like the first scan i did. Then wonder why does their scan look so bad.
      Then the 2nd and 3rd scans are to show how you would scan an item like that.
      The problem and the solution.
      If i just showed the solution people would not know what they where doing wrong
