Nice amp. You should also check out Louis Electric’s “Cobra” amp. Louis has worked on Robben Ford’s Dumble multiple times (perhaps the most famous one) as well builds an identical clone of Dumble #183. The guy is a wizz when it comes to all things Dumble and his builds are just phenomenal.
I remember going to see Adam Goldsmith play in London and he was using a Red Plate head. It sounded killer. Haven’t tried one myself but that tone stayed in my mind…
Incredible sounding amp! Definitely getting the Tonex pack. One request - Please do a video using the actual captures or put sound samples on the web page. I need to hear the captures prior to purchasing. Awesome stuff as always! Happy 2025, James and Paul!!!
Nice one guys !!! Dont forget if you want one you can always call Keith Ettringer at Redplate in Arizona and he will build you one !! I sold it as it needed a new home to be used !!
I have the 100 watt without the reverb. A superb amp. I mean it is the best Dumble ODS clone or copy out there. I have had or testet them all, except for the Welagen. An outstanding amp.
Excellent demo! I used to own the Redplate Blues-machine 66 which is a stunning Blackface type amp but incredibly versatile- if you can find one its well worth checking out chaps…
I still think Amplified Nation makes the best Dumble style amps right now, but there are obviously many more makers that are also doing a very good job.
Interesting! Would be nice if you guys had only the amps without the cab "baked in" too in your tonex bundles 😅 I use either my IRs or my real cabinet with a power amp 😬 Cheers
Loved the channel and playing. Youre demoing a lot of amps not supplied in the UK. Just wondered what the rarionale is? Are they going to be sold here?
They make captures for the various modelling boxes, and then rinse and repeat with a new amp. Handily, we get demos of some cool amps along the way, so this channel becomes a welcome boutique amp reference guide
@@danharding9136 I hear you. Recently picked up a Quad Cortex, which was my first major incursion into the matrix. Will I be swapping out my wet/dry 2x tube amp + pedalboard rig? - hell, no. But the QC sounds pretty good compared to amps + mic’d cabs, is brilliant fun (building presets is enjoyable if you like building real pedalboards!), and it’s an amazing compact option for writing, recording, gigging when no amps allowed, and travelling. And of course you can try captures of all these amps from The Studio Rats etc.
I apologize for my perhaps stupid question. But what is the signal chain like? Is a real box and a real speaker used or an impulse response. What are you using exactly? Thank you very much for your effort.
To all those “Amplified Nation” is better comments, what are you basing that on? Did you actually A/B them in the room? If your opinion is simply based on what you heard in a RUclips review, your opinion doesn’t mean shit.
Do you like this amp better than your AmpNation Overdrive Reverb? Trying to make a decision between the Amplified Nation, Red Plate and Fuchs ODS II. Any help would be appreciated.
Unless you’re one of the few folks that Dumble specifically designed an amp for your playing or you just want one as an investment/status symbol. No lack of great amps out there today. It’s a great time to be a tone chaser.
From what I’ve read Dumbles can be brutally tough to play ( I think Robben Ford and Larry Carlton did not enjoy each others Dumble). They have a feel as well as the tone and because most of them were custom made for an individual they can be hit or miss if they suit you. Would be a laff if you splurge £30k on a big D and it is fatally harsh 😀 Red Plate sounds great, does it feel friendly ?
@@mikebarnard2689Two Rocks and Amplified Nations are very tough to play / record with. They're really clear and put your playing under a magnifying glass. So if you mess up, it's very obvious.
I had one made but wasn’t my cup of tea. The Bruno Super is the best Dumble clone. I know people say Two Rock is a Dumble style amp, and the Bloomfield is my favorite amp except for the Gijka. I’ve had about every D style clone there is, and most disappoint. What I hear in videos isn’t what I hear in person with most, and most really aren’t impressive in any way to me. Most seem flat sounding, nothing special. The Bruno and Two Rocks are exceptions.
That how much I paid for my 100 watt Amplified Nation ODS lol. These things are NOT cheap let me tell you. However, you won't want to purchase or play anything else afterwards, it will ruin amps for you (in a good way).
@@dannyllerenatv8635 Yeah, maybe 'buy once, cry once' does make sense. Too many of us end up buying and selling dozens of amps over many years searching for the 'grail tone.' That could very well end up costing a lot more than just one fantastic amp that you'll keep forever.
@@Mamo878 At some point I just learned to forget the entire holy grail thing. What has made me accept my purchase is the fact that it does everything spectacularly and it even sounds great at low volumes despite being a 100 watt head tied to a 2x12 cab.

Had a Redplate Tweedy Verb. Incredible portable little amp
What an aewsome amp, great demo as always, wish you both a fruitful new 2025, can't wait for the show to come back nect week, Cheers ❤❤

I was not expecting to love this this much. I think I remember this amp from the R7 v vintage ‘57 Les Paul video.
well remembered!
That was awesome! You guys are really making me want to buy a Tonex!!!
Yay!! We have a Headrush pack available!
You two remind me of Batman and Robin. I love Robin's enthusiasm, and Batman's playing!

Looks like one of Nick’s Ceritone over drive specials . I’m looking for the 9:20 Van Weelden Twinkleland captures for Tonex.

Great sound. It sounds like the circuit from Santana's Dumble.
Sounds amazing
I have a Blackline & a Magica. Great amps, real tone in a sea of sh*t.

I think Allen Hinds had one with a fender type clean and a Dumble type lead the Backline. I liked that one a little better
I think he’s endorsed by redplate
I have played Allen’s tele - so nice
How does this compare with your AmpNation Overdrive Reverb? Would love to see a comparison video. Thanks

@onenotesolo256 yes that's a good point. I'm not into modelling sadly but not for the lack of trying

That's true, but this demo is also meaningless, because they use IR or baked in effects, like 99% of youtubers.

So hard to judge the nuance of these sorts of amps without being in the room and feeling the touch dynamics under your fingers.
Can Clive be my friend as well please ?
$3000 - $5000 amps might as well be a real Dumble. Not affordable for most.
Yes!!! I have a Red Plate blacktop amp. Great sounding & playing amp,but it does make me play better. All well I sound good tho.

yeah... NO! this does not sound like a Dumble... it sounds like a Marshall
Exactly what I was thinking. Sounds good, but way more like a Marshall than a Dumble, but hey it looks like a Dumble.
Btw, new it's $4295 USD
Yikes
