- In this episode, I tell you the story behind the shoot of my latest photo set entitled "City Dweller". Inspired by an editorial in a back issue of the magazine "Man of the World" and the editing possibilities of Silbersalz35 film, I set out to shoot a fashion editorial with muted colors where hard urban concrete meets high-fashion. Shot with both a 24mm wide-angle on the Olympus OM-1 and a 85mm portrait lens on the Canon 30V, this was an unusual set for me. Take a look at the results and some additional background.
Films used:
Fuji Acros 100
Ilford FP4+
Kodak Vision 250D (Silbersalz35)
Equipment used:
Olympus OM-1 with 24mm f/2
Canon 30V with 85mm f/1.8
Model:
Marco D'Amato ( / mardamato )

Richard Hayton Thanks so much for your kind comment. 🙏🏻
Fashion really isn't my thing but this is very good work, especially that colour palette. Excellent thank you 👍
Probably one of the best shoots on youtube. The model, location, and the shoots you took were on point. Kudos.
jae rose Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it. :)
Max... wow.. I missed this series so much!!! Fantastic set, especially the BW 24mm shots. SUPERB!
The power of the film¡¡¡
Awesome to see this videos comeback
I was so hoping, too see another story behind the shoot. Thank you Max.
Beautiful photos, especially the B&W ones, the contrast between the model, the clothes and the grey background was very inspiring, especially the O-M1, my favourite film camera.
again - world class. keep up the good work!
Very good shoot , especially like the 24mm work , really interesting modern urban photography;)
These photos are spectacular. Great job.
Superb shots. Will certainly pick up a few rolls of Silbersalz35 as soon as I can!
Awesome photographs
Beautiful work Max! All the elements of location, styling, composition and light came together for some truly stellar images. Bravo!
Amazing images! Please do more videos like this!
Hey Max, fantastic video and images, thank you!
Loved this video. Really liked the concept, and the use of two different cameras & films. Keep doing these.
Very interesting and a great setting for b&w. The shots at 7.40 and 8.05 stood out for me.
Very inspiring video and beautiful results . Great stuff
Well produced and shot- love the images!!! 👏👏
Bravo! Thoroughly missed your behind the shoot series. I appreciate all this takes time, effort & money but please continue. You have a good eye for fashion, architecture. On the note of wide angle lens, check out Tim Walker currently showing at the V&A. Missing Munich. Well done. Keep clicking keep inspiring. Be well x ta
Really great video and your photos are truly inspirational.
Superb video. Great to see content branching out from the gear.
All the best.
A lovely story. I am thrilled to have just discovered your gentle and intelligent videos. I would be very interested to hear how you scan your film if you ever want to address this topic as part of a future instalment.
Very interesting concept. The images you created have great poses and exceptional compositions. Great job, all the film stocks. the cameras and lenses delivered a variety of excellent shots. Congrats! - Cheers from Greece.
hermoso trabajo...felicitaciones
Max, abgesehen von dem super Video Content und der schönen Story bist du ein echt guter Fotograf! Weiter so. Freue mich auf jedes einzelne Video.

Awesome 👏
Beautiful photos as always! These are gorgeous. Also, so happy to see a male model as I am tired of seeing women in every photo shoot. It's tiresome, too many faux lashes, so this a breath of fresh air.
Großes Lob, weiter so!

Wow!...Wonderful work Max. Great selection of cameras, lenses (I love the look of the 24mm and the possibilities in portraiture), and film stocks. I'm curious regarding the Silbersalz, as I have shot some Kodak cine film myself. Does the developing and scanning by Silbersalz make a noticeable difference compared to self-development in C41 and removal of the remjet? Great model too, keep the great videos coming.
Very interesting shoot. The whole combination of model, clothes, locations and choice of film stocks worked really well! I think by far the most interesting shots are with the wide angle, even though the ones with the 85 looked good as well, I think some of the wide ones were really strong. Also there is a very strong 2000s feel on this shoot, don't know why. Nice work!
You shoot with your left eye, like me. The SLR was never designed for this...😂😂
Great video, loved the music choice as well (what was it?).
Interesting video - thanks:- )
Excellent shoot Max! Particularly enjoyed the wide shots with the Olympus. What is your opinion of the 24/2 ?
matteovrizzi Thanks for your comment. The lens is really excellent and outstanding. Enjoyed shooting it. :)
This is so amazingg! Please do more fashion shoots! You’re realy good at it! Lools so high end! Also did you shoot the acros at box speed?
erwnalejo Thanks so much. Yes, I rated Acros at ISO 100.
Analog Insights great! Looking forward to see more of this kinda shoot!
peace and prosperity
Hey Max, von wem ist denn der Song, der ab 6:30 eingespielt wird?
Beautiful and interesting video. Just out of curiosity, I noticed you did not use (also in other videos of yours) a hood over the lenses, may I ask you why?
Thanks for your kind comment. Good question: I use hoods mostly only when shooting against/towards the light. Plus, sometimes I am either just lazy or don't have a fitting lens hood. :)
@@AnalogInsights thank you for your reply.
