Definitely don’t remove the bottom pins. You take out the dampener like you said but you squeeze the sides of the glove box and it tilts down far enough to replace the filter
Wish I had read your comment! Those pins were hard to reinstall! I did not remove that side cable though, seems like too many steps following this video.
I think removing the pins is probably the right way to do it, so you can work the glove box door out easily and avoid leaving any marks on the dash plastic around where the stops slide in. That being said, I’m the second owner of my XT4, and the plastic already had marks in it as if everyone who came before me didn’t remove the pins, so I took the easy route as well, and it did take very little pressure to work those stops out.
Great Video - I am looking to purchase this exact car. I'm wondering what are other things I should check prior to purchasing used? The dealerships always say they do XYZ but I would like to check myself. Would greatly appreciate your assistance!
Thank you for this great video !, just did this on a 2019 xt4, everything you said was spot on correct, I was able to use forceps or a hemostat to hold the cable, then use my right hand to hold the door in the hinge mount while using my left hand to install the pins from the top THEN insert the plastic rope clip and got it done !
The good think is the screws are captive to the upper assembly so you don’t have to worry about losing them or trying to get them lined back up to tighten.
Ignore this guy after 1:06. There's enough room to just work the nubs securing the glove box past the frame. Never was I worried that the pressure necessary posed any danger to cracking the frame. Continue from 2:46.
Really? You end it just when you need another person to hold the dampener while trying to put pins back. Left pin fell way back and can’t be retrieved easily. Poor video.
This video is crap and makes it WAY more difficult than it needs to be. Pushing in the side of the box and getting it past the clips and dropping it down is MUCH easier
Thank you! Definitely NOT paying the dealership to do this for me now.
Most welcome, Please Bookmark this video for Future Reference, Thanks Again.

I was thinking the same thing.
To late lol

Looks like a ball buster.
