@6:28 when Sam mentions "John Cougar Mellencamp" was that a wink and a nod (by the writers) to the song "Jack and Diane". Whenever I heard that song back in 1982 the lyrics made me think of Sam and Diane. Or was it a pure coincidence that this episode referenced this singer?
I agree. Shelley Long's Diane was the most original, intelligent character in sitcom history. After she left, I really only watched the show occasionally, whereas when she was there I saw every episode. The Sam-Diane relationship made the series. Ms Long left a big hole with her departure.
I more or less stopped watching Cheers after 'Diane' left. The dynamic between Diane and Sam was just wonderful. And Shelley Long played Diane SO well. It was still a very good show afterwards...but it wasn't (to me) a great show, any longer.
It took me less than 25 days to binge watch the first 5 seasons. It took almost two months for me to finish the rest and I only did it because I wanted to understand everything that happened to the series before I reached the finale, which disappointed me deeply. Since then I been re-watching the Diane years and I don't think I'll be watching the rest soon.
@@gustavomarques4097 After SHE left, the show lost its magic for me It became a very, very good comedy show having already built up an audience by then, but it was not longer a Classic
one thing about this classic Sam Marlon is a cool funny guy on this programme but when he a doctor on his Outher classic programme BEAKER far out you never hear the end of it he gets mad for just about everything he talks and comes across

Diane Chambers was the perfect role for Shelley Long. By the way, she looked absolutely stunning in her black dress.
I love Diane. Such a sweetheart, in spite of herself.
Man, I never appreciated how these two are amazing actors.
Diane was a looker for sure. Sam knew she was the real deal.
She was also a high maintenance train wreck!!
@@LouisL-q8z that was the role...
Diane:” Your knob.” (Hands him the knob) That’s just too freakin funny😆😆
Clearly she doesn’t want his knob. She hands it back to him.

It was all Diane Chambers
She was the best in that series. Kirstie Alley was good too but Diane belonged there.

Yes it was a classic when SHE was on - after she left it was a very good comedy show but a classic no more

Season 2 episode 1. Diane in lingerie…omg.
Shelley looks like my X-wife. The only time I miss her is watching her on Cheers
Your ex-wife must be a cutie
Cheers Diane chambers funny moments part 17 hd
At 5:07 is that a young Jennifer Tilly?
It sure is.....
@@RoxyCakes Thanks and waow, she's still a beauty but omg she was hotter than the sun in that clip. Maybe I just like the 80's look cos I'm old lol
Good eye! Now I'm remembering her cameo on Frasier! 😂👍

Love Diane❤
Hated the abuse from Carla...
As a New Yorker I hated Boston but loved Cheers.
Why do New Yorker’s hate Boston?
Diane came first...
