Hymn of Nature. No translation is needed. It sounds wonderful. You feel the vibrations of these lyrics and music, coming from the the cradle of humanity, Africa. I don't know if all deities, have ever listened to this song. They don't know what they are missing.
Mali, country of goodwill and hope, of exceptional music and inspired photographers, is in need of a stream of positive energy, and plenty of Light. I ask this to all that can help!
Thanks for Svetlana for sharing her music... It was lovely hearing Rokia and this song... even knowing what it meant in English was fantastic... few drops of tears though...
English translation would be: ( Translation improvals highly appreciated) When two beings meet each other They bring to each other a little bit of what they are For being so, we learn We build ourselves, and we evolve I bring you this that makes me different GIve me a little bit of what you are In peace and respect For in what you will impose me I will keep just your violence and arrogance We can't ask the other one to accept what we offer him/she By receiving what the other is giving We are opening him/she to what we could bring him/she
For in what you force on me I become only your violence and arrogance We can't ask the other one to accept what we force on him/she By receiving what the other is giving in peace and respect We are opening him/she to what we could bring him/she to build ourselves, and we evolve.
I love Rokia's singing and appreciate Caio's translation in the comments. Normally, I don't understand a word Rokia sings, but do you need a word-for-word translation of beauty?
Rokia Traore's hometown of Kolokani is in the northwestern part of Mali's Koulikoro region. "Her language is "Bamana." Called "Bamanankan" by the native speakers, it is no doubt one of the most spoken languages in West Africa. It is spoken in Burkina Faso, in Guinea-Conakry, in Northern Cote-d'Ivoire, in Senegal, but Bamana is especially spoken in Mali where it is the first or second language of 80% of the population." Wiki
great video indeed. go and see her, you wont regret it! : november in France and Holland, March 2010 more concerts in France. (bytheway, Rokia Traoré is not the daugther of great 'bluesman' Boubacar Traoré.)
Could somebody please translate the song? I agree, ths is a gorgeous video, it would be perfect if the lyrics were about evolution of some kind. Thank you:)
Could someone approve this french translation: "..
Not understanding the words... by the pictures I suspect it might be about the beauty and importance of all life. I think that the universe is a place which creates life maybe in many places. And all things alive wish to live as you can see easily. In this all living things are equal to all other living things. There is no exception as far as universal law is concerned. MAN gave himself such a "right of exception" but knowing that it is against the laws of nature he should respect and honor all life whenever possible. Like a meat eating animal kills for it's immediate need and not for fun or profit. In that it has respect for all other life. And so should man!
Polite offer of translation improvement: him/she is grammatically incorrect, should be him/her, but that is also a little awkward, best solution is to use gender neutral "them": We can't ask the other one to accept what we offer them

English translation would be: ( Translation improvals highly appreciated)
When two beings meet each other
They bring to each other a little bit of what they are
For being so, we learn
We build ourselves, and we evolve
I bring you this that makes me different
GIve me a little bit of what you are
In peace and respect
For in what you will impose me
I will keep just your violence and arrogance
We can't ask the other one
to accept what we offer him/she
By receiving what the other is giving
We are opening him/she to what we could bring him/she
Woow, thank you so much! Always wondered what she said :)
Gracias !!
Thank you very much for this translation. I'm very grateful.
For in what you force on me
I become only your violence and arrogance
We can't ask the other one
to accept what we force on him/she
By receiving what the other is giving in peace and respect
We are opening him/she to what we could bring him/she
to build ourselves, and we evolve.
